I went to hull recently and really enjoyed it

The South African war statue is actually an individual memorial that is at the front of the main Cenotaph for all war remembrance.
You picked a shite hotel and took a short walk around a dead part of the town at a dead time of the day. If you were deliberately trying to make Hull town centre look bad, you couldn't have done a better job.
You also walked past Paragon Square takeaway which while not as good as it once was, was one of the original Yankee Land takeaways that contributed to Hull's legendary Chip spice addiction 😛

I've been to Hull once I must of been 18 and I remember being asked what I would like to drink and shock horror I asked for a G&T apparently everyone drank beer so ok I'll have a beer I say then I got ridiculed for being a Souther then it ended in a beer drinking competition well 6. 55 seconds I did it in mmm that shut them up. Not now. Anyway good time in Hull not many hotels back then but I would stay there
