- Summary:
Windy weather and big swells chased us to Pokai Bay on this weekend of fishing. Decided to try some new things to add some diversity to the channel. In this vid we dusted off the deep drop gear and tried to target some deep 7 species. By the end of the day we had a diverse catch, quite different than the normal bag of pelagics. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy!
I don’t really aim to make money on the merchandise, it’s more to just have something for anyone who would like a shirt, mug, etc. Check it out on TeePublic at tee.pub/lic/pnZ...

@@wheres_d_ahi mahalo bradda Aloha 🤙🏼
The aweoweo are awesome....nice blinking flasher. Mempachis are so yummy!! Opelu action!! Yessah ...seemed like a nice day to fish....love the screemah action. Dinner for weeks!!! Nice video!!
Thanks braddah! I dunno about you but I find eating aweoweo much easier than eating menpachi haha. Gindai is fricken awesome eats. Deep drop not really my thing but I can see why people do it.
HAMMAH 🔨
How heavy is that deep rig lead that you use?
2lbs.
Awesome action braddah!! Mahalo for sharing
Naw bro, thanks for watching and commenting! Lemme know what else kine action you like to see and I can try fish like that!
Not gonna lie, I could watch you drop live bait for days! Nothing more exciting than dropping a live opelu and seeing the reel scream 🙌🏽🤙🏽
Nice catch and great channel. I want to catch fish like you
I appreciate that! Hope to keep putting out content you enjoy! 😉
whats some tips on pachis, rigging of damashi, flashers, glow grubs depth they sit at? Mahalo 🤙🏾
@@dustinroben4018 5-6 hooks, flashers help but not necessary. Glow also helps but not necessary. Main thing is fishing in the dark. They don’t really sit at any specific depth but rather they usually in big schools by coral beads or ledges. I rather find the shallower ones than the deeper ones, less work to reel up 😂🤷🏻♂️

My friend and I are out that side almost every weekend.. usually a little close to yokes. We use a small whaler but similar fishing style. Every time I see a kayak out I wonder if it’s you 😂
Gimme a tow next time! Hahaha. Yoks too far for me on kayak lol. I gotta cave in and buy boat pretty soon too 😂😂
@@wheres_d_ahi haha shoots.. just hit us up on the vhf! We go out V buoy on a nice day 😂
@@kauaicr1431 for sure! I’d go anywhere with a tow lol. What channel you guys on usually?
Howzit Devin nice ONO yesterday mahalo for the left over bait sorry about the drone
Hope to see that next post
Your new subscriber
Glenn 🤙🏽
Ahh host Glenn!!! Nice meeting you braddah! Hope you at least had dinner if the bait never catch anything haha 😂
@@wheres_d_ahi deep fried till crispy 🤣
Ive tried my luck hand crancking from the deep, 2 or 3 times and im done haha. Solid catches
That’s 2-3 times more than I’m willing to do. I have short attention span even with electric reel 😂😂😂
Hafa Adai! Awesome video and catch! None stopped action and enjoyed watching. Question, when you bottom fish with live bait, how far down do you let it sit, middle or all the way on the bottom? Don't you get snag when you drift? Mahalo! Watching from Guam.
Wassup bro! Glad you enjoy and hope you subscribe to catch all the action haha. So it really depends on what you targeting when bottom fishing. If you leave in all the way down, you more apt to catch sharks and ulua. If you keep it more like 1/4-1/3 of the water column, you can catch more uku (grey snapper/jobfish). So if I’m sitting in like 200ft of water, I usually have the lead down at around 150-175ft or so and one like freelined.
That’s a gold flag snapper. Looks like a paka but with yellow along the tail and fins
Oh! I thought it was a Kalekale.
Too dark, need a light bro!
@@SharmaineRealgo ahhhh! I used to use a blue light but broke off. Any recommendations on your choice on light color?
Yeee that’s exciting!! Nice catch! Btw, what kayak is that?
This is on a Hobie Pro Angler 14. Very stable. But I’ve been riding outback a lot more as of late.
@@wheres_d_ahi nice thanks for the quick response
@@MPCTazwhich boat do you prefer and why? Tanks ah 🤙🏼
@@miketexas4549 hey, so I would prefer this model just cause I’m not a small guy and I feel like this would be good for plus size people! Wider the better!!! bahaha
@@MPCTaz thanks man! I'm 195# myself so definitely want something stable. Cheers
Those gindai are my favorite. I caught a few of those before. I looked them up but can't find the name again. I will let you know when I find it.
Yeah I gotta say, gindai are pretty damn delicious. I’m not that into the lack of deep dropping productivity, but gindai and ehu (and others) definitely make it worthwhile.
Kale kale
Thanks bro. That’s what I thought. Not used to seeing that yellow tail on them, but then again I hardly bottom fish 😂
How does the gindai taste?
Kindai is delicious!!! Most of the deep 7 are haha.
You got an extra yak ?
Not sure what you mean by extra. I do have 2 yaks tho.
@@wheres_d_ahi how much to let my go out with you bro?🤙🏾
@@erickgodina6547 where you live? My only fear is the liability if someone never kayak fish before 😬
@@wheres_d_ahi i live on Oahu. They guy I usually go with is off island for a while. I got all my own gear, we usually fish ka’ena point
Its a kale kale
Yeah I was pretty certain, but I never seen that yellow spot on any of their tails before. I thought that was weird but I never caught that many so I dunno.
