    Good plan with commendable goals. One thing that helped me get to an advanced level of reading was reading multiple books by the same author. The advantage is that authors tend to use the same vocabulary and expressions so you can read more quickly while still progressing. And it really establishes those words and expressions in your brain. In my case, I’ve read many books by Émile Zola. I don’t know who to recommend in Italian but I’m sure you can find someone. Of course, it has to be an author that you like. After five years of reading mostly French novels I read French at the same speed as English, though my vocabulary is, of course, still bigger in English. I’m not gifted at languages; it’s a demonstration of time and persistence.

      I did that with Fabio Volo novels, I rattled through 6 or 7 books pretty quickly

      Good idea. My first Italian book was Sortilegi di Bianca Pitzorno. I will try to get more books of her.

    I can't speak Italian fluently, my level is very basic but every day I heard podcast and understand a lot 🥹🥳.

    "Speaking with a foreign accent is brave."
    It's true! Speaking as someone who was born in England but moved to Ireland, I can relate to that. Now I'm going to Italy :)

      It's not a problem to speak with a foreign accent or make grammatical errors, the important thing is to be able to communicate.
      We Italians are happy and surprised when a foreigner manages to communicate in Italian, we don't pay much attention to his pronunciation.

    I am going to do this. I need a clear goal for 2024. I think 2023 was definitely a big breakthrough year with my Italian.

    Thanks for the podcast recomandation. I love true crime as well and will try Elisa True Crime. Have you listened to the series Veleno by La Repubblica? It's a heartbreaking story, but very interesting.

    Have you shared your book recommendations for B1-B2 levels?

    • @SheaJordan
      @SheaJordan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Not yet! Because honestly I haven’t read a lot of books that I really loved. 😂 A lot of them were cheesy romance books because they were a bit easier to read but I don’t know that I would really recommend them. 🤔 But I could share the ones I’ve read anyway.

    If you like true crime podcasts, I highly recommend Demoni Urbani, it’s my favorite Italian podcast by far. Anything written and narrated by Carlo Lucarelli is also very good.

      Elisa De Marco e' la regina indiscussa di true crime. There are many good Italian TH-camrs in this genre who have recently started and don't have podcasts yet.

    I'm currently learning French, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese. Are you planning to learn French 🇫🇷, Spanish 🇪🇸, and Portuguese 🇵🇹? They are all beautiful and sweet languages 🥰♥️😊

    • @SheaJordan
      @SheaJordan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I studied Spanish in high school and once I tried French but didn’t really like it. Portuguese would be interesting!

    I’m struggling with that damn plateau as well. I’d like to break through it as well. Also hoping that expanding my vocab and use of it will help tremendously
