He really is. The quintessential antiques roadshow expert Obviously from higher stock, with a fabulous diction .But utterly approachable, without a hint of the pompous.
He really is wonderful and he brings the best out of the people to whom he provides information and appraisals. He is warm and charming and his love for the jewelry is infectious. So knowledgeable. He is so kind to the people so humorous so insightful. I can't say enough about this lovely gentleman.
Geoffrey Munn's eloquent command of the English language makes me feel nostalgic for a time or place when more people spoke this way. His particular variety of charm is so tactful and empathetic, and I, like many others, could listen to him all day. He reveals the magic in every jewel he speaks about. Greatest respect and affection to you, Geoffrey, from Australia!
@@johnlighton7025 A truly wonderful man who can converse with anyone and make even the most modest of treasures become very precious to the owner. I love his excitement when a real treasure comes along.
When it comes to The Antiques Roadshow, he is part of my holy trinity with Hilary Kay and Henry Sandon. I have watched this video multiple times already. A second one would be welcome.
How wonderful to have so many of his interactions all in one video, such a peacefully eloquent and knowledgeable man. I will never grow tired of enjoying the way that his passion flows towards the individuality of the owner. Thank you for this AR gem.
I have no idea what he is saying half the time but he says it so beautifully. My favorite appraiser of all time. His knowledge is Encyclopedic and there is nothing he has not seen. Imagine what collections he has been privy to and what he has seen in those. I must buy one of his books one day.
He just purrs….He has the ability of gently building up the tension towards his valuation keeping one on one’s toes. A real master. I could listen to him for hours.
I do love it when he is on - his complete love of jewels and his delight in finding the beauty in things that may not have a huge monetary value is a joy to watch. His enthusiasm for his work is never ending.
My name is Kyle Nugent of Georgetown Louisiana and I absolutely love this show. Definitely one of my most favorite television shows to watch. Grew up enjoying it with my Grandmother Nyoka. All my life Ive hunted for and collect all sorts of old antiques and ancient artifacts. Some of which id love to share with the world. I could watch this show all day long! 😂
You’re definitely my type of guy. My husband has zero history in antiques or their provenance. Why not go onto the Roadshow and share your finds with others?
'There's no good chasing bargains in one's life' - I think this is really good advice in antique retail, if you find something that makes your heart miss a beat it's best to listen to it. I now leave bargain/treasure hunting to thrift shops and the like.
Geoffrey Munn always had a delightful way about him....his segment was always a highlight of any episode for me....his knowledge of course, his enthusiasm, but then there's something else, from the man himself....I'm obviously not alone judging from the comments. Some people are just very engaging and pleasant.
All gorgeous items, but the stunning pieces that were gifts from Tsar Nicholas are the most beautiful items of all! And the value of the lady's collection would be enormous. But I agree that they should remain together, and in the family.
That final valuation has everything we love about the UK Antiques Roadshow: A unique & charming guest with a fascinating story to tell, dazzling jewellery with dazzling provenance, & an opportunity to spend a few moments listening to Geoffrey Munn. Geoffrey Munn is as scintillating as the diamonds he examines.
10:18 The date range he gives actually coincides with the date that Tsar Nicholas and his wife and children came to England for an extended family visit with his cousin, King George, and family. There is a possibility that this brooch may actually have come from Russia as a small token from one of the daughters, etc. I find it very interesting and feel it may have more of a history, despite Faberge having a store in London as well. Also, could the stone possibly be a tsarovite garnet instead of a zircon? It is also light green and is more of the quality to match Faberge's reputation. Thanks!
As for the Fabergé brooch, it is certainly not cubic zirconia, but a Russian stone called demantoid, a type of green garnet. Fabergé was famous for selling inexpensive items that everyone could afford. That is why the brooch uses garnet and the simplest diamonds. On the other hand, the inexpensive stones were compensated by skillful work, especially with enamels. The imperial family bought kilograms of these pieces because they had to give something to their courtiers and tried to set an example of economy. Jeff is probably confusing it with modern times, when Fabergé pieces have become popular again and therefore expensive.
Hard to find authentic old world enthusiasts like this. I'm in australia and its a land of huge SUV drivers and loud mouth bogans in a throw away society.
Im 52 and I only have 2 pieces of family heirlooms but I definitely remember my nana wearing them often. Jewellery is made to be worn. Wear it taking the dog out or driving the kids to school. At the shop buying milk😂. If its beautiful to you and makes you smile...wear it often ❤ $2 or $20k only u know so wear it❤2024
That lady with the ruby eyed owl cufflinks, isn’t she the same woman who brought in… nvm, I wanna double check first but she’s certainly very familiar.
That woman with the art deco ring struck me as a bit grasping. I’m sure the old boy next door didn’t know the value of that ring, but I bet you she did.
This man is a treasure himself. The combination of knowledge charm and the common touch never misses.
He really is.

Precisely! An absolute expert in his field and fascinating to listen to

The best what Great Britain has to offer.

Opal necklace ( gift from her husband coz a dinner guest refused to eat anything she offered) followed by an opal ring
I'd love some owl cufflinks for my husband! I could listen to Geoffrey Munn's soothing voice all day long. He should do audiobooks!!
@@AngeDownie-by8ee Yeah! I just remembered. Opal is my favorite too I loved both of those pieces. I’m jealous of the black Opal. 😅
24ct gold brick national treasure. The Geoffery Munn. Follow that if you can.

I believe it is a stick pin not a tie pin . To be worn in a lapel with a bull dog pushed on the end . First piece .
Never ever sell a piece of jewelry to a jeweler who makes an unsolicited offer.
Nothing like flippin' the bird.
Well la tee dah. And whootie do.
