For all who want to buy this lens, I know he said that the newer versions make "minor" improvements, but go for the 3rd Gen (pro model). It has reduced distortion, which was a problem with the first two.
My base video sequence is 16:9, thats where I put both 16:9 and 21:9 footage. 21:9 will obviously leave black bars on top & bottom unless I crop/zoom in.
I tried it on a iPhone 14 Pro (which also has a bigger sensor) and although there wasnt any vignetting there was more out of focussing and chromatic abberation i guess on the edges.
Interesting. Are you using the clip or a dedicated case with a 17mm mount thread? I'm thinking there's a slight distance between your phone lens and the anamorphic glass OR the more recent iphone cameras just have a slightly wider angle that makes it more susceptible to vignetting on this lens (which was designed 2-3 years ago before the iphone 11). Best remedy is just to crop in post, which I do anyways because the desqueezed 1.33x image is too wide and a little extreme for my liking. Hope that helps.
Yes it does. You just need an app like Filmic Pro to preview your shot desqueezed. Otherwise you can desqueeze it yourself afterwards in your desktop editing program.
Yes it works with all modern smartphones, especially with the universal clip provided. Need an app to desqueeze it, but not necessary since you can desqueeze in post while editing.

And I want an anamorphic lens because I have an app that allows you to record in a 3:4 aspect ratio (Motiomcam is the name of the app)
