I would not describe it as a fail. I have been playing DDO since its release and still enjoy it. It could be much better with a new game engine and a bigger development team, but SSG does a good job for such a small company.
Hasbro, their digital department is horrible, and they love to kill franchises, DDO could have been bigger, but they wanted it to use 4e then eventually 5e rules, which Turbine didn't want to deal with.
@@chacka1140 On the top end what's the gameplay loop like? What keeps you coming back? I am asking as someone who doesn't really enjoy most MMOs but the few that I do I think stand apart from the main stream ones.
@@Krobelux DDO has three different main end game loops that are all taken seriously by their own fans and can be mixed. Pretty standard raiding (16 player raids, i think from memory) and optimizing your gear from that with something like biweekly lockouts, thing I think ddo is often known for is it's reincarnation systems, you level up and then reset your level in exchange for a small permanent power boost, then I'd say the 3rd thing the end game focuses on is it's scaling into silly difficulty levels for almost all quests reaper mode system (which has it's own power rewards). Besides that stuff DDO has a ton of stuff worth collecting like a self rez item from a single source with low drop rate, or various items to hold in your inventory that you can click to get most of the different buffs available in game (think more than 100 possible things to go for here, although a top 20 list would be more practical).
lol I spent thousands of dollars on this maybe a decade ago, then just gave up because they refused to improve their clunky ass UI. I thought of checking it again today and NOPE, the UI is still shit lol
Its sad to see how empty the cities are now, its not like it was ten years ago but atleast its still up and running.. i barely see anyone . Korthos village/ the harbour
Im really considering playing this. What is the community like? Do people wanna party? Or is it all end game focused and more solo play? Thank you for the response if you chose to do one
How did the biggest RPG in the world fail as an online MMO?
This should have been the ultimate fever dream for any D&D fan.

It seems like the lever is something they rely on for sequencing.
some of the areas in the game like this 12:40 look pretty good actually. i mean remember this game is almost 20 years old.
I wish this game became part of the esports tournaments.
Does one have to buy the game once to play it or is it generaly free?
Definitely find another game. They have zero clue what they're doing anymore and seem to hate money and its players. Legendary fail.
Playing it for 10+ years, best MMO ever ❤️
No.
have you triedlotro?
