I enjoyed your "What's in my bag" video. I like to donate my unwanted fountain pens to charity. I enjoy imagining someone being thrilled to find one in the charity shop, taking it home, enjoying it.
If I attend the D.C. Pen Show, anything will be at least a $3000 pen. Even a Safari. You have a huge box from Mont Blanc, since 2-3 weeks ago, and you think anyone here will say "Nah, keep the plastic wrapper pristine." ??? LOOOOL Thanks for all the hard work you do to bring this reprieve from outside stress to many you've not met yet. :)
Swap out the invisible ink for royal blue? 🤣 . Eureka! Maybe Joost can set up a tour at Scribo & Omas, or Aurora? I have five pens that I use each week, with three that I have for every day carry pens, and two other pens that are swapped out with two new pens each week or two.
That's a fun and potentially great idea, tying the purchase of a pen to a vacation experience. (as long as you also bring a pen that is guaranteed to write :) )
I agree---Master and Commander is one of my favorite movies.....It inspired me to learn the violin for a decade along with my son (who played for 15 years) . And to visit the HMS Victory in Portsmouth. You must be OK, then-----------ha ha.
Thanks so much! It is one of those rare near perfect films. It really gives you a sense of those days. There are references to it all over the Channel. I love the idea of you playing Boccherini.
Now I do not "collect" pens in the manner some people add to an already existing medley just because of the novelty, without this deterring me from being up to speed on brands of interest. I intend to get a new pen on each birthday and perhaps Christmas based on a profound emotional appeal the model would have. For example, I'd love to own a Namiki Night Scene Pavilion in the future (the older model) because it represents sleepless nights as an undergraduate, travelling at dawn, sleepless nights practicing oil painting.
I’m thinking about a Sailor Pro Gear - Iris Nebula. The blue reminds me of my bike that I painted as a kid. I went to the store and picked out that color paint, metallic flake blue, I picked it out, out of all the colors available, so it was sort of a custom paint job. As soon as I saw that iris Nebula blue, I immediately thought of that bike. So the pricy pen at least has a certain amount of sentimentality for me, which is pretty cool, provided it looks like the photos they post online, because you never know for sure I don’t know who photographs some of these pens ( or anything you’re contemplating buying online) because often they make them far less appealing than they really are in real life. Well, welcome to 21’st century logic. Man…That gold nib kind of freaks me out though. What if it sucks? It’s not like I can just go buy another replacement gold nib if I don’t like it. Personally the “gold” means nothing to me, but if it has a bit of flex/line variation, I’ll like that because I like stubs for the line variation), but they’re too damned thick, and that can be a nightmare depending on the paper. I like fine nibs. A Japanese nib would certainly assuage my fears in regards to European fine nibs being too thick. $360.00, or whatever it is, is an absurd amount of money to sped on a pen. That pen is quite a step up from my Ecos and Metros. This Sailor would absolutely qualify as a “grail” pen for me. Well if I buy it, I guess I’ll just have to cut down my calorie intake to 600 per day for of couple months…How much is blood going for these days; maybe I can sell some blood? Ultimately, I’m sure my good sense will keep me in check, and I won’t buy it, especially and MAINLY because I’d be buying it without ever seeing it in person, or actually touching it, let alone writing with it….THAT is crazier than the price of the pen - Buying sight unseen. I’d drop the cash, IF I could see it and try it first, because I do like to write. Ingesting ink? I’ve done it. I’ve licked it off my hand, and sucked on a nib ( no pun intended I assure you), to get the damned thing flowing. When I smiled in the mirror, I looked like something from the Exorcist with the crevices between my teeth dark blue, and my tongue, and teeth enamel in various lighter shades of blue. It’s fine! It’s just a little ink. I don’t swallow it ( again, absolutely NO pun intended). I just spit it out, and rinse my mouth out with water. It’s kind of fun spitting in blue.
Hello Hemingway! Another stellar live stream! Really dig that Majohn! Might have to put that one on my radar! Have to be truthful. I HAVE touched my pen nibs to my tonque lately! Did get them writing if they were hesitant. Only one time did I actually taste the ink. Probably should stop doing that though! Looking forward to the videos you have coming up! Back to the Majohn. . .I REALLY dislike those dinky short international cartridges! Never had much luck ever using them. Hard to get started, seem to hard start at the worst times. Perhaps that's why your Majohn was hard starting. Now, longer cartridges, especially with large openings, like the Pilot ones, work ok for me. Even longer ones with the smaller openings have given me problems before. Have a nice safe and sane Fourth, HJ!!
I would love to see a video on correspondence having just joined the letter exchange, I'm a little out of practice with letter writing, so that would probably help 😊
1. I've been using a couple of Franklins-Christoph, Model 55 in the colorway Sex and Candy, and a Model 20 in Antique Green. 2. I've licked the occasional nib. 3. No inelegant pens!
Saludos
Any advice for nib options for the Mag600? I bought one because I like the pen -- despite not particularly liking (modern or vintage) flex nibs (they're always scratchy as hell for normal writing) ... and I'd like to swap out for another gold nib.
Hello and thanks for asking, if you mean the Pen Pal Group, it’s for Members at the Illuminati and Cognoscenti levels. th-cam.com/users/hemingwayjonesjoin Thanks very much!

That’s pretty wonderful. Thanks for watching.
This is a lovely gesture, opening a new world to someone else.
You have the most humane approach to the love of pens. That's only being wise, dear Tim!
Thanks so much!

Thank you very much. See you in DC. If you are there.
That coffee table book on Montblanc, gorgeous. Hope you enjoyed your 4th of July.
Thanks so much! You too! All the best!
That Majohn is pretty cool- so happy I could witness the miracle of it actually writing!
Haha! Yes! That was quite a moment.
I love it when unplanned things happen in videos.
If you want a grail pen nothing beats a Parker ‘51.
I have a Parker 51. Thanks!
Love my vintage one.

Oh! Rocking a Guayabera...
A Summer Staple for me. Love them, especially the pockets.
For the fourth, I was with my wife celebrating my birthday!
@@Michelt007 Happy Birthday! Many Happy Returns!
The Scribo Feel will be your new favourite pen! 🎉
I hear this and it makes me very curious!
@@HemingwayJones when will you be in Bologna?

That’s another topic; which pen or pens to bring with! Thanks for watching.

What a great hour H.J. enjoyed it so much!
Thank you for being here.
Awesome show ❤️ good idea to buy a pen in it's country of origin!
Thank you!
In the UK, we will hopefully be celebrating on 5th July! 😉
Onoto is pronounced 'oh-no-toe'; one of my all-time vintage marques.
Thanks Mate!
Looking forward to the "What's in my bag"

"Don't drink the water the pens soak in it"

Well, actually, it doesn't *have* to be gold ... I'd gladly swap out for ... anything that actually writes pleasantly.
Buenos días
Check the cartridge, frank in Oswego, ill
Seems OK now.
New pen this week Goigia rose gold exfine .
