I used the Marconi 2945A for about 10 years, then went to the IFR 2945B and finished on a VIAVI 8800SX before retiring about a year ago. I loved the Maroni/IFR Testsets as I used to use them for the longest period in my courier. This 2955A is missing the BNC RF Input in the Top Right Hand Corner.
Great video! I have 2 2955s and a 2955B. I also have lcd kits for all 3 and one xo. I only plan to install then when needed. Why mess with them while working! A great instrument for sure that I could only dream of back kn the day. Thank you for all your 2955 video's and tutorials. It certainly means a lot to us who use them and need to keep them running. I need to find a pdf version of the manual and service.these eyes don't work so good anymore and when studying the schematics it is getting tough
Very interesting video of the 2955 repair I worked as a repair tech at a depot that repaired the Motorola series of comms analyzers in the early 90s,specifically the R2001A/B/C and D series and also the baby versions of these, the R2200 and R2400. These Marconi test sets seem to be a lot less modular than the Motorola units as far as the way they were built and designed. We would normally swap out a faulty module or card and get the customer unit back into service asap and repair the faulty module at our leisure at a later stage
Incrível! viva a década de 70! Nasci em 71. Esse deve ser o pai do TC3, e outros atuais. Só não tem o banco de dados dos componentes para ser um testador e identificador...
That looks like a cross between a Trans Oceanic radio 📻 and a Shortwave radio. Can ya DX on it 🤔 at night? That's one FANTASTIC piece of equipment!! Too bad the electrolytic capacitors go bad in time. It shouldn't be too hard to recap this radio!! Just subbed!! Your friend, Jeff!!
Very informative video. I have one of these test sets and it fails all tests! You mentioned if the cap bacomes short circuit then several self tests would error only. But what if all fail?
Thank you for your dedication/time going over this unit. Most appreciated.

I recently modded mine with the LCD swap. Had to very carefully clean the step attenuator and also needed to swap out the OM345 hybrids. Works A1 now.
Anyone found a source for OM modules (original or modern replica)?
Ebay
Although you can actually “fix” the original - info on the net somewhere
Hi I have sent you a email
