This LT-1 is a verified no hit body with original #s match motor, trans and rear. It includes a 5 1/2 page inspection report from a knowledgeable Corvette person. It is also listed in the C3 registry. Overall very good 78,900 mile original car maintained as needed.
The legendary LT-1: It has been said it wouldn't be fair to compare to other small blocks, it is in the league of high performance big blocks and it weighs less. Only 1,287 LT-1s were built total in 1970, less than 500 were convertibles. This was also the year with the highest horsepower making it the most desirable. The LT-1 option had a hefty price tag of $448 compared to a big block that only cost $289.
EXTERIOR: No hit body. Each panel was inspected by a Corvette expert and noted as "no evidence of any prior damage". The gaps are real good. The LT-1s have the raised hood. It's repainted it's original and rare Laguna Gray color. Done in a base coat-clear coat. It is smooth and glossy. Minor imperfections if you look for them. The front bumper and grills are nice originals and fit nice. The weathershields are still behind the grills protecting the headlights. The rear bumpers, emblems and door handles were replaced. The white convertible top looks great. It also has a removable hardtop. It's repainted and overall very good shape. The windshield is replaced, weatherstrips are very good. The 15x8 rally wheels have new trim and the BFG tires look new.
INTERIOR: Replaced upholstery, door panels and carpet. Very good original dash, seat backs, seatbelts, visors and console. It is unabused, not damaged or cut. It still has correct reverse lockout shifter. The 6,500 redline tachometer is unique to the LT-1. Rear storage compartments are good, it still has the original date coded jack.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Verified original #s matching motor. The casting codes, dates and stamp pad have been inspected. It has correct heads, intake, carb, balancer, oil pan, exhaust manifolds, water pump etc. The finned valve covers, ignition shielding and alternator are correct. It even has the correct smog system. The vacuum pods for the headlights and wiper door were replaced. Every thing looks proper and tidy.
UNDERSIDE: Looking up at the motor it is clean Chevy orange, the starter looks fresh. Verified original #s matching M21 close ratio Muncie 4-speed. Original 3.70 posi rear. These cars have independent suspension front and rear. It has a combination of original and replaced components. The shocks, swaybar bushings, balljoints, idler arm and rear spring was replaced. The rear half shafts were rebuilt with new joints. It was noted in the inspection that the "car drives very nice with no vibrations". The exhaust is in excellent shape with correct square tips. These cars come with disc brakes at all 4 wheels. The e-brake assembly is hooked up. It has a solid original frame. The chassis was cleaned up and spray painted. The fiberglass floors are not damaged. The spare tire carrier is complete and in great shape.
This is an investment grade Corvette. It's very desirable, rare and verified authentic. Most likely there are only about 20 like this that exists. Less than 500 LT-1 convertibles were made, 8% were this color. How many survived?
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.

I love the comments on this color ... Absolutely perfect for this car. Love the black interior as well. One person commented on Jay's knowledge and description on every vehicle that comes through ... This is one of the reasons I rarely even view anywhere but Volo. He does indeed know his stuff on what he sells ... And if he doesn't, he researches until he finds it. This is indeed an outstanding 70 roadster ...well presented and described. And considering what this car offers, listed at a great price. Thank you for sharing.

You always seem to find the most beautiful muscle cars from the mid-50s to the early seventies I've seen in a while. This is no exception! As it was on the turntable I noticed just above the passenger side headlight door before the hood it seems to be pretty wavy. I know the lights sometimes make it look like there's an imperfection when there's not but this looks to be a small flaw. Have you noticed that or is it the lights throwing things off? Not putting the car down at all it is absolutely beautiful. I didn't think I would care for that color but it looks like it was made for that car. Thanks for always showing us some of the best quality cars I've ever seen. Take care and keep the beautiful cars coming!

Mechanically rebuilt also or just cosmetics?
Love the sound of cold forged pistons and solid lifters, that screams performance, not poser to me.
Id wanna get some real nice heads on it painted orange and maybe a Z 25 or 35 Isky cam, headers even with smog hooked up . Would flat out haul azz
No need for a 5th gear on these fwy speeds 65ish is perfect cruise rpm for these.
Id run mine 3200-3500 rpm for hours at a time Ca freeways it was pretty happy there. Never got hot, was in that sweet spot of cruising/vs powerband

Beautiful car and one of the fastest, if not the fastest production small block ever produced. The only minor knock was the cooling system. From the factory these cars ran very hot and often had overheating issues. I saw one years ago, maybe 1982 where a custom radiator and shroud was fitted to address the issue. I asked the owner if it addressed the problem and he said “much improved, but not perfect”.

    • @thud9797
      @thud9797 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

There were no issues with the cooling on any small block C3. Even big blocks with A/C stayed under 210 so not sure where your experience comes from. The L88 obviously which was a street legal race car and came with no fan shroud would overheat in traffic but that was to be expected trying to drive a race car on the street. Usually any overheating is owner induced with modifications or a worn fan clutch but in stock condition there were no issues.

      @@thud9797 Right on the money!
If I owned one today, being in Ca id do the following, kept all my old cars cool even in bad heat
      Milodon 160 stat
Flexalite nylon fan. I hear they make similar with larger blades, can be used wtih or without clutch. Speedway sells them.
Once a yr with a garden hose from the backside flush all the fins out.
Not enough? Wire in a fan that works off a temp switch, comes on at 200 off at 185-190. Bulletproof!

@@thud9797 LT1 was neutered by then. Remember when muscle in most cars just stopped...for many years. Noone was sure if we would ever get powerful cars again. Decals fake scoops etc were all anything had through the late 70s, to 81-2

    • @thud9797

      @@gordocarbo
It lost 20 hp from 71, from 275 net to 255 net. Don't know if this was a real loss or just on paper. It still had the Holley and solid cam thru 72 and could still run mid 14s at about 100 mph so 72 was really the last hurrah to the 60's. The next year the LT-1 went hydraulic cam and iron intake q-jet and became the L82, still ran ok and rated at 250 hp. In 75 with the cat converter is when everybody hit the wall and it was totally over for a while.

Wonder if the trailing arms, other bushings are dried/bad or totally gone through.
