Well, on the bright side he only said "好きだよね" which translates to(source google) "you like it, right?". The "It" which can be referring to me(私) or him/her(彼/彼女)(depends on the context of your conversation) didn't really specify who cuz he didn't say me or him in the sentence. So, at least the girl didn't know that he was actually talking about her liking him and not his friend. Otherwise, it would be way more embarrassing....... and cringe😆

The original phrase doesn't specify who likes who but the translation does, so that nuance is lost. Not really the fault of the TL; I don't know of a natural English phrase that could express that ambiguity well.

If I have to assume it was probably because of his insecurity (He also always said that he has a weak mentality) with his numbers on streaming that he felt he wasn't big enough to ask other streamers to do a collab with him and by the time he probably just shook it off and just do what he actually wanted and thus he unleashed his real character
Also other proof of this is when he talked about Coco's graduation, he felt that he doesn't hold enough power and courage (because of his insecurity of his numbers) to even properly say goodbye to her directly who was his own work mate and the person he always looked up to.

Alongside what rythm sync said, the state of Holostars for a long while was very bad. They were isolated from the outside because they were idols, and they were isolated from Hololive because they were male.
The first collab with anyone outside didn't even happen until close to Miyabi's first anniversary. Essentially, confidence with day-to-day interactions does not equate to confidence as a streamer interacting with another streamer while also navigating their fanbase. He wasn't great with non-Holostars guys either, it was just way worse with girls due to everything that could go wrong. He didn't just have his own reputation but Holostars' reputation as a whole to think of. Their reputation wasn't great. Messing up just once could screw them over. No wonder he would get so nervous he'd throw up.
Both his and Holostars' situation is different now. Not only did he gain experience as a streamer, Holostars won't crash and burn if, for whatever reason, he screwed up.
