I’m Irish and I find the Notre Dame logo no way offensive like most people do. I find it stupid that people like Max Kellerman ASSUME that we are offended. My entire family is from Ireland and moved to Michigan in the 1940s. My great grandfather is one of the biggest fighting Irish fans! None of us find it offensive

If you feel that passionately, as a grown adult, about a fuckin' mascot, then I can't take you seriously. I love my college, and I wouldn't want anyone changing the symbols I grew up with. I suggest that the Cleveland baseball club has not gone far enough. Will Cain's argument was completely founded on those survey numbers, which as Max pointed out are clearly skewed since the majority of participants did not identify with their Aboriginal tribes. Not sure I agree completely with Max but definitely on the point about marginalized groups being subjugated to such stereotypes and belittlement of their heritage.

I’m Native American and I do not think the redskins name is offensive. That does not mean they should not get rid of it. I believe anything that has stereotypes like this should be changed. Also don’t believe the 9/10 survey that was probably with a group of wealthy native Americans in the nations capital. They should be asking the people in Oklahoma, N/S Dakota, Nevada etc. The natives living in the reservations. See if they think it should be changed.
Can people stop saying that the Florida State Seminoles need to change their logo and name. The Seminole Tribe in the State of Florida supports the team. They are also a legit tribe. If you go to a Seminole reservation, you see tribe members wearing Florida State gear. They see it as a badge of honor.

You can't compare centuries of oppression of people of color, to white Irish.
First of all, Irish are white and you can't be racist towards them.
Second, the Fighting Irish mascot and name was never at all meant to make fun of Irish but to actually make them look cool and badass. Compare that to the Redskins and Indians, it was meant to mock and make fun of them by depicting them in racist stereotypes - also no Irish person was ever offended by it, it was only brought around by racist trolls especially online to defend the use of the Redskins and other racist team logos/names by saying "OH LOOK THE IRISH ARE GETTING MADE FUN OFF TOO!!" when in fact it was never an issue and only a stupid talking point brought up by right wing trolls to detract from the issue. So no one was ever offended by it.
Third, it was white people who came up with that name and mascot for the Irish, it wasn't Native Americans or people of color. While it was white males who came up with the racist names/logos depicting people of color.
