Your intentions for this channel was to give people who have recently been diagnosed with Spinal Cord Injuries a light at the end of a very dark tunnel. I have to have say, that for people like myself, who was born with a physical disability that's had me in a wheelchair my entire life (over 30 years) these videos have been a major help for me as well.

I am 56. I use wheel chair because of MS destroying my nerves.
Maybe this year you could have some older wheel chair users and different reasons for wheelchair use. Like disease and differing abilities. You and other wheelchair TH-camrs have help me tremendously. Thank you.

I agree, I also have MS and although not yet in a wheelchair it is inevitable. Been researching everything I can. This channel has given me hope that I can keep my independence.

100% this. I'm 56 as well and use a wheelchair because of a degenerative bone disease and connective tissue disorder. I love your channel Richard, but my biggest suggestion would be more content for non-paralyzed and ambulatory wheelchair users. One of my favorite videos you did was talking about why you use your wheelchair if you can walk, and using the video game graphics really helped folks understand my situation. One other topic that is still eluding me is navigating in snow and cold climates. Perhaps you could find another youtuber who lives in a cold climate and do a collab? I'm housebound and cannot leave for literally weeks at a time because I can't navigate in the snow and ice, and don't have folks to help. Thanks!

100% I got my wheelchair last month. I have ms too. I'm 28 now. This channel and a few others have helped me learn and accept my need for my chair, how to use my chair and how to live with it, tips and tricks. Etc.
Because of this channel I knew about how my wheelchair fitting and what I'd like roughly and what type I wanted (self propelled over electric).

I might add, this page has been fantastic because those of us who've never been to rehab (I can't even get PT - long story) have never learned the "right" way to do things. I've asked, and just been told I need to figure it out. Videos like these are a lifeline to those of us who've never been in rehab.

Dianna Newton coming up on 28. April 17th, 10 days after I turned 27 I got my first chair, I had been on bedrest for 5 month prior and started watching Richard In January- by the time I got my own chair I was so hyped up for it and my experience has been 99% incredible- I LOVE my chair and my disability, I feel so excited and alive every time I look at my chair... if you’d like you are more than welcome over on my channel too- I’ll be doing a few similarish things to this channel in the coming future as well as talking mental health, interviews and more- no pressure but most certainly welcome. I hope you’re well, please don’t give up on yourself- every negative can be turned positive, I promise you that. (That’s what made me start my channel)

For you it's been 10 years, for me it's been... well, 34, 22 of them in a wheelchair, and you showed me a whole new perspective how to approach my entire state of being. While I'm not always on the same page with you, I do appreciate what you do, and in the 1 week of knowing about your channel I already made some progress. So your channel doesn't just help people recently stuck in a wheelchair cope with their situation, you also help more isolated, less successful long-time wheelchair users.

I couldn’t walk for almost half of the year last year and was a wheelchair user because I passed out at a camp and it made a part of my brain not be able to correctly send signals to walk and I also didn’t have feeling in my legs. I couldn’t except the fact that I couldn’t walk and had to use a wheelchair and it made me super depressed. I even had to start my 10th grade year in a wheelchair. But I discovered your channel and I watched every video:) you showed me that it’s ok to be different from others and I excepted my wheelchair and after months of physical therapy every day I’m back to walking. I still have trouble on days here and there but you inspired me and so many people and I just want to say thank you.

So glad you're sharing your story and you're healing from the car accident. I had to start using a mobility device in 2013 when I suddenly started inexplicably losing my mobility at the age of 32. I was eventually diagnosed with a rare neuromuscular disease. Thank you for your inspiration. I know some of the things you gone true, but history is always different. I fight to have the right to live a life that i feel is worth something. I am happy with a wife that is my Bunker. I wish you all the best or 2020, and hope you will have a year with a lot of good experiences . Best wishes from Jan in Norway

Similar to Tracy Thompson, only I am 72 and been in a power chair for two years due to complications from an old injury and poor medical treatment. Age really makes it hard to regain abilities, keeping weight down antibiotic resistance and such. For those needing it, Toyota makes a Sienna Mini Van with an OEM lift seat and I had a trailer to haul my chair in.

Nearly nineteen years ago I was born with Cerebral Palsy. Since birth I've been in a wheelchair, I've never been able to walk or stand on my own. I've had over fifty two surgeries on my body. It's hard. I'm not going to sugarcoat it. Having a physical illness is very overwhelming, and I struggle mentally everyday. I'm learning to slowly come to terms with things even though it's already been nineteen years ❤
