I remember this book quite well. I was always surprised that Moebius' good friend Geof Darrow wasn't included? Seems weird to me. The Bolland piece is my favourite.. Very cheeky the way Arzach has his hand firmly gripping the "horn" on the saddle.. As he's peering down at the lovely nude woman on the bicycle! haha

What always fascinated me about Jean Giraud is his immense talent to do SF on one hand and westerns on the other hand (you must know the Lt. Blueberry character). Great tribute book and I appreciate you showing us the pages. I just checked on Amazon (Canada) and average price for the book (used) is $434.45 (new is $669.41). One great artist/illustrator missing, but in similar universe; Frank Frazetta!
Been truly digging having the spotlight turned toward Moebius over the last little while. I've always thought of him as part of a genius, misfit, comic creating super group. Moebius, Jodorowsky, Pratt and Manara. It's crazy how innovative and influential these cats were, each making a body of work that pushed the boundaries. Would be keen to see what you guys have to say about Hugo Pratt and Milo Manara... Granted, I'd love to see how you could pull off a video looking at Manara's work without frying the TH-cam algorithm!
Jim Fitzpatrick is an Irish artist who didn't work much in comics, but he's influenced by comic book art and by Celtic design work. His best known single piece is that two-tone portrait of Che Guevara, the one you see on t-shirts to this day. He also did album covers, such as Thin Lizzy's "Jailbreak" LP.
Jim Fitzpatrick is famous for the Che Guevara picture, and the Thin Lizzy logo. His Irish mythology art is fantastic! I don't think he's a comic artist

The art was first printed as a series of portfolios. Tim Conrad did work for Savage Sword of Conan and Epic magazine.

I alway thought the cover was by Giraud drawing Arzach in a Blueberry-like pose. Use to have this book.

Love Fitzpatrick's work! I have his stuff on my walls but he's never done any strips, which is odd that he is in this book, but still appreciated!
