Alot of guys in my ethic community think im rude or mean because I dont say salam to the men. I dont want people thinking im mean, but I dont feel comfortable saying salam to men because most of the time they start a conversation

brother dawah man don't worry about coming across angry or too serious especially concerning topics like these. sometimes i see another dawah figures talking about very serious and important topics but they'll be smiling and busting bare jokes for the large majority of the video. That leads me ,sometimes, to not take the issue they are bringing froward seriously, but alhamdu lilah you are not one of these people. keep up the good work bro and may allah make our actions and intentions pure.
As a Revert ive never really understood the problem with free mixing. But i feel this video really highlites why, and in the most beautiful way possible.
And people will argue "come on, it's the 21st century" - well, it's not enough to not fall into the evil, we need to stay as FAR AWAY from the evil AS POSSIBLE, Allah didn't say "don't do it", he said "don't come near it" - and can you do a topic about living in non-muslim countries?

nurses and doctors don't cover arms due to hygiene, sleeves carry germs. in a place like the hospital it can be fatal.

Issues can change (i.e. different diseases which we are fighting, times are different, etc.) but human nature does not.

I think I know where this issue is mainly targeted at and it's sad that people connect hikmah with age. Subhana Allah just as Allah created us with different physical features, He created us with different levels of understanding and understanding is not something that comes with age, rather it is a gift from Allah. There were so many companions who surpassed Abdullah ibn Abbas in terms of age, but it was him with his small age that Allah chose to grant the ability to understand His book best. A person's level of knowledge should not be measured based on how much it is but how much of it he understands. The prophet pbuh said "من يرد الله به خيرا يفقه في الدين" and not "يعلمه الدين". Just try your best to keep tabs on your intentions and bi ithnillah Allah will be with you.

I have a serious question someone please answer. In my culture when guests come over you have to go and say salam, For example if husband and wife come over, my parents want me to go downstairs to say salam even though the man is sitting there. Would that be considered a mixed gathering?
Yes, women can give salaam to men, (and the other way round) even if they are not their Maharim. The obligation or the order to give the salaam and return it, is a general thing for all Muslims and something Prophet Muhammad and his companions did during his time. When salaam is given to the opposite gender, it must be kept professional, there must be no hand shaking, hugs or kisses etc, and if the women is young or is uncomfortable because of the fear of Fitnah the rule changes and its best if she doesn't even be in the same room as the man or even look at him. But in general, it is ok for men and women to give and return the salaam if done professionally in a halal manner.

theres a lot of diff. opinions on it. I have heard this tho, am interested to see what their points are..
Mini Mo the reason it is said is because Shari'a/Allah's law is to prevail however voting in a democratic election shows that the laws of men running in election is better than Allah's. However, some scholars like Sheikh WasiUllah Abbas et al have said it is allowed to vote in recent UK general elections as certain parties and more for the Muslims and the lesser of two evils. It is an iffy issue and I personally do not vote.

You can't simply say women (and men) have to stay at home to avoid free mixing and zina. It's not suitable in this day and age, Both sets have work and study to provide for their family. In this case, we must have the middle ground.
