Hi Kate, I have four of your selections and I agree they are all great for all. I have been wearing Bon Parfumeur 401, which is cedar, candied plum and vanilla and enjoying it a lot. It just started to cool down yesterday so I have only just started wearing some fall oriented perfume. I can't wait to wear my chypres, vintages and darker, deeper perfumes! oxJulia

How frustrating that must be! The one time I didn’t get what I expected from a new bottle I let it set for many months with no improvement. Then I sprayed like 12 times and that helped. I can’t explain why. I have that problem with decants sometimes too. Like the first sprays are a little off. The only other thing I can say is that with a new fragrance I’m not familiar with it sometimes takes my nose some time to adjust. Things my nose doesn’t understand always smells like soap to me at first. I doubt that’s your issue though. Also although I probably won’t buy any of the samples you mention I would actually like a review! I haven’t heard many people talk about them.

I quite often find that the batch can make a big huge difference with Dior fragrances (which are also LVMH like Guerlain) I have tried bottles from 2 years apart that smelt completely different to me, e.g. Gris Dior with more or less rose. Perhaps the tester was a different batch... But yeah, I always think the testers smell better 😂 I wonder whether it's psychological sometimes. 🤣

Yes would like a video on Barenia & Patchouli Paris (I have a samples of both of these too) would like to know what you think of them.

A very interesting experience. Quite possible that brands are a bit more lax on rushing fragrances to market these days, so maybe the whole maturation thing could be it. Assuming you sprayed from the same bottle of course. 🤭 I find myself so much more patient with new perfumes these days. Really appreciate your feedback Kate. ❤ Wouldn't mind a vid on those new Balmains!

Shalimar Millesime Jasmin is sooooo stunning, I've already got a huge dent in my bottle and ordered a backup. The soft sweetness I find is all enveloping - very jasmin, but not indolic, even better than vintage Shalimar and that's saying something! Nothing soapy about it. Love, love, love - I wish it could be permanent.

Would love to know your thoughts on Barenia, Patchoili Paris (I'm testing my sample right now) & Vanilla Plainfolia.

This one wasn't for me; it didn't seem to be related to Shalimar. I did love the last two but missed out on the first vanilla and regret that. Maybe a future rose one will be fabulous! I would love to hear your thoughts on Barenia.

Hi Kate!! I’ve definitely had experiences where the tester smelled different than the full bottle.. it may really just need some time to sit. I have a couple of perfumes in my collection where the florals got stronger and stronger over a year or two. And in those ones, it got to the point where the florals were just too strong to me. So maybe the jasmine will intensify with a little bit of time! Yes I am definitely interested in hearing your thoughts on both of the Guerlains! The other ones you mentioned I hadn’t heard of, although I’m always interested in learning about new scents 😊

Hi Miss Katie -- this is so interesting to me. I watched Persolaise's video where everyone said they thought the opening smelled cheap, but then Persolaise really liked how the fragrance develops. I'm really curious as I have 2 bottlers of Sh. Iris, 1 of Sh. Tonka and decants of a bunch of the Shalimar flankers like Parfum Initial, Souffle de Parfum, Eau de Shalimar and Shalimar Souffle Intense! Because of the mixed reactions to Sh. Jasmin, I just don't think I'll blind buy it. I'm going to msg you on IG. 🙂

Looking at the weather, today is the last warm day of fall before the weather turns significantly cooler… I’m curious to see what I start wearing when the really turns, but I have already been dipping into my fall fragrances. Ormande Woman is on of my signature scents and I wore Amouage Journey last week! Today I am wearing Nishane Nanshe, I’ve also been obsessed with Zoologist Cocktail and Deer Musk lately. I`ve been watching and enjoying your videos in the last week and the thing you said about the fresh cigarette pack made me a) hit subscribe and b) want to buy this perfume! Its such an obscure but distinctive smell, a bit like raisins or dates, but not really fruity, papery, a bit leathery, and I often think of it when trying to come up with tasting notes during coffee tastings for my job. It can be difficult to communicate the idea of a smell through a scentless medium like youtube, and its little references like this that let me know if I would agree with someone`s POV, so thank you!

I love this! Please do Lord of the rings and the Hobbit! I got into niche because I wondered what Aria the elf princess from Eragon would smell like. I chatted with someone at luckyscent who sent me a bunch of samples. After that I was hooked on fragrance.

Paloma Picasso was my mother’s go to when she was going out and the gift my father gave her every Christmas. I have amazing memories from that scent! Thanks for reviewing this. It made me smile.

Ormonde Jayne Woman is the only fragrance from the brand that I've enjoyed so far... I always wanted to try Er0tic Me from Paco Rabanne, but people said the same thing about that one, that it's very intriguing but they weren't sure they actually like it 😂 I probably should have just gone for it before they disappeared. The whole range sounded interesting!

I think people dont talk about those Muglers because they are discontinued in Europe but still sold in the US on the Mugler website. I have found a UK seller selling some of them though, just not many of the range.

So many from Serge/Sheldrake that are wonderful for the autumn. 😉 Wearing Nicolai's Caravanserail Intense today with that "crunchy" chocolate and cardamom coffee. Love the touch of raspberry that Patricia added and it's one I wear quite often in the fall too. Also lasts a while with that Ambrocenide in the base. A great vid Kate!

Hi Kate! I enjoyed the video, there are many interesting suggestions that are not talked about much and you made me curious to try them! You are so right about Journey Woman, it's great for the fall! I have a lot of Kilian samples but I don't think I have Single Malt, i need to check. I think I'd have noticed 😂 it sounds gorgeous. I love whisky! But not bourbon.
