  • Alright folks...settle in for a longer one this week because...
    IT'S EPISODE #100!
Plus, we've got two special guests to help us discuss the topic for today. Our son and daughter join us to answer some questions about what it has been like to have a VIP for a parent.
We also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who listens to the podcast. Doing 100 episodes means nothing if there aren't people out there listening. So thank you so much!

I'm not part of your target audience, I know, but I loved this episode. Your kids were personable, they were good sports about being interviewed, AND you seemed to particularly enjoy yourself, too. No idea what went on behind the scenes... 😉 but it was lovely. Hugs to you all. Hope you'll do something like that again in future. 💖

Your kids are lovely and funny. 😊 My mom was totally blind, so that was normal for me growing up as well. I don’t have kids, but now that I’m the VIP, I get the perspective of that side of things. Congrats on your 100th episode.

You have such wonderful kids, Derek in April! It is so nice to finally meet them.
I think that I have learned from other kids probably would be their perspective of how they do things or what they see versus what I see or two.
Thank you Nora and Aubrey for coming onto this podcast! it was totally awesome to meet both of you. I hope maybe we will see you again in another one.

Enjoying your video's. Congratulations on your 100th episode! As a VIP, I live alone, am pretty independent, and don't have children. Keep up the good work.

Congrats on your 100th episode! The kids were great! Really enjoyed seeing them and hearing from them. I’d be lost without my husband, my sighted supporter.

This was a wonderful episode, and you’ve got some great kids Derrick and April. It was nice to hear their perspectives as kids of a VIP. 👍🏼

Hey, Derek and April! Congratulations on getting to your 100 podcast episode!
I too have benefited seeing the perspective between the VIP and the excited support. I have even currently started sharing your videos with a friend of mine, who just lost their site and she is Having a hard time.
I have been watching the TH-cam version of the podcast since episode 45 I think. And since I have started watching, I have watched and learned about different things and technology and I have gotten a lot of wonderful insight and. How to deal with vision loss, and like you always say, Derek, quotation marks there’s life after sight loss and it’s so very true.
Thank you April for being a part of the broad cast, and it has been a blessing to see you and Derek together. Thank you both again for all that you do, and the time that you put into Giving us this wonderful content and informative videos. God bless you both.

Hey Derek as I have told you in the past, I am a HUGE fan of yours man! I have listened to/watches all 100 episodes. Between your TH-cam channel and your podcast I feel that what you do is so vitally critical man! And adding April to the podcast has just made it more awesome. She is such a sweetheart . She brings a different viewpoint to the podcast as a sighted supporter, as a wife, as a mother, and as a woman and you two just compliment each other so well. Both of your children are awesome and you guys should be pround of the fine parents you are.
There are specifically a couple of things kids in general have taught me. The first thing is patience, they will test you. lol The second is, I feel I am a much better person. Kids have their own way of looking at things and sometimes as adults we think our way is the right way that we tend to get tunnel vision.

Wow Doug...these are such kind and encouraging words. We so appreciate it! And, yeah, I agree about what you have learned from kids. Teaches me to continue to have an open mind and keep learning. Thanks again!

Congratulations on your hundredth episode. And I am a parent of two beautiful daughters and now a grandfather to four beautiful grandchildren. I’ve been a VIP all my life and so my children experience similar to what years did. It was just normal. It was different but normal.
I would say children, give you a fresh perspective of a situation that you may not see. That’s why I always enjoy getting a child’s opinion or observation. God bless.

Great video as usual, & congratulations on episode 100! 🎉 when Noah was talking about Cains & he joked about what breed is your Cain? it reminded me of a neighbour who saw me out walking with my Cain and asked how I managed and actually asked if it had some kind of GPS that guides me to wherever I need to be!, it was such an odd question & I wasn’t ready for it, that I just smiled, said no, and kept on walking!! I was thinking to myself as I walked away, how did he not know how a white Cain is used?
Even as a child I knew. it was great to “see” your kids, and thanks again for the time and effort that you put into the videos, it’s very much appreciated! 😊

Thanks for your kind words! And, honestly, before I lost my sight, I would have had no idea how things worked. It just wasn't something in my knowledge base. But, we all live and learn new things all the time!

Great to see your kiddo's! It's odd to me your son has your features, and your daughter has your wife's features. It's the other way around in my family. Son has my features, and my daughter has her dad's features. 100th anniversary awesome!

Hi, thanks for this video. It's funny, our boys are 14 and 16 and I've never thought to ask them these questions. Even though I've wondered about it before. The next time I have their undivided attention I'm going to have to ask! Great job guys on 100 episodes and a great channel that I have found so very helpful.

Loved this episode! Thank you. I laughed quite a bit. That glass door - oh well, I run into a big pole in the middle of a narrow pavement and I do laugh about it now. Glad there were no witnesses though And no concussion:)

keep up the great work! Love the different perspectives! i am a visually impaired Husband and father of 2 and most things are just normal life for us but for others they are surprised or amazed how we get things done. It is interesting to see how "normal families" view a family with a VIP
