Just watched this on Amazon. Followed the case for years. I can honestly say I've never been so moved watching a film. So powerful yet utterly heartbreaking. Thank you for making this movie - it needed to be told.
For a nation that released most of the Bali bombers years ago. This was a callous act of racism & _monumental_ hypocrisy. Meanwhile, if Chan became an _Imam_ instead of a Christian pastor. His live would have probably been spared.
That's not true. It is not about religion. It is about law. And both Mr. Myuran and Mr. Chan are sentenced to death by smuggled drugs in our country. If they smug to other countries, I believe they will get the same punishment.

Watched the film and it's pretty tough to watch. You can tell he was a changed man in prison. The only reason they were not granted clemency is so the Indonesian president could seem tough on drugs. Yet I was in Bali 1 year prior to the 2005 bombing. Yet most of the perpetrators who actual killed people from 2002 and 2005 are free men. Yet two genuinely rehabilitated men and a Brazilian who suffered mental health issues and didn't even know he was going to die. Where executed. Like a few say the Australian government tipped off the Indonesians then cried out when they realised they where going to be shot. Grim inhumane way to die having your hands tied behind your back to a cross and having laser sights aimed at your heart. Drugs may be bad but when you give less for murder is wrong. You should be after the people growing the drugs not the ones selling it or using it. Stop the source then people wouldn't have the means to buy it and smuggle it out. Plus wouldn't that have been a favour ridding the country of 18kg of heroin.

What about victims who cannot go on as usual with their families, friend, neighbours and communities? What will happen to the rest if victims have passed away? So to say drug traffickers have been released, they can spend time with their loved ones. You can't say the same to victims who have passed away, families, friends, neighbours and communities will have to mourn and live on without their loved ones. Families of deceased victims will not be able to reunite. What about criminals?

To be fair, it wasn't a 'mistake'. A mistake makes it a momentary error; a lapse of judgment. But it wasn't. These people did what they did intentionally, planned it over time and recruited others to help them, fully knowing the consequences. I don't like to see people put to death but at the same time, I cannot defend them. Drugs take countless lives; so in an abstract way, they have killed many others through their drug dealing. They are murderers. I feel more sorry for the much younger stupid people they recruited as drug mules. They are in jail for life. But again, I feel even more sorry for the countless people/families ruined through drugs. These Far East countries are too harsh in their sentences but we 'First World' countries are far far too lenient, which only increases the problem. There has to be a war against drugs. My personal view is that the sentence should be 15 years in jail. Long enough that the person will probably/hopefully never do it again and short enough to give a second chance at life. To add, the problem with this film is it is all Hollywood - over-emotional, with the right music, and with a Liberal bias. It forces you to identify positively with these two men and their plight (and their families; who are of course also victims). It does not of course mention the mass destruction that they and others like them cause.
He was reformed, remorseful and repentant. While incarcerated, he matured into a thoughtful and kind, considerate man. He absolutely did not deserve that horrendous death.

It's sad that Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran been executed. No I'm serious, I'm really not kidding. However what about 4.4 million drug victims on rehab and 1 million of those who CANNOT be cured? Shall we not be sad about them?! Many even died from drugs. Put it this way, a drug user doesn't only inflict pain and such to oneself. It goes to the entire family, your neighbours (whether they like you or not).... heck it doesn't stop there. Communities of the user is affected too. Are you ok if your loved one has taken such drug(s)? Point is we should not encourage to do drugs, not to take drugs. Drug traffickers should stop now, long before getting caught and do the right thing. It's not up to any government in any country to fight drug problem. It's US! We should stop drug trafficking or many lives will be lost, (ex)traffickers' lives as well... Once you've done that kind of crime, it may not be reversed for many victims. It can even be permanent. A drug trafficker that has already been rehabilitated and released may (or most likely) be able to chat and reunite with families. What about drug user who died from drugs? Will the user be able to reunite? Even though I have considerations for Andrew and Myuran, I cry a lot for millions of drug victims.

It's not up to any government in any country to fight drug problem. It's US! We should stop drug trafficking or many lives will be lost, (ex)traffickers' lives as well... Once you've done that kind of crime, it may not be reversed for many victims. It can even be permanent. A drug trafficker that has already been rehabilitated and released may (or most likely) be able to chat and reunite with families. What about drug user who died from drugs? Will the user be able to reunite?
Even though I have considerations for Andrew and Myuran, I cry a lot for millions of drug victims.
