    Watching this in New Zealand. I think you should try running it on used chip oil etc. Imagine this as a post apocolyptic, mad max vehicle, could you make it run on what's available? I dunno. But this channel is awesome!

      Yeah I’ve been thinking of trying some different fuel sources just for fun. I have seen someone running on vegetable oil but they had to heat it to keep it thin enough to flow well. I appreciate it!

    I just got a red one. But it looks like the Orange one. I think it had the same weird stickers and has wing nuts on the intake and exhaust. But has a fuel filter that was backwards and a hose from the crank breather to the intake. And has a center bolt valve cover and came in a wooden crate.

    • @jwsbackyard6413

      I’m thinking that they may have updated the design since I bought the red one years ago and the differences I saw were because of the update and not because the red and orange are actually different.

      Often changes makes them last, not just any brand name oil... this is low performance diesel engine.
      Spin it slower and load it only when its hot and you are good to go. Chinesium fails anyway at random, go honda if you need reliability as you cant beat quality control and material quality 🎉🎉

    I adapted the 20 MM shaft up to 1 inch and had no problem finding clutches and bigger pulleys. I won't use either as you can crack the insides. Use hot water. The 15W40 oil has to be topped off a lot as the oil consumption is higher than many motors. A 7 inch skinny Vee belt pulley is good for an alternator. I never loosened the fuel line but either. I wired the decompress and pulled many times until I smelled fuel oil through the exhaust. I don't rev hard and I run it on pump diesel only. It takes like 20 hours to break in.

    • @jwsbackyard6413

    • @jwsbackyard6413

      Not sure about that specific generator but it’s rated at around 3hp and 6lbs of torque.

    • @Derski92

      You would have to look into it but from memory to run a generator you need to have the engine to be able to get to a certain rpm to be able to create the correct frequency something like that but if you do a quick search you'll find your answer

    • @jetstream454

      3hp (2.2kw) diesel would probably power a head that would make less than 1.5kw, going by the usual loss from engine output to electricity output

    Hi JW, i have been looking at that one and the predator 212.... Im building a small well drilling rig and need it to run steady around 2000 rpm.... which one do you think will give me the best torque? 2000-2500 will be my set rpm range

    • @jwsbackyard6413

      I’m not really sure where each of them make their torque at but the predator makes more torque than the diesel. The diesel will be better on fuel, can run on used oils and it will be easier to maintain without the carb. The predator is cheaper, has a ton of parts available and makes more power. There are pros and cons for both but the predator is really the most practical option unless you are out away from civilization.
