Hey Shad! I’m gonna order mine tomorrow and then find someone to install them. What is the deal with swapping tunings? From what someone told me, you need to make sure the total tuning tension difference is under 30lbs, is that correct? Otherwise they’d need to be restrung? Ultimately I’m just looking at swapping between open d/open e and c6 etc with the benders on. Super excited for them, been eyeing these for a minute now.
I'm not sure what is acceptable as far as differences in lbs of tension. I know I typically use the same set of strings for open D and open E since it is the same tuning just lowered or raised by one step. C6 is very different from either and requires a C6 specific set of strings.
This is awesome! I just did a similar install on an SX for my brother, and it's amazing what a 2 string pitch bend system can add. BUT- if you play finger style a lot, picks or no picks, I HIGHLY recommend saving for a full on pedal steel guitar. With much patience used useable "PSG'S" CAN be found for $1,000, even less if an estate sale or something. Finger picking is 90% of pedal steel, the rest is so easy! Imagine string raises AND lowers on almost every string (10 strings), and your hands are free to shred! It's a whole different world. This Peter's bender looks great, and is half the cost of all the other companies I've seen. Combine it with bar bends and your 6 string lap will amaze your friends. I know, I own 2 top of the line pedal steels, but to show up for a little jam with your friends, maybe gigging at a local coffee shop, that's where I'll bring my 8 string lap- with benders! Sky's the limit, have fun!
Yeah, benders certainly have their limitations, I don't think I would agree that you can't finger pick and use them at the same time though. They do pose a challenge over totally unencumbered playing, and pedal steel will always be the best choice for easy of changes, but I only finger pick in my playing, and have no problems using the benders at the same time, and I'm by no means a great player.
Hey, does the bender get in the way of the leg stands?? A lot of people have that problem with the certain benders on the SX and that’s why they take em off
Hi Ryan! I unfortunately do not have this steel in my possession anymore to check on this, but I don't recall any interference with the leg mounts. I think if there had been thats something I would have taken note of.
Actually just ordered your benders to instal on my SX lap steel 🙌🏻

Can i use it for acoustc guitar?
You would need to do substantial modification to the acoustic guitar to make it work, but it could be done.

I have a left-handed SX. Any issue with installing your bender on a lefty? Are the B and G mechanisms identical? Thanks.
@@jmtab no problem at all, the bender is totally ambidextrous
We didn't get to hear it!
