I own both and enjoy both very much. I was super tempted to buy a backup of Iris, but held off. And I'm fine with that. I kept thinking of Prada Candy with Iris, lol. I have decants of a bunch of the Shalimar flankers. 🙂
I have that Prada Candy, I didn't compare them though. Prada is more about chocolate powder to me, but I can see where you come from with that comparison 🤔
So, I got on the pre-launch waitlist for Iris and blind-ordered a bottle. I generally really love iris, so I wasn't too worried, and I'm in several facebook fragrance groups where people swap and declutter scents all the time (especially last year with Tonka selling out early and the hoarders deciding to sell their 4 backups at a profit), so I was fine with taking the risk. Yes, the Shalimar Millsime Iris is really easy to enjoy. I also have decants of Souffle Intense, Eau de Shalimar, Souffle de Parfum and Parfum Initial flankers. (Of course I got them through my fragrance groups, lol!)
Btw, my favorite iris fragrance is Chanel No. 19 EDT - in part because it was my first perfume, a gift from my mother when I was in high school. I think it's the scent that helped me develop a love for iris scents. (And ah! you're in NYC -- for some reason I thought you might be in London, Paris or Frankfurt. I lived there for over 15 years!)
Hi Kate! I just received the Shalimar Millesime - Iris and it’s absolutely beautiful! The only problem I’m having is with the longevity. Maybe there was a reformulation of some kind therefore affecting the lasting power?!? I have to continually reapply. 😢 I still love it for sure. I got it engraved to make it a special experience, as this was my first Guerlain fragrance ever. Thank you for the outstanding review! ❤
I noticed that this Iris Guerlain is more gentle and it doesn't stay as long! I think it's just a lighter formula. Although some vanilla fragrances tend to get stronger with time, maybe this one will? Thank you 🩷
It only sold for 2 months so no, no reformulation. It lasts well into the next day stronger on clothing like all other fragrances but you smell it a lot as you move.
@@Scent_Library thanks for sharing your opinion Kimberly! I also think this version is a bit lighter compared to others, but it might be just individual perception as well
I have not yet tried SM Iris, but I adore SM Tonka. I've only had a decant though because I cannot afford the inflated prices people are selling it for. I wish they didn't do the limited releases! Greedy people take advantage.
Masque Milano L'atessa is a great iris... a bit cold, a bit austere, but it is soft in terms of its "feel" and not dry. And, of course, Chanel no19 is 💥
What do you think about Shalimar? And which one is your favorite?
The Tonka flanker still my fav, but I wear Philtre de Parfum a lot more often. 😉 Appreciate your thoughts Kate!
I wish I had a bottle of Tonka!

Thank you for this video. I love Celine Black Tie that has the most sophisticated Iris vanilla combo notes 😍
I haven't tried it yet, would be great to smell it 🤩

Happy to hear you like it! Yeah, the prices are just so high for Tonka, I know. I am thinking where to get more lol 🙂

I have been thinking to try l'Attesa, so thanks for a reminder! I heard really good things about it
