Cool idea , I am always changing blades on my big bandsaw for the odd curved which is such a waste of time , so I often use my jigsaw which is also a pain>!
Same here, switching blades from wide to narrow is quite the task, I only bothered for large batches of work and then usually left the narrow blade on there for days.
Timothy Wilmots funny how quick I went off using a jigsaw after buying Nice bandsaw so quick to use .. I can see me getting a little bandsaw at some point ..
I also like that you went to the extend of repainting the door panels... Record Power aren't that bad; just expensive. ;-) I do agree that every workshop should have two bandsaws. This is what I'm aiming for when I find my next workshop.
hey. Nice work. I might consider a stand like this for my shop. Just out of curiosity- I noticed you use a lot of beech for your shop furniture. Is there a particular reason why you chose beech or is that just what you have available?
It's partly because it's what I always have in stock, but also because it happens to be the traditional species for workbenches and anything that needs to resist wear.
What did make me laugh was you painted the green panels :). I painted my old Charnwood planner panels Felder grey last year to match my other machines , I even took a part from the FB510 to have it matched lol.. keep up the good work
Wouldn't the weight of the saw be an issue, the stand didn't seem structurally beefy enough, how would you calculate that?
As you can see it can hold my weight, the plywood is 18mm birch and I placed it at a slight upward angle. I'm pretty sure it can hold many times more weight than this.
Are the taper cuts you are making at the beginning of the video experience, a steady hand, having the fence at the front of the workpiece or some trick up your sleeve??? As always, EXCELLENT work and work flow and interesting to watch.
I was really just eyeballing it on the pencil mark, wasn't looking for absolute precision. I could have angled the cross cut fence, but it wasn't worth the trouble.
I guess what I was trying to say without sounding critical...is not "free-handing" a taper cut like you made a somewhat dangerous operation? Or, is it made safe because you are essentially moving the sliding table, and not the workpiece, past the blade?
Great work as usual, but where is the dust extraction Timothy? yours is the cleanest "working"shop on TH-cam, I look forward to your next offering as always
Another nice little project :) Good going. How much is a 15 mm plywoodsheet at your place? In my city it is horribly expensive at 100-130£ :( craysy stuff. : TR
Nice video as usual Timothy. Do you have three phase power in your shop or are you running a phase converter and if so what model/spec? Also what are you using for dust extraction? Thanks
I have 3 phase 380V, my main dust extractor is a Felder RL160. This band saw is too far from the dust collection system to be connected so I'll make up something else.
It's hard to say because the stock blade was rubbish, and the custom made Swedish chrome steel blades I had made were even worse. Without a good blade I can't tell yet.
I'd say the build quality is decent when compared to the price, they obviously have to cut corners to meet a price point. But then I don't think anything significantly better exists in the size range? It is really going to depend on how it works with good blades, I have heard good things about these whith good blades.
I was thinking about getting the Felder panel Saw that you have. I was looking at getting the electric blade movement and fence movement. I noticed that you don't have that. Is there a reason why you don't
If you have the budget then it's a must have, I kinda regret not having the automatic parallel fence, it didn't seem necessary at the time and I was stretching my budget already. The electric blade movement is less useful on a saw IMO, really helpful on the shaper and planer, but on the saw I don't often need to cut at exact depths. (last week I installed a digital gauge on the wheel that raises the saw, it's just as accurate but not designed to be reset to 0 like electronic read outs can)
Hey timothy. Happy new year! :) First: a great video like your previous ones. I need a bandsaw too. You decided to buy a bs300e, my question to you: was the record power bs350 too expensive? Is your saw sufficient? Is not the quick adjustment for the belt tension a reason for buying the bs350? Would you buy the saw again? Finally I wish you always enough orders for your work. Andi
Hi Andi, I already have a large band saw (Hammer N4400) so I wanted a second smaller one for curved work. That usually doesn't require as much power. I didn't want it to be too big, I was hesitating between this and the 250mm. At this point I haven't used it enough to give an opinion but if it were my only band saw, then it would certainly be way too small for the kind of work I have to do.
It's difficult to say, I like the small footprint for small occasional tasks. But it's maintenance heavy. Maybe at some point it will be time for the next level in terms of accuracy and capacity.
I bought it from Baptist in Arnhem, I give some more details on the website article but I have only had it for a few weeks and haven't received good blades for it yet (the stock blade is not the best) so I can't really give an informed opinion yet.
I've had it about 10 years now. It works fine for occasional use, never used it on an industrial scale. I think the guides could be improved. there are some excellent after market ones available. I use Tuffsaws. Superb blades and advice if required. www.tuffsaws.co.uk/
Thanks, I have always used tuffsaws up to now with success, but this time tried another supplier and the blades are all poorly set, good for the bin. That 'l teach me...
Nice work Timothy. Always a pleasure to watch you at work.
It’s always a pleasure watching Timothy work, as well as getting some great inspiration for my own workshop.
Couldn't agree more...
And may I add that it's a genuine pleasure to find a website that doesn't annoy with what's usually horrible music.
Excellent project. You have my dream wood shop.
Your table saw looks like such a joy to use
Very neat well proportioned and functional work station great photo finish accessories always
That's awesome. I'm digging the slide out shelf and drawers. Very nice!
Tim, I love your videos so much I wish you wouldn't speed them up. I like to savor every second, every step. Thanks for making them.
I'll keep that in mind, however I try to keep them not too long or too boring for most.
Always a pleasure watching you work. Thanks for sharing. The dog looks bored though!
She always wants to be elsewhere, and when we go elsewhere she wants to go back home.
Cool idea , I am always changing blades on my big bandsaw for the odd curved which is such a waste of time , so I often use my jigsaw which is also a pain>!

Cleanest workshop on TH-cam! Nice idea having 2 to avoid switching blades
Nice job on your stand. Adding a second band saw in my shop is one of the best things I never knew I needed.
Nice! Have I mentioned that I think you've got one beautiful shop? Thanks for sharing your projects with us.
Absolutely brilliant as always thank you for taking the time to make videos.
this is great! always jealous of the panel saw when I see it in action.
I really like that idea of mounting it on the beams! Good stuff
Cool stand idea..might have to build one similar to this for my mortise machine.
That is really cool! And your shop in inspiring!
You really have a nice workshop.
I also like that you went to the extend of repainting the door panels... Record Power aren't that bad; just expensive. ;-)
I do agree that every workshop should have two bandsaws. This is what I'm aiming for when I find my next workshop.
I bet its super stable mounted to that beam
My Dream shop is absolutely amazing!!!
Brilliant work as always. Inspiring 👍🏻

Really good solution! I like it!
I got the same bandsaw and have to build a cabinet for it 😂

It's "safe" in the way that it's immobile on the sliding table, doing this on a non-slider would indeed be way too dangerous.
Great work as usual, but where is the dust extraction Timothy? yours is the cleanest "working"shop on TH-cam, I look forward to your next offering as always

TR
Hi TR, I mostly use 9 and 18mm, the 18mm costs between €30 and 70 depending on the type and quality.
Thanks. Going down to Germany and pick up a used Lorrey this spring. Think I will stack up on some plywoodsheets at the same time :)
TR
Great job! Well done!
I really love all of your videos. It's great seeing your doggie too. Better get the doggie some ear protection. Hahaha
Everything you do - even putting that bloody sticker on - is done with precision and care
+1 for the anthracite panel 😊
Mancher Schreiner macht sich bei Kundenarbeiten weniger Arbeit. good Job.
We miss your new videos.
Hi Timothy I have hurt that beechs wood tends to mothball soon.Give me youre opinion please. Thanks
Hi Jose, could you explain mothball? I think there's a translation error somewhere.
Timothy ik wou zeggen termieten.
Very tidy. Just wondering, how does the quality of the Record bandsaw compare with your bigger Felder bandsaw?
It's hard to say because the stock blade was rubbish, and the custom made Swedish chrome steel blades I had made were even worse. Without a good blade I can't tell yet.
OK, but you're happy with the build quality for what is essentially budget bandsaw?

CNC Router running in the background at the end of the video?! new tool?!
Indeed but it's an X-carve which I have had for a few years now. It makes appearances in some of my videos when it's used.
Timothy Wilmots ah fair enough, considering an upgrade?
It's difficult to say, I like the small footprint for small occasional tasks. But it's maintenance heavy. Maybe at some point it will be time for the next level in terms of accuracy and capacity.
How do you like the new bandsaw? Is it worth it? And where did you buy it?
Thanks!!
I bought it from Baptist in Arnhem, I give some more details on the website article but I have only had it for a few weeks and haven't received good blades for it yet (the stock blade is not the best) so I can't really give an informed opinion yet.

Is that an after market fence Tim? I have the BS300 and the fence is nothing like that.
Nope, it's the fence it came with. How's your 300 doing and what blades do you use?
I've had it about 10 years now. It works fine for occasional use, never used it on an industrial scale. I think the guides could be improved. there are some excellent after market ones available. I use Tuffsaws. Superb blades and advice if required. www.tuffsaws.co.uk/

I don't know anyone who doesn't speak highly of Tuffsaws. It's just not worth shopping around.
OMG you even have a Festool level??
It was a gift, it's just a rebadged stabila.
Cool gedaan nonken 💎😘😘😘😘😘
Do you still have the Hammer-Bandsaw ?
I do but I'm going to replace it with a Felder 620.
You will have a complete set of Felder machines, a fantastic collection.
O man I wanna work for you👍
What kind of table saw is that?
A Felder K700s panel saw.
Timothy Wilmots thanks that is a nice saw.
Thanks for taking the time to share
Thanks for watching.
Brilliant
What did you put in the flat drawer?
Nothing, it's just a shelf to rest workpieces on.
kmonnier he showed it at the end.
Bobby Stanley okie dokie I see it now.
WAIT!!!!! THAT YELLOW WARNING STICKER WAS NOT STRAIGHT!!!! HA!
I'm pretty sure who ever made that bandsaw also made my Rikon bandsaw.
I wouldn't be surprised, many brands appear to rebadge variations of this.
Very Slick ‼️
Good pup
what's the color of your band saw ?
- grey
really? grey ?
- yeah, felder grey
Does that dog have earplugs?
Nope, but she can open the door and leave when I'm making too much noise.
poor dog with all that noise...
:-) !!!
