    I love the Conquest Paladin.
    6th level Aura of Protection adds your CHA modifier to allies Saving Throws.
    7th level Aura of Conquest makes creatures frighten of you, unable to run.
    9th level you get the Fear spell.
    10th level Aura of Courage gives you the audacity to not be feared despite making others fear you.

      It's definitely one of the subclasses with the strongest synergies built in. I really like it too. And the spell list has some nice stuff too.

    one of the best paladin subclasses. i typically don't go past paladin 2 whenever i use paladin in my builds but if i were to build paladin as a main class, this and the oathbreaker would be the 2 paladin types to build around. this would be definitely fear-based. i think a core chassis of conquest 7 and hexblade 1 is good to start with then you can go in different directions. going up to pal 9 is still fine to pick up fear is fine if you're not satisfied with cause fear from warlock, wrathful smite and your channel divinity as fear generators. agreed on dragonborn with dragon fear as being the best race for another fear generator. personally, i'd triple class to sorc for quicken spell and better spell slot progression. the big weakness of the build though is as you go up the tiers, more and more enemies are immune to frightened so its effectivity peaks mid tier 2 until the end of tier 2 then diminishes as you go up tier 3.

      Yes, I really like conquest as well.

      @@thedungeon1578 have you done a conquest pal build already?

    Just pointing it out, Sentinel feat does not reduce the speed to "0" when using the feat feature of attacking a creature that attacks on another creature. That is NOT an Attack of Opportunity. It is an attack granted by the feat that uses a reaction.

    really nice and detailed cover of the subclass.

    Thanks for this review! I wanted a pure tank sword n board and was weighing between Conquest and Redemption Pally! I like the 0 movement especially with knocking my enemy prone with a shield shove or bash as i call it! Mages prone cant cast i think?!? And rogues are now melted butter… i plan to rule as a human to grab the extra feat… shield mastery, sentinel, and mage slayer.. ? Where my thoughts. But at least this video has solidified my Oath of Conquest, but not the burden remains on my feat build and spells…
    New to your page, so thank you!

    • @TheRobversion1
      @TheRobversion1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      prone casters can still cast.
      i'd stay away from mage slayer. shield mastery is decent but if you're using a reach weapon, you'll most likely skip it as well.

    Is polearm master actually good on this paladin? I love the flavour of a polearm with this build but so many things (wrathful smite, spiritual weapon, shield of faith, divine favor, etc) take up your bonus action that its really only the reaction from PAM that seems useful. Am I wrong?
    Has anyone played this build with PAM and care to share their experiences?
    Im playing a variant human and cant decide between PAM for flavor, sentinel for more reactions, or heavy armor master to synergize with armor of agathys

    • @thedungeon1578
      @thedungeon1578  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mean, PAM is pretty good on any martial, and getting another opportunity to smite is never a bad thing. That said, you are certainly right that the bonus action is pretty crowded. I would certainly value it far less on this character than I would a champion fighter, for instance. First, he has less to worry about during his bonus action, and second he's got more feats available, so the opportunity cost for him is also far less. In the end, it really depends on how often you want to cast smite spells, how long your combats tend to last (if spiritual weapon is actually going to do more damage than a 2nd level spell slot used for a smite, for instance), and whether you still plan on using divine favor and other buffs as the game continues. I tend to find I get a lot more millage from some of these abilities early on, so personally I might start to value PAM a lot more the deeper the campaign gets.
      Great comment and question though. Thanks :)

    Thanks for your videos! I always enjoy them, and they inspire a lot of my builds. I made a Sorcadin a while back after watching your video on that multiclass. It’s currently 5 levels of Conquest and 3 levels of Divine Sorcerer, and I’d like to take at least 2 more levels of Divine to get Haste and Spirit Guardians. I also chose to play a Leonin, for the extra racial frighten bonus action. Looking at this video, though, rather than going 5 Paladin 15 Sorcerer, you’ve tempted me to take at least a few more levels of Paladin to get the Auras. Would you suggest something like 7/13, 8/12 etc.? I might even lean heavy on the Paladin side to make him a little more a brute. Any tips you have are most appreciated! Thanks again!

      I really like 6 or 7 levels of paladin, but you can go heavier if you like. Mixing in 1 level of hexblade warlock isn't a bad idea either. If you plan on using fear effects a lot, I might really want the 7th level of Paladin, but if not I think 6 is probably good.

      for sorcadins generally i prefer as less of paladin as possible like a 2 level dip then dipping hexblade 1 as dungeon rob said then the rest in sorc. however for those paladins with very powerful level 7 abilities like the oathbreaker and conquest, i'd go with a different split to maximize that aura. i'd definitely go 7-8 conquest, dip 1 hexblade then go 11-12 sorc. make sure to pick up cause fear to have more options for your fear dependent aura. going dragonborn and getting dragonfear feat is also a great idea.

    Hey man, enjoy the video and looking for a little help!
    Currently in a lvl 2 party with a monk and another paldain. Monk is obviously full DPS and other paladin is saying he'll go protective healer.
    We're going to hit lvl 3 soon and I'm thinking of which oath to take and whether to multiclass (and into what?). DM apparently enjoys hordes of enemies rather than 1 big boss so I'm angling towards conquest for the crowd-control. Fighting style is great weapon fighting and my STR and CHA is both 16. Do you have any suggestions for which oath would suit this group and if multiclassing could be a good time? Thanks

    • @thedungeon1578
      @thedungeon1578  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Conquest is a really good idea imo. You've got some great spells on your spell list, and the fear aura has a lot of nice synergies as well. Some nice control plus great damage options. Can't really go wrong.

    • @TheRobversion1
      @TheRobversion1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      multiclassing is always a good time as long as you know what you're doing. agreed with dungeon rob here that conquest is indeed best for crowd control. that's a very fear-dependent subclass so dragonborn with dragon fear is the best race for it. a hexblade 1 dip is good for aligning your attack and cast stat. pick up the cause fear spell as well.

      It is... but being part of the oath list, its always prepared and dont count towards your number of spells prepared for the day, so its handy (not as much as the other ones but hey...)
