Best fps gain for iracing will be to turn off Dynamic objects.
Great feature to add for sure, but I still think they couldve implemented it better for triple screens like on Assetto Corsa where you can change the FSR preset on the center screen and the side screens, so for example you can run ultra preset for the center monitor to keep the quality high but performance or balanced preset on the side screens for the fps gains.

Didn't work for me in VR. It cut off one eye. Not sure if I did something wrong. Let us know how it goes for you
@@carltonsmall682 had the same issue and had to revert to not using it. Mind you i did try some of Dans other things he mentioned and feel it made a difference

I'm on triple 1440p using an AMD 5600xt. The balanced mode looked horrible, it honestly seemed to be bugged like it was running at a much lower res and not upscaling. The quality mode looks good and I am running it with a decent fps boost. I've been waiting for this for a while, glad iRacing implemented it!
I have 6950xt and looks like dog poop even on ultra.

Too bad it doesn't work with SPS in VR ( only left eye is working ), and when SPS is OFF it cost more in CPU.

i tried this with VR and it doesn't work, it only outputs through one lens for some reason.
Thank you for this info, you do come up with some great ideas. I've not put the fxaa on, but i now have AA samples at 8 and pulling 130fps now, where i had 110fps before, with AA samples at 4, plus better looking too. Thank you again kind sir.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I am running 1440p tripples and even when I just set it to ultra it looks soooooooo bad.
I couldn't get this to work on my 3080 Ti properly. It's like it wasn't expanding the lower resolution to fit my screen (triple monitors.)
Though I didn't try disabling SMP, I'll try that next.

I dont know why but in my case all the fsr settings doesnt change anything. FXAA is enabled ingame. Have an nvidia card but should function or? Perhaps because of hdr enabled.
Im only running 1080p, but i went ahead and limited my fps at 120, because the i7 and 3060 combo, even on the triples was pushing 170-180 fps on a high quality tune.
Why should you limit the fps to 120, higher is better right?

Thank you so much, I had frame drops from 120fps to 60 in 2 corners and now i only have drops to about 105fps
Great to see, I am not per se struggling with FPS because of running pretty low settings (r5 5600x, 3080ti, 32GB fast ram) to maintain 144fps @ triple 1440p 99% of the scenarios. Maybe I can get some more eye candy while still pumping out the frames.

Has your setup been holding 144 well? I’m going to be upgrading to 3080 ti soon but only run a single 1440 ultrawide( running same setup minus gc) currently have 1660 super but with recent updates I struggle to stay above 100 fps
I just tried this with my Rift S and is looking very bad even on FSR Ultra . The implementation of FSR in Assetto Corsa is much better. In AC is actually looking sharper in VR with FSR .
Hi Dan, I turn these settings on and when I load into the car, the screens go black. I can see my overlays and virtual mirror and other iRacing messages however, everything else is black? Have you every seen this? I have a 10850k and a 3080TI
@Andrew Locke i had the same issue yesterday. Its ok when watching the reply but screen goes black but I see my virtual mirror. Did you find out what was causing it?

Doesn't work with GTX 1070 Ti on triple screen, the FOV has changed and everything looks blurry even on ultra, no fps gain.
How FSR looks is highly dependent on your settings, resolution, etc. It can look great and double your fps. It can also make it look like hell. Many factors involved. If you're trying to run iracing on a 5600xt with triple 1440p monitors, FSR is a godsend.
If you're running at 1080p, I thought ultra looked the same and gave a slight fps raise. I run triple 1440p with a 3080ti/5800x3d. I could tell a difference, albeit slight on balanced but it did give a significant fps bump. I dont need more fps, I can typically run graphics mostly maxed and pull high fps, but Ultra looked the same. I could see no difference in image quality with trip 1440p monitors so why not use it. It's free FPS. Still pull more fps than I need in a race but when we have 30 cars lined up at the start, I see triple digit fps instead of the drops down under 100. They've improved FSR on iracing in updates as well.
For those of us with a 5600XT running triple 1440p trying to eek out some free FPS, what would you recommend? I just turned on FSR, and definitely saw an improvement, but I would like to understand what other settings play a role with FSR.

you have your gpu memory and system memory all the way to the right... is that was ur supposed todo? i have 48gb of ram and a 3060ti and a amd5800x . Struggling with frames with 3 monitors, maybe that is why i am having problems... i need to switch both of those to the max setting.. what do you think?
I tried it only once so far but it was a meme for me. It only downscaled the resolution and did nothing else. So I just had a pixel mess so I had to change it back and restart iRacing so it's shut off again. Maybe it was the SMP thing as well but appearently it doesn't do what it should for everyone. I'll have a look into it a few weeks later since I fortunately don't have any trouble with low frames.

I tried this yesterday and had very poor results visually. I'm running triple 1080p and don't recommend this unless you run a higher resolution. Even with FSR Ultra @1080p, the image was very poor. There was a lot of aliasing in the distance and blurriness on the dashboard. It was quite distracting. If you're at 1080p, it's best to run native and turn down settings unless you can live with the visual issues. I couldn't stop focusing on it, so I reverted back to my previous native resolution settings as they were sharper and I was still able to maintain at least 60fps.
Yeah, at 1080p triples you’re probably also not really GPU limited
I got the same with 5120x1440p not worth the headaches imo for a few more FPS.
@@DanSuzuki I actually am since I’m on a 1080ti. I wasn’t able to upgrade during the pandemic so I’m a little behind on my GPU. I use the in game DRS to keep me at at least 60fps during races. I can maintain over 100 during test sessions but I frequently drop to 60 in races. FSR did give me more FPS, but the visual cost was too high for my liking.
@@kOBR4one yeah the boost I got was around 18 FPS on average with FSR Ultra, so it was a good boost, but the visual issues are too much of a distraction so I reverted back.
@@gdoumit Well, I've been using FSR in Assetto Corsa for a long time and it's going very well, I go with 5700xt ultra at 6400x1080p. triples 27 34 27". You will have something wrong in your configuration.
I got a Samsung Odissey and i had to shut down motion blur with FSR on. If not, it's juste horrible, just like i was driving with 2 liters of red wine in my blood...
Without Motion Blur, it works fine, but, with some tracks , even with FSR set on Ultra, it's weird (Le Mans for example)... The colors look too clear, as if i had the sun on my face. But, in Laguna Seca it's fine.
I use an RTX 3060ti, maybe, FSR is better with AMD cards ?
Does anyone know if this will help with VR also? I'm running a Reverb G2 on a i9700 RTX2070.

while I was testing cars to buy I tried to use fsr with oculus cv1... after enabling it I have sen image only in my left eye... hud and ui was there in right eye, just there was black in place of enything that was track. Will try disabling smp, and going up in resolution as it was set to 1080p (if that matters much in vr)... still variable fps. But that just confirms how bad cv1 drivers are (got ryzen 5600 and rx6900xt... )

Probably a stupid question but I guess I need to put fxaa active in nvidia control panel for it to work as it's intended? Any idea where I can find the correct nvidia control panel settings for iracing?
Hi dan, i am on 11700KF with 3080 Zotac with 1440p 32" triples - but when i switch FSR/DLSS on - i will loose 30-40fps instead of gain some performance. I am latest GPU driver and excatly same problem i have with ACC - there is no improvement in terms of FPS when FSR/DLSS is ON. FSR in AC works perfectly...Can you help pls?
apparently FSR 2.0 is wayyyyy better.. but hey I'm not complaining.. Glad to see iracing implementing these things

Don't you have to lower the resolution within the game settings as well? Wouldn't adding FSR to the same resolution picture decrease the framerate? I ask because when running triples, I cannot select a lower resolution that doesn't shrink my picture.
No, fsr does that for you - the resolution within the game is the upscaled resolution

Its a good start but fsr 1.0 is just not good, dlss 2.XX would we amazing, but fsr 2.0 would be very good middle ground for most, thx for the vid, btw i probably missed but what nvidia gpu did you use for this test?

My game doesn’t even run when I try to start it after the changed the FSR and when It starts after several attempt my hole picture are weird. Tested with FXAA and SMAA with and without SSAO and HDR

Yeah, it's great. I had to modify it a bit to make the shifts "shorter" but in the newer versions this has been fixed.

dlss is pretty bad on ACC, and I imagine most racing games, so I wouldn't hold your hopes up

Hey Dan. Wenn ich FSR aktiviere wird das Bild total unscharf und verwaschen. Was mache ich da falsch.
Eventuell Motion Blur an? Ansonsten wird das Bild schon unschärfer durch die niedrigere gerenderte AUflösung.

@@alexanderschreier252 Einfach FSR aktivieren, mehr musste nicht machen :) Auflösung ändert sich für dich nicht, aber z.B: FSR auf Performance rendert das Bild dann in 720p und skaliert es auf deine 1440p hoch

Doesn't work with VR unfortunately, hopefully they will patch that. Meanwhile you can use fsr in VR with OpenXR toolkit. The fps gain was HUGE :)

@@iestyn81 Yes, better read the instructions on the OpenXR kit site or check a setupguide on TH-cam. The short answer is press ctrl-F2 in the sim to open the OpenXR toolkit, but lots of options so check the site or a guide to know what everything does :)

Sample rate isn't related to FXAA or SMAA. There's no such thing. MSAA is entirely different technology.

i do nto understand, maybe doing something wrong, but FSR quality looks like shit immediatly adter i turn it on, restart the game. I downloaded FSR 1.0 but this is not the way as should work on nvidia 5760x1080 resolution.... I've tried DLSS on laptop with games those support it and it was really good but here i got instant worse resolution than native - maybe in nvidia panel need to setup something? to be frankly even on this video it looks bad... so these perfomance gain i think is not worth anything and after update iR runs worse approx 10-15 fps lower, some shit is going here... smell a poop :D
Do I need to install any software to use it or just select one of those options?

You shouldn't make big claims that are not factual Dan, this shit is broken and or iracing has no clue how to. All it does right now in iracing is hinder performance.
