  • Today we had a quick walk along the promenade in Side and then decided to head to Manavgat to visit the big Bazaar (market), which is every Monday. We also took a stroll along Manavgat river, just head towards the big yellow bridge and you will find steps down to the river, which features peacock green waters. Here you will get the local tour guys asking you to take a boat tour on one of their boats, which are docked down the sides of the riverbank. There's a few shops and bars as you walk down, which are quaint and there isn't any pushy selling. Up on the main streets there is so much shopping, restaurants, even fast food places, such as Burger King and also many banks and a post office.
We travelled there and back by bus, which do pull up just anywhere and all have destinations/hotel names down the right hand side to show where they are headed. The price was 14TL per person, each way - so practically nothing! Alternatively, there are taxis all over and cost around £8 to £10, depending on driver and how good you are at haggling.
The market itself is both indoor and outdoor and has the typical stalls of clothes, bags, perfume, Turkish confectionary, etc, and the hustle and bustle of any busy market.

Hi Frances. Thanks so much. My best advice is to take a little bit of cash with you. Take your card and draw out from their machines as it gives a much better exchange rate. We got 24Lira to the £1. So it was great. However we did notice on most signs, they prefer euros. So maybe exchange a bit before you go. As for money for the hotel, we used Lira to tip staff and they are very thankful. Other than that you really don’t need anything in the hotel unless your not all-inclusive. Have a wonderful time at the Acanthus, it’s simply Amazing!

Hi Lee. So there’s 2 options really. The bus service up the road from the hotel. Or ask Ceren on Guest relations for the Acanthus taxi. On the bus service it takes about 20-30 minutes depending on stops. With the taxi, it takes no longer than 10 minutes. Really easy to get around and the Market is massive.
