I wish so bad that a Captain Scarlet show was in the works. In today's climate of 'fake news' and 'alternative facts', the war against the Mysterons would be an entirely different creature. Because the Mysterons are non-corporeal and effectively invincible, they see fear the way we see death. So the aim of their war is a campaign of terrorism. Frankly, one SPECTRUM 'media liaison' could hold the Mysterons at bay just by getting reporters to bury stories and use bot accounts on social media to turn SPECTRUM and the Mysteron attacks into another bonkers conspiracy theory like Q-Anon or Flat Earth. That kind of "digital information warfare" wasn't really even on people's minds even in 2005. Reimagining Cpt. Blue as an 'Edward Snowden type' rather than just a sidekick and cheerleader for Scarlet would add an interesting texture to what was orignally a Cold War drama: "As you can _clearly_ see, the Ambassador from Thailand is having an _extreme_ reaction to his prescription alergy medication. I'll just pick up the rest of his speech on the teleprompter while the medics see to him and the Thai delegation finds someone to answer questions afterward... ...which is why we stand in unity with our neighbouring countries in our committment to meeting climate change targets in the coming decade. Furthermore..."
*Spectrum Is Green,* Gerry! Keep bringing these joys from our childhood in the 60's back. They are even more better today, than before, and I had not thought that possible.
Absolutely criminal that this series didn't get the recognition it deserved when it premiered. If it had been given a proper chance at the time, I honestly think it would be viewed as a TV science fiction classic.
Agreed! The original Captain Scarlet was great, but the storytelling in this version kicks it up more than a notch. The character development adds appreciably to the dimension of the series, making it even more engaging and compelling.
ITV treated it appallingly, splitting each epsiode into two parts on a dreadful Saturday morning show, so that many people weren't even aware of its existence. If they had given it the timeslot it deserved, early Saturday evening, it would have reinvigorated family Saturday evening before the revived Doctor Who did the same year.
This is a great story in many ways. It was great to see the mysterons lose control of captain black and for Conrad to come through. To see the two friends reunited for a short time and it is shocking when the mysterons regain control. The new captain scarlet is highly underrated and deserves a second chance.
@@anindyamajumdar4088 I personally love it, the original was too one dimensional, like something out of a 50s Sci-fi whereas the CGI one has the charisma of a well written Bond villain which makes him more terrifying
I also like to think of thunderbirds are go and this being in the same universe. By the time of captain scarlet the GDF has been scrapped for being not fit for purpose (ie completely useless)
I just discovered New Captain Scarlet recently and: 1. I already finished the whole series, 2. I keep re-watching it, 3. I really like all the storylines, characters, etc.…😍, 4. I wish there were more episodes. Plus here; it was absolutely hilarious in this episode how offended Captain Black looked when the Rhino confirmed him as an enemy agent-LOL! 😂👏 Edit: PS; My favorite episode is "Chiller" btw! 😍

The possibility of Captain Black being freed from the Mysterons could have been the driving force behind subsequent series. This could have been utterly brilliant but for some bad airing decisions.
Fantastic episode with some great effects and writing. Would love to see these episodes remastered using today's super realistic animation...don't get me wrong, the animation in this series stands up to a lot of today's content and this is like 15-20 years old now.

This had an interesting point. One of the issues with them being trapped was 'inside a rhino, nothing in, nothing out'. Including apparently Mysteron influence. A plot point not explored.... capture a Mysteron agent, put them in such an environment and unturn them. What a great show this was. :-)

I watched all the original series as a kid, along with all the other TV puppet shows, everything from Torchy The Battery Boy, and Four Feather Falls, upto Fireball XL5, Supercar, Stingray, Thunderbirds and Joe 90 etc. This was amazing, even as an adult I found it was holding my attention. There's some serious character development in this episode. It's a sad moment when Conrad asks how Destiny is coping. His feelings for her are clearly the strongest part of what remains of his humanity.

Both series have pros and cons, a major pro for this series was how much more fleshed out Scarlet and the others are as people, you feel so much more emotionally invested in Paul and Conrad. The Supermation series often made them feel very bland and one note.
I love the new series. Loved the original, just not to big on the intro for the new captain scarlet. I always loved the intro for the original series. But it was sweet to see Paul and Conrad able to work together as friends again. Just to get out of the Rhino. Is the Rhino the replacement of the SPV? I do love how you changed some characters from men to women in Spectrum. Lieutenant Green for one. I did like the original lieutenant too. Colonel White was always one of my favorite characters, in both series. And being a big fan of WW2 aircraft, seeing the episode where they roll out an old Lancaster bomber is my favorite. But I am still watching as many episodes as I can get on TH-cam. Thanks for the reboot, and the original series, Mr. Anderson.
As a pupett Captain Scarlet was a first crush ,actually like the CGI upgrade - different times back then,more insculsivity would be night if they relaunched, many of the characters were of as much unresolved conflict to young ,coming to terms with their path. At least there was - in a very machismo show,little hate💥👊❤💯👋🌟💯✌
Additionally to the other plaudits, good voices and characterisations, music( Inc. the drum link) and tech-design. Looks SIG to this CS 60 yr- old fan. However, Conrad Black looks nothing like the real fraudster himself!
I just got really annoyed being violated by un-skippable adverts every minute or so. It's neither fair nor amusing and quite frankly insulting at the deepest level.

The episodes should have been longer. They feel incomplete at the half hour format. And I believe the original were hour format.

It was good to see Black back to being himself for as brief a time it was. Such a great episode.

I would have used that for a finale where Black is instrumental in creating a lasting peace between Earth and the Mysterons.

This is so good, I bought the DVD sets. I'm gutted that they never got to bring the story to some sort of conclusion.
So far, after 3 episodes, this is my favorite. Especially liked the hand to hand and face to face of Black and Scarlett.

The albatross looks rather similar to the GDF craft in Thunderbirds Are Go.
Though it was designed 10 years earlier. I suspect they were both based on a real life Osprey :)

Obviously the Mysterons could not control Black whilst he was under the water because once he surfaced they had him again.
Possibly that coupled with the Rhino's shielding?
