- If it feels like you're seeing the same posts, people and pages in your Facebook news feed over and over again, but missing everything else, it's because you are! Here's why that happens and what you can do to take control of your news feed again.

When I click the 3 lines on mobile, all it does it bring up a menu to view my profile, find friends, settings, etc...nothing about changing the news feed.

I use "back-page" a lot because I remember things I wanted to see while I'm looking at a video or post I chose to see first. My pet peeve with both Facebook and TH-cam, is that every time I leave the page for whatever reason, I later come back and it's no longer there AAARGGH!!!! Plus there is no way of going back to it. Do you have any ideas to help me with this? The way I deal with it is right click "open in another tab" on each video I want to see. But I don't always remember to do that, and if I'm browsing through both facebook and youtube I end up with 20 tabs open in just a few minutes!!
PS, I feel it's a real stupid feature they have and it surprises me not more people complain about it. I understand why they do it, but still its seems like yet another example of how wanting to control people too much backfires and just ends up creating problems.
Unfortunately, I do not have a solution to that, but it pisses me off too. The way "top stories" resets every time I click from my personal account to my ChickFix Facebook page or group page irks the hell out of me. If I ever find a solution, I will post it here.

Although this podcast is extremely accurate information and you have dig very deep to understand the algorithm, because the algorithm is constantly being updated on a daily basis, all of this information becomes invalid in a very short time
Thanks for this! Tough to get anyone to notice my biz page on FB and now I know why! Why we are told we must be on facebook to get clients, without having any control about how users can or can't find us, is so frustrating!
Thanks so much for your prompt reply. I only post from my pc. Using Firefox browser. These photos get added on both on my page and on my personal account. Facebook 'help' is useless, all I get is an automated reply saying they can't help!! If you have any further thoughts, I would really appreciate your input. Many thanks anyway, Anne

On my phone, there are three little lines in the upper right corner, which is the link to the menu. Do you have that?

@@zafuanhussin5385 scroll down, and you may have to click "see more" at the bottom of the first section. Then scroll until you see "most recent.". They DO NOT make it easy to find.
I can't click on "those three little dots" next to News Feed because my News Feed has stopped displaying any items in the columns to the left and right of the news. How do I restore my News Feed to display those columns of items?
This past weekend in particular, I keep seeing the same posts from like the same 5 people or so everytime I go to my newsfeed. No offense to any of them, it's really annoying. Fixing this problem is even more annoying. So basically this is Facebook's way of getting us to interact more with our friends and things that are posted so that we will get to see more. Again, very annoying.
Two years old, but you solved my problem.. the recent vs top stores was changed... I have been struggling with this for weeks..
UPDATE. Every time I got off of FB and went back, even for a few seconds, it reverted back to top stories. I changed to the new FB and it does not give any option for recent vs top stories.

How do I get rid of old stories and posts? and how do I keep other people from posting on my page? I have recently been in facebook jail for things other people tag me in... even if we're not friends. It's like if you don't like someone, you just tag them in something offensive and they can't use facebook anymore...

I ran into a problem myself. I follow a church page on Facebook, and whereas everyone else can see new videos coming in, I can’t. We had our live service a couple days ago, since we put in live services in the midst of COVID-19, but the recent video I saw was published *on April 24th!* My phone & laptop’s Facebooks both have settings where I get notifications for ALL live videos, but I haven’t gotten a live video notification for 2 months & I didn’t even know it! So Idk what the Hell’s going on, but it’s absolutely annoying me so much!
My "Feed" on Facebook (via my computer) only says "Feed", not "News Feed" and is void of those three dots...
I have a problem that, so far, nobody can fix! When I post to my page, FB adds photos to my post that I don't want there. There is no way to delete them as they don't appear until the post goes up. For example, yesterday I posted three of my paintings and mentioned in the post that one of the paintings was done while I was tutoring on a painting holiday in Devon. FB added six photographs that I took at that particular place more than two years ago and stuck them onto the end of my post! I don't want this to happen and don't know how to stop it. Can you help please?
Yikes! That's a stumper. Are these posts you are doing from your phone? I can't help but wonder if this is an issue with your phone, and not Facebook. Or perhaps a glitch in the app on your phone? Have you tried deleting the Facebook app and reinstalling it?
Also, if this is a business page, you could try downloading Facebook's "Pages Manager" and upload that way, and see if it still happens (if you don't already).
I see the same posts for days at a time. Refresh rarely does anything but make the squeak noise. Mobile app (on iphone) no longer has ‘latest’ option. Smh
On my Android, I have to click the three lines at the top right, and then scroll way the heck down, click the arrow to show more options, then keep scrolling, before I finally get to "most recent." They definitely don't make it easy to find.
I use a i6plus I still have the 3 line on Facebook.
Well I can’t find news feed setting at all from my I phone. Don’t really like FB all that much due to this stuff but if someone can find it (given they have fixed something that was working fine before again), I’d like to know. Until then...off to twitter and you tube to share with friends.

My news feed will show a number representing new posts, but when I tap it on my phone, it goes to a friend recommendation page.
Nothing about old post popping up over and over even though you keep hiding them.

Hi heres a very odd question re Facebook. Bear with me..... My cat decided to run around over my keyboard while out and opened all kinds of files and also managed somehow to enable formatting on a page I run. I now get underlining bold and the paragraph symbol when I am pasting or writing a new post??? Its crazy I know.....and I have absolutely no idea how to stop it let alone find the bloody formatting tool to turn it off. Any idea what my mad cat has done??

@@klaurvick4501 you know, I've actually been having that issue too, particularly for my business page (my ChickFix page). I'm getting comments and such on my posts, just not being notified about them. No idea why, but I suspect it's a FB glitch.

Okay, that's pretty ridiculous 😂. Is the sound problem when you're using your computer or your cell phone? Sometimes you have to update the drivers in your computer a from your manufacturer's website. I had to do that recently with my laptop. In particular, I couldn't hear anything through my Bluetooth headset.

Thanks for the sub! Facebook is always changing their algorithms, and I have no doubt that this will become obsolete quickly (or perhaps already has). But people kept telling me they were missing my videos on FB, so this was my way of explaining why and how to change that.

Why they do this

Have you ever thought "Top Stories" topic python algorithm rams itself in the face of the whole world, and causes the top story to be viewed more and more through spamming everyone with it... so is it really as much of a "top Story", as the algorithm believes?' Same as 'top products' php feature in Ecommerce software solutions, the more people who see 'top story' the more people click on it, and the more it becomes an un-smotherable 'top story' and tantamount to a Pinned Post. - It never goes away and the algorithm thinks it is trending, but the trend was created by spamming it as a 'Top Story''. This then drowns the real current and happening real top stories which are being smothered by spam-clicks due to a 'Top Stories' carousel section. The algorithm strengthens the top stories with more clicks, and pins them forever to the top of the charts. The price of advertising on such a space, then becomes highly profitable. The algorithm is designed to optimise profits from ads through increased views, NOT designed to feed you the most interesting content or useful content for your tastes. Companies are pragmatic and their board of governors are also heartless and pragmatic, and all they care about is money, getting it off us, and keeping us in need of them.. not our entertainment

Hey hello!!! First say in big letters YOU CANT CHANGE YOUR NEWS FEED FROM YOUR PHONE!!!! So login to your account via computer and then as a intelligent person you can figure it out yourself without all the mumbo Jumbo!!!

And actually, I CAN change it on my phone. I've heard you can't change it on an iPhone, but on my Android, the app has three little lines up in the corner. You click that and scroll down to "See more," click that, keep scrolling, and eventually you'll find "most recent." They don't make it easy, and it is quite varied, but it is there.
