I always have been a Tekken player but i moved away from it to try out new games like Darksouls and recently i fell in love with pixel art over again, i deeply regret not giving King of Fighters a chance in my early days, everything is well put together, the story is not that bad, the character designs are unique and original, detailed sprites and backgrounds are beautifull, even the older entrys have very solid good gameplay. I bought Geese Howard in tekken 7 as dlc and it made me try out the older versions, my favorite version is KoF 98 slugfest, it truly makes me sad how Street Fighter gets more attention than KoF. Its a gem and an absolute classic. Thank you for uploading my friend.
The best classic (Neogeo) game is 98, and the best is probably 02um. The best graphics (probably in any 2d fg ever) is Xiii, out on the ps3, definitely worth checking. Personally i just dont put the amazing graphics over the roster variety (that ended up really limited due to the costly spritework) but many people consider it the best Kof anyway. Those are the essential titles.
When I first saw king in kof 99, I thought she was a guy, talkin bout "wow he's cool". As soon as I saw her victory dialogue artwork and realized she's a woman, I instantly fell in love. She was my first introduction to the concept of a "waifu".
The thought process behind King was like: “What if we take Ken from street fighter but make him more like Chun Li?” The result was one of the most fun kick characters of all time
Very nice. The evolution that came with Kof 96 was crucial for the series, many chars were nicely expanded. I just think you could have tried to show the moves in 2p mode, so we can see everything connecting. That's more important for supers.

King was my favorite. Back then gender lines were more defined so I always wanted to know if king was a girl or trans? Either was she was the boss.
