The Telefunken E88CC - if made in german Ulm production plant - is the best E88CC / 6922 you can possibly get. I highly recommend it. It will last a life long. I have found TFK E88CC in pro equipment working since 50 years, and the tube is still in perfect condition. Do not put it in a chinese amp with improper filament voltage though, as this will shorten the tube's life. This tube is for well engineered high end audio only. Kevin: I like your video
I bought one tube for my audio research LS2 preamp. I’m so excited how this tube sounds. Sweet highs but the biggest improvement was in the midrange. I was thinking about going up the audio research preamp chain to upgrade, BUT It sounds like I had an upgrade with this tube. This bought me 2 or 3 years before I probably make that move.
Well beyond out-of-control at about $750 a pair for Upscale Audio’s “Gold” quality, $800 for “Platinum,” and $820 for “Kevin’s Stash.” Purely on principal, I wouldn’t buy these. I’m sure they only cost a few dollars to make, back in the day. If they lasted a lifetime, that might make them a somewhat less ridiculous purchase, but considering the short life of tubes, and the uncertainty of them even meeting their expected life-span, I can think of better ways of spending money to improve my music listening, such as room treatments.
hello friend, isaac here, i bought a telefunken e88cc tube recently but i have doubts if it is really original. how do I identify if it is in fact a genuine piece? what signs should I watch????
hey. I actually stumbled upon a pair of these by chance that are in pristine condition. the only difference is that the logo is gold and the only other place I've seen a picture of the gold logo is on your website. if you have any more information could you fill me in? Thanks, Travis
Absolutely beautiful. Who knows how many valuable nos tubes are out there that have been hidden away and forgotten.
