This episode also highlights another dynamic that tends to get overlooked. Kitchen Nightmares, Bar Rescue, and all of the Nanny shows all have the same problem. They can only fix the problem while they're there. Once they leave, people tend to fall back into the habits that got them in trouble in the first place. Which actually ends up making the problems even worse. Most of the businesses in those shows go out of business within a year after the "rescuer" leaves. And that actually goes even further into a much, much larger dynamic. Big dramatic changes *never* stick. If you want to make real change, you *have* to make small, incremental change over time. However, that small incremental change can also be used to change things in a negative way as well, which is something we've seen in society as a whole, especially over the past couple decades. If a change is less than 10%, people get used to it and accept it as just the way it is. The boiled frog dilemma.

Being "not interested" has already proven in Death of Eric Cartman to be one of the only reliable methods to tame Cartman. The mistake everyone always makes is that they try and argue with him, and that attention just feeds him. Cesar didn't compromise and does not engage. He simply dominates.

The thing about Cartman is that he is the most evil person in the show. He's literally worse than Satan and even then, he isn't an irredeemable character. This is shown in future episodes as well, be it very seldomly that he is capable of being a good person. The issue is that his mother enables this bad behavior because Eric is the only male in her life who hasn't left. This leads to a very unhealthy co-dependency where Lianne (That's her name) needs Eric to stay while he takes advantage of the situation. It's kinda depressing in that regard.

    • @RyunosukeHachi
      @RyunosukeHachi ปีที่แล้ว +11

It’s also that Cartman refuses to change himself, and the times that he does manage to get on the road to bettering himself, he finds a way to sabotage himself. The COVID specials showed that getting him away from South Park could help him, but it could screw everyone else up as well.

The way I took Cartman glitching, throwing up black ooze, and morphing into several states is that he’s experiencing the cognitive dissonance of his personality, one part being his higher conscience or morals, and the other being the highly narcissistic, borderline psychopathic aspect of his nature. This is showcased through his internal voices manifesting themselves in a way that could be interpreted as split personality or Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). The black ooze and glitching I think are a comedic representation of this internal conflict, like a demon or entity leaving his body. It also could be something in pop culture that they are making fun of but I can’t guarantee that. It wouldn’t surprise me though, lol.

The episode you were wondering about where Cartman goes full Adolf is called the Passion of the Jew: Season 8 Episode 3. There is not any episode where Butters actually brings home a homeless person that I can think of it is just referenced to show how much of a kind soul butters is and how generous he can be, so naturally Eric would try to exploit it. The black liquid he coughs up is just a visual representation of the evil inside him but the internal struggle and glitching effect is a reference to the film Altered States. The Nannies referenced in the episode did not care about the parody. Super Nanny thought it was childish toilet humor and beneath her but Nanny Stella didn't really care one way or the other she would just like people to know that she is married and she does have children of her own. Cesar Milan thought it was hilarious, he was happy to be on and voice the character for Matt and Trey. Even though his "dominant" technique gets criticized for actual animal training because it is still a negative-reinforcement technique and the standard for animal training that is considered humane is positive reinforcement techniques. As it turns out Eric's mother has always been the problem with his behavior because she reinforces it. Personally, I love how Cartman brings a knife and a roll of paper towels, as if that would be enough to clean up all the blood from the potential murder scene. 😅

this episode is a perfect representation of reality. It is not how parents "teach" or "raise" their children but it's what kind of adults they are that decides how their children are going to turn out. If the child doesn't respect the parent that's on the parent and the child is going to turn out bad.

See I actually used to be a bit like Cartman, in the sense that I was socially awkward, however where I diverted is that I have a natural empathy on an instinctual level. My mom is honestly a saint with being able to put up with our craziness after everything she went through as a kid. I will not say exactly what out of respect for her but let's just say... I was difficult.
For perspective, I learned I had digestive issues since birth, resulting in me not getting proper sleep for the first 2 weeks of my life. When I got big strong enough to move on my own, I would often escape to go explore and end up scaring the hell out of my parents. The worst was apparently I snuck out really early and crawled under a garbage truck. That goodness the guy saw me, otherwise I wouldn't be here typing this. XD
If I had to make a guess, his mom wanted children but enjoys her 'passions' and often neglects Cartman emotionally when she fulfills her 'physical needs' with random men. I also suspect Cartman might have memory problems from mental trauma or something. His brain can pick up intellectual information just fine, but his visual memories remind me of someone with schizophrenia. They remember the emotions on a emotional and physical level, but the visuals or audio of the memory can be jumbled, distorted, or even have chucks missing. However that depends on the trauma that led up to it and what it was his body is blocking out. My guess... He probably saw his mom with other guys but not getting married and his brain probably blocks out the visual part and his mind refuses to believe what it hears because hearing something it didn't like. If I'm correct, this plus the fact she represses most of her negative feelings about him, because she loves him but it probably also causes so much physical stress on her to do so, her libido is higher than normal. This could create an unhealthy cycle of her neglecting him more, in order to relief that stress. And then, Eric in turn acts out more for attention, making his behavior worse over time. She doesn't see it because she's so starved for affection herself, she doesn't realize that she's feeding into the toxic cycle of his behavior.
Honestly it's kind crazy how subtly your brain will make you do certain things to relieve stress off of it. Muscle aches tell you to either move or rest your body, sharp pain means something is wrong in your nervous system, the source usual being somewhere along the path the pain goes. You yawn if your brain needs more oxygen or to let you know your tired... I think some people forget to take that time to stop and listen to those signs and really think "why is my body acting this way? Is it normal?". I know it sounds dumb but the amount of things they'd have to teach you to properly understand something like this, you would have enough knowledge for an early childhood development class. XD
Seriously though, if you are in pain and it's affecting you mentally, take a moment to stop and think. Did my physical pain start after a physical trauma or an emotional or mental one? If it was physical, don't beat yourself up, everyone heals at different rates. If it's mental or emotional then don't hold it in. You let it out that pent up energy, using a healthy outlet (like a hobby or exercise) and keep a cautious yet calm attitude about whatever may have caused the trauma. It's not always your fault your body reacts this way, it's learned behavior and if you learned a habit from watching someone else, try looking at it from a different angle and adjusting your behavior to be more healthy to your body. If the habit is harder to break than you thought, then you take it in baby steps. You may not see results right away but when you notice those results, it will build your confidence and push you harder to fix that habit.
And I'm not trying to be a bossy bitch or anything, don't do it because I said to do it. Do this is you KNOW you have an unhealthy habit, that is physically, emotionally, or mentally, damaging you. That is the biggest part people forget, Do it for you, do it for the people you love and want to be around for. Do it for you and the life you want to live. Do it for you, to feel the freedom of being in perfect balance.
Thanks for reading my ted talk/sagely advice. Feel free to ask questions but know I might not answer certain things and know that all my psychological knowledge is more from experience and observation, rather than normal book smarts. Thanks again for reading and I hope you all have a blessed day.

Have you seen the South Park movie Bigger Longer & Uncut? If not, you totally should. It's one of my favorite comedies.
Some other good episodes from a little earlier in the series:
    - Cartman Joins NAMBLA (season 4 episode 5)
    - Do the Handicapped Go to Hell + Probably (season 4 episodes 9 and 10 - you should watch the movie first, though)
    - It Hits the Fan (season 5 episode 1)
    - Cartmanland (season 5 episode 6)
    - Here Comes the Neighborhood (season 5 episode 12)
    - Kenny Dies (season 5 episode 13)
    - Asspen (season 6 episode 2)
    - Red Hot Catholic Love (season 6 episode 8)
    - A Ladder to Heaven (season 6 episode 12)
But I honestly recommend you watch the episodes in order, at least starting from season 5.

Cesar reviews this episode and he actually explains that when dogs change their behavior or let’s say they eat bad food. Sometimes they have an emotional reaction or sometimes they throw up from the bad food; when you see Cartman throw up black sludge it’s a metaphor for that it’s almost like he’s throwing up, his evil spirit another way of saying it is it’s almost like an exorcism where he’s releasing his demon or throwing up his inner demon
The next thing is that the whole glitching things are reference to a movie in the 1980s

The episode where Cartman goes full fuhrer is “The Passion of the Jew” were the boys see the Passion of the Christ macho vie and have different reactions to it Cartman obviously adores.
Yes Cartman was having an internal battles between his conscience and his ego they just choose to visualize it like if he’s fighting possession she has spoiled him beyond repair making a demon brat of a child got thing is she gets actual development in the most recent season and doesn’t cave in to him anymore and spoils him a lot less.

Also, many people say that this is one of the saddest episodes of South Park because you understand the cycle of dysfunction in the Cartman family that because Leanne is lonely, she wants to do whatever she wants sexually and she doesn’t want to be a parental leader. This enables Cartman to behave poorly. And then the other part of it is Cartman has a very impulsive personality, and that comes from his insecurities for being overweight, not having a father and his mother being the town slut, so obviously when he behaves and very prejudice weighs, that’s him venting all of his anger trying to find insecurities and others, instead of working on his insecurities, seeking comfort from unhealthy food and attention, and then also all of the self-destructed behavior comes from his anger issues. Obviously, in this episode all these things are resolved, but Cartman has to learn that his challenges in life he can’t be an asshole; somebody who’s worked in a psychiatric ward. That’s the big thing that happens to those kids is that they have behavioral issues from genetics, poor parenting, need to do bad behavior or reacting from abuse and trauma, but none of that allows you to be a bad person: you can actually look at butters as Cartman, but a Cartman that doesn’t do wrong despite dealing with abuse and trauma
And as somebody who has had mental health issues and dealt with discrimination, traumatic experiences and apathy, that’s also some thing that I’ve learned which is you could become like Eric Cartman and have no control or think that your behaviors justified or think about how your actions impact others Inside your your life and other things that have happened to you, or you can teach yourself self-control and make your life a lot better. Honestly, if Cartman did not change back to his self, he let happy life with good health, possibly somebody would want to marry and become his stepfather, knowing that he’s not a lot of chaos.
And then Leanne side that obviously she was in control Cartman and had self-discipline. She would attract somebody to come into her life and you look at how the episode where she becomes a realtor as a great example of how not discipline, Cartman, and keeping the momentum from Cesar led to that outcome of where she could’ve lived a happy life, instead Cartman that situation and he doesn’t have the intelligence to understand how his way creates bigger problems
