- NOTE ON OTG: There are some exceptions I did not cover such as Jen 2H and Drakkon 6S~M which cause a limited spinning knockdown (same limit of 2) and other oddities such as Jen 4S not eating up your OTG limit allowing another character to use it.

stuff like this is what developers should put into their game when they are trying to get new player who never played marvel vs capcom type of game so people can have a better understanding on how to play and learn the concept of doing combos
I have not played a fighting game in a while this sounded like a foreign language lol. Awesome video I'll have to watch it like a couple times.
Fun Fact: Trey’s assist can induce a third capture state that you can combo out of if it’s the third capture state move in the combo (for example, if you’ve already used two Formation Swords). With the right timing, you can even tag him in and continue the combo with him

HSD & OTG are pretty rough to get used to and combo off of. Each character is different, their specials are fairly simple but learning to put them together is challenging. I can see myself spending hours here watching combo guides and trying stuff in practice tool before clearing the campaign
thanks for this! i'm really new to fighting games and a bit overwhelmed with this, how do you recommend getting used to making short combos? i don't know how to string together the combos you get from spamming a single attack type (e.g. if i keep pressing square it'll make a short 4-hit combo). how should i practice chaining different attack types
I picked up the game because I thought it was closer to that new wave one entry level fighters like rising thunder (RIP, but hooray for community edition and hopefully project L). My only real experience with fighting games besides smash is injustice 1, and I only really could mash out some simple gimmick combos with Batman consistently (Catwoman and Lobo were still in the lab). But I quickly learned that in order to play this game at all I'd need to read up on basically any and all fighting game tech, lab day and night, and get destroyed online for a year. So this video might help me actually find the time to git gud, since what time I don't spend working and whatnot can now be spent on more than scratching my head going "so when do I get to push a button?"
Just remember to enjoy the learning process. This game has some pretty tight links and juggles but the execution is still on the easier side, it also just allows you to freestyle a lot until you are at the point you need to really optimise everything so don't worry too much.
Working on your defense is super important at your level. Get comfortable with just sitting there being able to block high/low and left/right mixups, and always remember to tech any throws if they get a bit too close to you. Once your defense is good you can start trying to find holes in their offense. Once they do a move that has a lot of end lag and you find a good punish opportunity, that's when you start hitting your buttons. Playing patient will always pay off when learning a fighting game

@@aquilonianace4791 When a character does a move, there's a brief amount of time where they have to wind back after their strike. They're vulnerable during that ending part of an attack.

I'm new to game and most combo I got was 30 but I played someone yesterday he got a 75 hit combo on and I'm just now wondering how can I do dat
Just got this game and I like the breakdown but am still quite confused. What kind of attacks can you link together? I keep getting punished playing others as they keep pulling off stringed combos which I don't know how they do it.
Usually: light > medium > heavy > special/ex special > super

Everytime I try, I always get attacked with a combined combos and they never let me get up, they do it until I’m eliminated
How do u stop someone from using infinite combos? I just got wrecked online and I was getting juggled. Help me...
I think the point is to get your infinite first...
Work on your neutral, blocking(utilize push-blocking), & memorize enemy attack strings so you know when it's your turn & when they can do a mix up
Anyone know how to break combos? I lost 2 characters in what I can only describe as one long combo by the cat ranger. Never had a chance to do anything with the second character as he was hit before landing on the switch then life was just zero. How do you stop that??
I’m pretty sure this game has no combo breakers. You just have to defend properly so you don’t get hit, then when you land a hit it’s your turn to do a large combo
So there’s no combo break mechanic like Blazblu or MvC? You just gotta hope you guard right out the gate or your opp drops the combo?
I would like to learn how to play this game but man it’s so discouraging when the computer just completely locks you up even on easy in arcade. Combos are more fun to watch the computer do than to actually try myself. Hopefully this video helps because I’m about to just be done with this game
Thank you, I seem to understand a little better how to string combos. I think one of the problems I had was the standing light attack that was not allowing me to combo. I’m starting with close to 10+ combos to get the hang of the combo system. Maybe one day I’ll be able to do those crazy combos the cpu does on me

Bro I came for a tutorial and no buttons were referenced. Fighting games r so impossible to get into man. Every time I try I'm just met by some git gud mfr who's advice is simultaneously "learn your characters" and "u gotta try different characters and see what works for you"

(And that's no shade to the creator or video! I'm sure this is an eye-opener to someone who speaks fighting game already. I'm just clearly out of my depth just trying to best the story and get used to the game after the tutorial left me still confused.)
