Another thing I noticed: Miles was the only guy on death row this season not to have been missed by anybody. Shirley, Moses, and Ginzburg all had someone who was saddened by their deaths, but not Miles. He drove everybody away, and died with no one to mourn him. I think that was the point of his self-portrait: to have company with the only person he could stand-himself.
I loved it when Moses punched through the wall and choked his ass. What makes it even better is his hand coming out of the mouth of Miles' self-portrait.
So, not only did they let the prisoners have a glass mirror, They also let the guy who killed the owner take the mirror. And broke it into perfect shank sized shards for them. OZ really was a wild ride from start to finish
They also give the kitchen crew full use of extremely sharp knives and never do more than 1 count a day so the inmates are free to roam the prison as they please

One of the most memorable, and darkly ironic scenes, in all of Oz. Not only was Miles killed while engaged in the one thing that could take his mind off his approaching execution, his cellmate's hand went right through the mural's mouth, which is what got Miles killed in the first place.
Not only that, but his left hand went through the same wall, the very spot he broke his hand on before. This scene was awesome and pretty morbid as Moses was the last one remaining.
Shaun Feldman I never even noticed that until you pointed it out. If Miles had been painting on the other side of his cell, Deyell would have been shit out of luck.
Dyell did Miles a favour. He couldn't come to terms with his death sentence and couldn't choose how he was gonna die so Dyell chose for him and he didn't even see it coming. Brilliant.
I honestly thought that Miles went out mercifully. He didn't have to suffer the thought of dying soon and instead just got it real quick and unexpectedly

He went from a rich lawyer who got turned into a prison bitch to finally losing his mind and defeating the head of the Aryans schillinger. He has the greatest arch because he learned prison politics, learned to pay for protection, learned to kill others if needed. Schillinger created a monster.

The judge says to the prisoner that he will be executed next week and that the exact day is to be kept secret, promising that the prisoner will be taken by surprise. The prisoner is taken back to his cell and starts to think about it, reasoning to himself he concludes that the execution cant take place on a sunday since it would be the last day of the week and thus the only possible day he could be executed. Then from that point he reasons that saturday too must be discluded for the same reasons. Working backwards every day of the next week could not be the day of his execution, thus he realized that he couldn't be executed at all without the judge breaking his promise and thus couldn't be executed at all. Happily he waited in his cell until, on the following wednsday he was taken from his cell and hung from his neck until he was dead. The execution came as a total shock to him.
Deyell actually kind of did him a favor. Miles was terrified of the execution, because it had a specific date. This one caught him by surprise.
