HOW TO COME BACK FROM A BAD RACE | MY FASTEST 100M/200M SPRINT OF 2024 | The Speed Operation #22

- After spending the past year training hard in an attempt to qualify for the 200m at the Paris Olympics, I unfortunately missed out after failing to make the top 3 at the national champs. After dusting myself down and sprinting my way back to form, I'm now feeling much better and ready to take on some races over 100m & 200m.
I'm looking to run down my season's bests in both events and show how you can bounce back from underperforming in just over a week!
As i mentioned in the last episode, there's plenty left to fight for this season, and In this episode I identify my mistakes, train to fix them, and then get back out on the world continental tour to run faster than I have all year.
The comeback is officially on, let's go!
Please make sure to like, subscribe, and leave a comment if there's anything you want to see in the future.
Thanks for watching!

Smash it at the champs Joe
Let’s go!🙏🏼
Great attitude. Nice to meet you at the Sheffield meet (my wife was in the 100m heat before your second race),
🙏🏼 Great to meet you!
Joe, I enjoyed watching you man! No where to go but up bro, keep grinding and smashing your PB's!
Thanks a lot, let’s go!!
@@joeferguson200 You're welcome bro!
Good work. Good luck in the nationals.
Thank you!
I always wait for more of these videos because I just love track life type videos so much
I’m glad you enjoy the content!
Have to respect Joe's resilience after missing out on the Olympics 💪🧠 don't think many other athletes would bounce back like this so quickly!
Being able to dust yourself off and go again is key, there’s always something to fight for🙏🏼
Let’s go Mr.Joe! Praying for you 🙏🏿🙏🏿
Thank you!!🙏🏼
Hey man, really enjoying watching your videos since I’ve been getting back into sprinting. Only really started watching the last 5. I not long did speed endurance for the 200m and did 5 reps, can just about half sprint it 🤣 keep up the good work and hopefully we’ll see some PB shattering times 👍👍🫡🫡
Thanks for supporting the channel! Yeah speed endurance work is no joke🤣 for sure faster days are coming, let’s go!
As an American it’s interesting that in the UK ‘Nationals’ is a different meet from the Trials. In the US the medalists at Nattys are the Olympic qualifiers, at least for track.
Yeah it’s a bit confusing, we sort of have two ‘nationals’. One being the UK champs which is the Olympic trials, and then the England champs (not including Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland) which is a separate competition but acts as the trials for junior and U23 teams, and just another race opportunity for senior athletes
Amazing video bro, keep up the good work🔥. what’s that beat at 11:45 though ?
Thanks a lot! That beat is from Power Structure Records🔥
Keep up the work Joe. The comeback is real🔥😈
The comeback is rolling🤝🔥
That was some close competition in those 100s 😂
😭Just needed the race practice
U r a beast man!!!
Let’s goooo!!🙏🏼
Trust yourself brother 👍👍
You came to my school
Joe im huge fan of yours ,can you give some tips on how to land and strike the ground underneath my center of gravity?
luv you ❤
Thank you for the support! I’ll look at including this in a future video, but leaving some space between your foot and the track in the first few steps so you can create some negative velocity before contact is crucial
Was it a low key turn up meet at your ground? You gap between you all was mad. Keep up the hard work my mate. That 200 has plenty more time to come of it. 50-100m is where it’s lacking slightly your speed of the bend unreal and finish is strong. 😊
Yeah a pretty low-key meet in the 100 so I was there to practice my phases, ready to go faster soon! For sure I’m looking forward to more opportunities this year, let’s go!🙏🏼
@@joeferguson200 respect bro.
Keep up the hard work man I like following your progress.
Never give up on the dream. Are you a full time athlete now?
@@Hessy93 Really appreciate it!
I still do some work on the side currently but I’m pushing to make the dream happen!
@@joeferguson200 your welcome my mate.
I still believe one day you can go sub 20 and sub 10.
Keep it up anyway. And keep the content coming 🙏🙏⏱️
Bit of a random question Joe, but have you ever long jumped? With your top end speed and obvious spring I think you’ve got 8m+ written all over you.
I tried it when I first started as a kid, but haven’t done it in a long time. I’m interested to see what I could jump but might be a bit of a risk to the achilles hahahaha
I accept that long jumping and injuries seem to almost go hand in hand, but might be worth a try in a few years. Jumps coach John Shepherd recently put out a TH-cam video detailing some German research correlating 100m speed with potential LJ distances, and it was very eye-opening. It basically said that a 10.8 100m sprinter should be able to long jump 8 metres, so your potential is huge.
you came to my school simpsons lane
Well done, when you work more on sprinting in turns, the race is better.
Thank you! For sure, training on the turn makes a huge difference for me
Does actively driving your legs straight down into the track make you faster? would love to know. :)
It’s something we call “hammering the nail” we allows us to produce as much force as possible which in turn creates that spring-like reaction off the track!
Thank you😊
Do you still have to warm up between rounds?
Normally yes, but as we only had 30mins in this case I just had to stay warm whilst recovering
Just a question, could I know what your 100/200 times were back when you were in highschool?
My fastest times at age 16 were 10.9/22.1 and at age 19 (U20 age group) my best was 10.57/20.76
@@joeferguson20010.9 at 16??? Holy

🤝
Do you know what you can run the 400m in?
Honestly I’m not sure, I guess there’s only one way to find out, maybe I’ll try it at some point in the future
🔥 are you taking Creatine? It might be a gamer changer for you
I sometimes take creatine in the winter but I don’t take it during season as it makes me put on around 2kg in water retention which obviously won’t help in competition
I mean I’ve seen a lot of people argue against that it helps you produce more power, reduces risk of injury it binds testosterone together and helps recovery rate it’s been proven by many people it’s a big help for sprinters
If your 6’5ft probably 2kg would have been put on but if your 5’11 probably only 0.5 - 1kg but it helps you have more oxygen in your muscles further improving you performances also more electrolytes
What model of shoes do you warmup in?
I have a few pairs but at the moment I’m enjoying the adidas supernova and the adidas SL
bro not to be rude but have u seen your headset dent, anyway keep up the good work i love your content
Lol it’s just where my hair is flattened 😭😂 thank you🤝
Hey man does carbo plate spikes have a support in 100m. can i reduce my time in 0.1s with carbon plate expensive spikes
I definitely believe they help and can make you run a faster 100m, if utilised perfectly somewhere between 0.05-0.1 depending on the person
What’s your height?
5”10
Have you ever tried the 400 ?
Not since I was about 14, but been thinking of trying it out, maybe we’ll see a 400m soon👀
SP2 vs SP3?
Still need to do a bit more testing but I’m enjoying the SP3!
Who do you thinks winning the 100 and 200 at the Olympics
I think it’ll be close between Kishane Thompson and lyles for the 100 and I think lyles has the 200 under wraps
@@joeferguson200 why no Tebogo Seville or knighton?
Wow, these new spikes became so cringey ... I miss the spikes of the 2000s and early 2010s
The new spikes are definitely faster though 🤷🏻♂️
@@joeferguson200 not sure about that. No mater what spikes you gave Bolt when he ran 9.58, he would still run 9.58.
Can you give away me a addidas prime sp 3 🤗
