When the enforcers are away, its open season in EDSA...

Then, 2nd offense, triple the fine and penalties. 3rd offense, they lose the license, and they lose the vehicle. Then let's see how hardheaded these drivers really are.

I was one of the citizens who suggested several times to increase the penalty for bus lane violators and I'm glad that was implemented. Yet many more are still violating it. Maybe suspending their driver's license for 6 months will make a difference in their attitudes about using the bus lane.

The truth is that many people are confident that they'll be able to leave the bus lane without being apprehended. Or they believe they'll be able to run away, or use influence to avoid being ticketed. So yes, no matter how high you make the penalty, some will still try it, because they genuinely believe they won't be apprehended.
