I ride a Himalayan which is a different animal but this Interceptor sure is tempting. The looks, the sound and the power would win me over.

Great 1st impression thoughts Kate, I've had my Glitter & Dust 2019 since 2020 and the fun factor is amazing , done a fair few mods to mine now but that's another thing I love about the Interceptor you can easily make it your own with simple bolt on parts and accessories , Last summer I rode my Interceptor more than my Tiger Sport so that says something , enjoy while you have it safe riding out there 😁

Your reference to 'modern bar end mirrors' made me smile… Halcyon… and others… still make reproductions of the Stadium mirrors introduced before world war two. They suit my Interceptor really well, and unlike the RE ones, can be folded in for clearance when parked or filtering.
Regarding your comment when pushing the bike backwards, has yours had the lifting handle (for putting the bike on its centre stand) removed?… It's much easier to reach than the grab rail behind the seat.
I've had my Interceptor since June 2019, and still love it. They're so much more than they appear on paper.

That LED headlight really brings this up to date. IMO, the halogen looks dated rather than retro. The dials, too. Just a modern spritz on them would still keep the retro feel but with a more 2023 appearance. That black paint scheme though? Yes please! Looks fantastic.

It's a decent bike at a very nice price. I like how Royal Enfield are keeping it simple and basic. Good sensible motorcycling. I love my Royal Enfield Himalayan and had a very good impression of the Interceptor when I rode it a couple of years ago.

I had a demo ride on an Interceptor yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised and I thought it was a fun bike to ride. My opinion is very similar to yours. I have a video coming out tomorrow. Ride safe.

Beautiful creation! And the bike isn't bad lookin either 😁 On a serious note, the pegs Position is suspect but i like the Overall ergonomics on this bike.
A halogen light bulb slightly dim light and that exhaust note .... OMG that a very good restoration ..... Royal Enfield have made a classic bike better than before... i have a MR Clean and EVERY one turns their heads....
Like the looks, takes me back to early days. No dealer near me, closest is 14 hour drive away.

Hi Kate, there is a lot of weight and performance loss in the barmy exhaust system ie armour-plated silencers and double-walled headers (each with a cat converter). Replacing both is costly but the weight saving is considerable eg 10 kg and the bike transforms - surprisingly easy to push and lean (new shocks also reduce weight over the standard duds). The bike is powered down (presumably to access the A2 market) so with a better exhaust (inc hi-flow cat) and a hot cam (doable without head removal) then dyno runs go from 42 to 55 ish horsepower back-wheel ! My 2019 Interceptor has the classic black tank with silver rims and trims (much like my Trident I sold 40 years ago). I don't like the grey engine paint and eradicating the unnecessarily cheap and cheap-looking side panel transfers is difficult (they are clear-coated over) but gold lettering or brass nameplate adds to looks (in my view). Great bike for patrolling the A and B roads of Snowdonia. I'm often wondering why RE don't do an 850cc version - essentially a barrel change...
Like the look of the blacked out versions and prefer alloy wheels to spokes

Nice looking bike especially in the color combination of Sunset Strip (insert them song from 77 Sunset Strip) even though the engine looks a bit clunky. Must be my age but I think the bar end mirrors are old school. Looking forward to your review.

I like the classic look, and red and black is fine on that bike. Sure would be nice with a bit more horsepower sometimes. It'll be interesting to see what you think of it on the road.
I had a demo yesterday and while it’s lacking hp it has plenty of torque. It’s not fast, but it’s adequate. Ride safe.

Can't believe what good value this bike is. Biggest cost to me is paying £111 road tax for it in the UK.
Had one from new. Never ran right. Always back at dealers who as nice as they were seemed unable to actually fix it.

Hi Kate i have a 22 plate interceptor I personally think it's OK I no it could be better but you buy it for the price and it looking old just like this old fart lol yes it could be better mine is a red and chrome one but love it for its looks and may do the suspension one day I have had 180 miles to a tank full doing various speeds lol hope your fingers and wrist get better soon enjoy your ride on the interceptor just take the sighs in that's what's it's all about and the new ones look good blacked out
Kate i bought a 2019 model which keeps cutting out and im having to take it back to the dealers to get sorted the fuel cuts out i think its the relay doing this good luck lol

Bar end mirrors are far from modern, my brother had them on his 60s Beeza cafe racer.
Good video though....this might be a bike for when I get too old and feeble for my FJR and Vstrom.......I'm 64 btw😅

I agree it's the best standard colourway for the bike. Plenty of good things about the Interceptor but I can't get past the tacky, cheap indicators, bad design on footpegs location and the awful shaped and uncomfortable seat.

They’re a strange bike, mediocre in almost every way on paper, yet engaging and as much fun as anything I’ve ridden. Don’t ride it like a 900 sports bike, it won’t make sense. It’s speciality is being just an ordinary bike, economical, quick enough, yet cheap as chips. It doesn’t challenge more modern bikes, it’s created it’s own market in the UK amongst Classic bike riders who can’t keep their hands off them. And no TFT or ESA to go wrong!
~7liter for 100k meters and enjoyable ~50hp ...sure with this invesment you can overhaul lorries , famers vehicles 😂

Interesting point. Resale values are good, so is it disappointed owners but a lot of people seeking one? Normally the market is a good indicator as in crap resales values normally suggests crap bike but this one is a conundrum!

I'm 60 years old and have been riding continuously for 42 years, so I'm the exact demographic this bike is aimed at, but even for me it's a retro step too far back. It's a pretty thing for sure and maybe in ten years, assuming we aren't all riding around on giant batteries, I'll consider it, but not quite yet. Nice bike though
