    We came to Madhurai inspired by your Food art and to see Meenakshi ammavaru, of course. We loved the sambar and pongal at Modern restaurant. Thanks for the suggestion and awesome video.

    I'm from madurai bro.. this hotel remains me of my childhood memories.. they only first introduced chilli parotta in madurai taste will be ultimate.. ❤

    We conducted our son and daughter's marriage, our sastiaptha poorthi over a period of 5 years for which Modern Restaurant was our caterers. All those who attended the functions enjoyed their food varieties and were highly appreciative of their excellent quality and taste.

    I also came to know that sambar is the fusion of maratha n tamil cuisine as given by tanjour Maratha emperor.
    I am die hard fan of sambhar....

    Remember to have seen a picture of late Queen Elizabeth dining from this restaurant. Also late President Venkatraman. My favourite food items were Vegetable Biryani and Masala dosa

      Mam... Tamarind n jaggery r the real taste makers n true appetizer...
      With out which sambhar is incomplete...

      @@shivajimande7545 true but variations are there. If it's tiffin sambar, tamarind isn't added in many places. Also tomato isnt sautéed but added at end to keep it's mild sourness.
