His hypothesis, in my own words. There is something metaphysical, beyond our understanding (Jordan calls the spirit of the father), that calls us to be the best version of ourselves. Part of it ( for men) is the spirit of femininity, natural selection, whatever. But, he's also suggesting that maybe it isn't merely the "drive to stay alive" or "sex", or the "judement of women" that keeps us moving forward and progressing as species. What is the overwhelming sensation that we get to be remembered and make a difference and have a significant impact on our society at large, to do good for other people? Where does it come from? He's suggesting, maybe that spirit has manifested itself across time through evolution, but also potentially with some influence from a metaphysical whatever you want to call it, humans call it god.

Harris said all Books are written by Humans. Peterson said that the "holy Books" are written by a collective subconscious "God" and make necessary Truths accessible to a wide audience, by using the Format of Story.
I am not a Peterson Fan but his argument is understandable.
He loses me on the necessity of these Stories to build a moral society.

For those of us who are spiritual, who pray and meditate, the Torah, the Bible, the Quran, or any other religious doctrine are simply political manmade social constructs that commonly contain recognizable good and bad human archetypes; but to say these doctrine are the authoritative words of God is absolutely self-righteous and delusional for the powerless but more importantly, sinister in respect to the powerful because absolute power always becomes absolutely corrupt.
Spirituality reveals that the "God" source is ALL and that every word ever spoken and written has that spark of divine source, and that source can not be bound and contained by words and manmade doctrine.
As a spiritual person, I know that secular humanitarianism is the closest we'll ever get to being truly "godlike" good people.

Over the years I have had some experiences with people who have ended up in the psychiatric hospital with what has been diagnosed as "drug induced psychosis", the way JP talks reminds me of them. Now, I`m not saying JP fits that diagnose, it`s just the way he talks lately that gives me this "bad" feeling that makes me think about those patients. I noticed the same thing when he talked with Richard Dawkins and Alex O`Connor not so long ago. It seemed almost as if JP talked like a hippie on acid in that little debate. There is something going on with that guy. I could be wrong of course , I`m no expert. But it strongly reminds me of drugged out mental cases I have seen examples of many times before, it usually gets worse and takes a long time to get out of. I hope he sorts it out so maybe it would be possible to understand what the frigde he`s talking about

I've been thinking the same thing. To me his speech often reminds me of a paranoid and manic person. Take all the misgivings, suspiciousness, the trying to persuade and the phenomenological intensity they seem to be experiencing and just put in symbols instead of perceived foes and frights and there you have the lunatic manically trying to make us see what he sees without being able to explain it in reasonably well-suited language. The search for hidden symbolism and hidden messages sometimes is very close to hidden agendas as far as reasoning goes.

Yes! I've always suspected him of not only being abusing benzos but also stimulants. (benzos are very often abused by stimulant users too) Especially during the time of the Dillahunty debate. His ramblings were becoming more and more abstract and incoherent until he made himself cry. It screamed stimulant abuse. I remember at the time thinking he's about to crash and burn.... and a few weeks later he did. I suspect this was also the reason he went to Russia to detox. Not for his ridiculous official reason (no expert in the US could detox him from benzos) but to find a place to detox from stimulants without it being leaked. More likely because it would be an embarassment (maybe even a career killer) for an intellectual to be caught debating high on stimulants as well as for an author who's writing on motivation and self responsibility. This would be considered as moralising while cheating.

We’re never going to completely disprove Jesus as the son of god. Once you understand Christianity is intentionally left with blanks that can’t be filled you realize it’s actually as complete as it can be without answering the question of god for sure. The whole is to form your heart to god without being forced. For many people just knowing he’s real 100% will force them to accept god out of fear. It has to be a choice or it’s meaningless, this whole life is simply about choices.

JP doesn't need to assume anything about the well documented evolution of what books are included in the Bible, we have records that explain it. A theologian should be educated on that history because it carries important context. This is why it is so easy to mistake what the scripture means because most people don't know the historical context.

Jordan Peterson is a very disturbed man. He is living day to day with agitation. The man does not know inner peace. It's so unfortunate. And at the end of the day, the kindest response to him is to be considerate that he may find his way by giving up his idiotic ideas. Probably won't happen. But there is a way out for him to actually lead a happy life.

Unfortunately, we are getting closer and closer to achieve this goal.

Jordan Peterson doesn’t understand “how the Bible was constructed”. I guess he hasn’t done much exploration then. The world has always had people who “talk to god” or otherwise connect to the “other world”, today they are often referred to as “channelers”. Long story short, whatever it is they are doing (and to the extent they are honest and not charlatans, they are clearly just communicating with aspects of themselves)...it’s not talking to god and their messages rarely if ever come to pass in the physical world.
