    Fill the basket with fine ground dark roast and put an aeropress paper filter on top of it. Fill to just below safety valve with boiling water and tighten top holding base with a towel, turn it on, and it makes 1 awesome cup of wake up juice.

    whats the difference between the Delongi Alicia Moka Pot vs the Bialetti Moka Express Moka Pot? which is better in terms of brewing and taste?

    That's funny because here in Europe (the part of France that borders with Italy) they never dared calling it an espresso machine, just an electric moka style machine. So I totally agree with you.
    I bought mine in 2015, it has a timer/alarm and wakes me up with 3 beeps and a fresh coffee. I use it at least once everyday and after 6 years of faithful services it is still working. I love that brand.

    That little round disc is actually placed under the coffee to cut in half the room in the filter basket for those who don't need to make an entire pot of coffee. Using the disc, you'd put in half the amount of coffee and water.

    Hello, love your review video. Clear and informative.
    I have a 5-cup Bonavita dripping maker but i'm the only person drinks 1-2 cups daily at home. But to me, a keruig maker doesn't taste quite different from a dripping coffee maker, not to mention pots are much more pricy than beans. Yet, a common stove top Mocha Maker doesn't fit my flame stove, the heater dimension is wider than the bottom of maker.
    Can I ask you that if the tasty level of your electric one is better than a keruig machine?

      Hi Angela! Thank you very much. I do feel like the electric moka pot is better that a keurig. You get more flavor from the coffee and you can also control the grind size to your liking. The water gets hotter so the coffee is extracted better than a Keurig maker. I do prefer light to medium with this brewer because it brings out so much flavor that dark roast tastes too strong in my opinion. But many people love that! If you get one, let me know how you like it. I prefer it over the stovetop model.

    The only thing is that the little cover that you get in the packet is to actually taped the coffee, the more tight the coffee the better results you get.

    • @BeanHoppersCraftCoffee
      @BeanHoppersCraftCoffee  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never have an issue because I rinse it out right away. But I'd recommend a coffee descaling solution and running it through your brewer, then rinsing it very well a few times. That should work great!

      I haven’t had the best luck with the darker roasts. Seems too overpowering to me and also bitter. I know some people like bitter but I don’t. Do you feel yours is bitter? Do you make the traditional Cuban coffee? I do love that!

    • @BeanHoppersCraftCoffee
      @BeanHoppersCraftCoffee  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! If a lot of water is left in the bottom that is not normal. If there is just a small amount (a 1/2 oz or less) then that's pretty normal. There are a few drops left when I brew it. If it's more, then you should return it for a new one because something isn't working right. However, if you're using coffee that is too fine, or your compacting down your grounds, all of the water may not be able to get through. The coffee should not be compacted and you can try making your grinds a little more coarse and see if that helps!

      @@natalijafaridze2308 if only making enough for one, it comes with an adjustable metal top to put into the coffee basket to put less coffee in it, and you would use less water. Even though it may not be an espresso coffee maker in the traditional sense, the six-cup/three-cup capacity is based on espresso shots. not 8 ounce cups of coffee

    What type of grinder were you using for that?

    • @BeanHoppersCraftCoffee
      @BeanHoppersCraftCoffee  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My grinder is the OXO conical burr with integrated scale. I usually use a 6 for medium drip and this brewing method did better with a 6.5 or 7. Just slightly coarser than drip.

    ?! Wow! You say don’t use Dark Roast, BUT you WAY Over Filled how much coffee ground you put into it?! No Wonder it was too strong! I like Strong coffee, but I use the proper amount, one good table spoonful of French Roast for 8 ounces of water.

    • @BeanHoppersCraftCoffee
      @BeanHoppersCraftCoffee  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the feedback F. Mako. You know.... you're right. I didn't try that. I felt the mocha pot should be used for "espresso like" ratios. One double shot of espresso is only 2 oz. using 18 grams. BUT I have not tried the proper coffee/water ratio and I think I will definitely try that experiment tomorrow. Now you have me curious :-)

    • @makofoto
      @makofoto 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BeanHoppersCraftCoffee Haha! And I’m going to try MORE coffee, since all I’m getting is Coffee, and not Expresso. I’m using “fancy” Italian expresso coffee, BUT … in reviewing the instruction for our machine, it says use Medium Roast?! So definitely confused! :-)

    • @BeanHoppersCraftCoffee
      @BeanHoppersCraftCoffee  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@makofoto Yes this coffee maker claims to make four servings of espresso. And I believe the intention is to fill it all the way up. However I really think lighter roasted coffee tastes amazing using this method. Let me know how it goes for you and I’ll let you know how my experiment turns out.

    • @makofoto
      @makofoto 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BeanHoppersCraftCoffee Last night I doubled the amount of coffee that I usually use. Two heaping coffee measuring spoons, and I used a Medium roast, as recommended in the Instructions. It made a very strong but smooth cup of coffee. (I always add 1/2 & 1/2 and two Splenda). I use this device for making the odd cup of late afternoon coffee. We use a drip machine in the morning, using French Roast, to make 6 cups, that gives us a good three+ mugs of morning sunshine. I don’t think our Alicia can make real Expresso. But what it can pproduces is basically a good quick cup of smooth strong coffee. No Crema …

    • @BeanHoppersCraftCoffee
      @BeanHoppersCraftCoffee  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@makofoto I just tried your ratio using dark Sumatra and it was great! I used 11 grams of coffee and 8 oz of water (to the fill line). It’s a rich cup like an americano would be. Love it. I do like my method too but I always dilute it with water so it can make more servings. I like to drink it black. But if I want to make something fun and use frothed milk or sweetener I leave it full strength. But the 11 grams of dark coffee makes a perfect one serving of regular strength coffee! 😊 glad we could collaborate and share our methods!

      @@BeanHoppersCraftCoffee I just searched, and apparently, it is common to run it under cold water to stop the brewing! Usually, shocking metals are not a good idea as they crack over time, but since everyone is doing it, I guess it doesn't matter much?
