That was driving me nuts. I don't use Canva enough to find these types of nuggets. Thank you so much. Also, thanks for getting right to the point. You are appreciated! 🥰
Thanks, all I needed was to get to the 1:37 mark and I knew what to do from there. I appreciate the short and helpful video.
God Bless You!!!!
I can't believe I have never noticed that! Thank you so much for making this video, it is much appreciated!
How to change it from MM to Inches? That’s my issue
Right, mine is on px and I need inches. Can't figure out how to change it
I am sure you all figured it out by now but for everyone else with this question.
You change the units of the actual document by going to “resize & switch” then the units will be inches in all other places
@@pattonm291where is resize and switch located May I ask?
@@iahgurlpinktvI believe you have to have Canva Pro because my resize has the crown next to it. I have Canva Pro.
I have been wanting to do this for some time, so glad for your help.
Thanks a lot! To the point and quick! Saved me a lot of time!
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much ...I have watched like 10 videos and this is exactly what I am looking for. Thank you!!
Very helpful for me! Thank you soo much!
Thanks was looking for it. I wish they did a Scale Ratio input. Ability to Scale up or down by an exact factor e.g. 0.8, 0.5, for all currently selected elements.
just subscribed. Your video was short, clear and concise! Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video lesson!
Glad it was helpful!
🥹THANK YOU!! This is gonna be so helpful for me when I’m making my embroidery patterns. You da real MVP. 🔥 and subscribed! ☺️
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you!!! This is exactly what I needed.
Thank you this is what I like. simple and to the point
Weird to see size inside of postion option
exactly ❤ this is what I look for after dragging images
That's helpful for some things, but how you do lengthen a design without it making it bigger? The ratio control is greyed out in "Position" so I can't increase the design size length without it also making the height correspondingly bigger.
you can't, which is a limitation of Canva. This is why I typically use photoshop, which allows you to stretch graphics and text.
My question too!
Bummer, but thank you for clarifying. Seems like a simple thing to fix by Canva folks.
That was one thing I didn’t like about Canva. Thanks for the news on the update and tutorial 😊
Very helpful, thank you love.
Thank you so much for this video!
Thank you so much! Just what I needed.
Glad it helped!
How do you change the units of measure? cause on my end, it's on mm unit but I want to change it to inches. thanks for answering and btw, great video!
When you create your document, set the unit of measure to inches. Or if you have canva pro, click resize and magic switch then scroll and select custom size, then check the current page dimensions and change the current unit of measure from mm to inches in the drop box. I can make a video for that this week though.
yes, i learnt new things. thx v much
You’re such a genius! I was doing the 1080x 1350 and girl I was struggling haha 😆
Can you help? Pretend you have a 10 page doc laid out and you wanted to put number elements on it. how can you make them all the same in an easy way instead of setting the size (which helps a lot more than dragginng the corners btw, so thank you)
How did you make your element unit size into inch? Mine is mm how to change it that
Same! Mine is px (pixels) and I need inches 😢
When you create your document, you have to set the dimensions for the document size in inches for it to display inches when resizing.
When you create your document, you have to set the dimensions for the document size in inches for it to display inches when resizing.
Total lifesaver!!! Thank you!!!
Thank youuuu.
It's helping me. 😭♥️
For the live of me I could not figure out where to go. Thank you.
Thanks for this tutorial
You're welcome 😊 I discovered it today and had to share.
Is this canva pro? I have the free and there is no position item as there is no menu
great tip. Thanks!
Wish we could do this for frames
What if it is an irregular shape? I want to design something for a blank space of a backpack. And the blank space is irregular. I don't know how to find the dimensions for that :(
Are you trying to create a template for a backpack to design? If it's an odd irregular shape, that's more advanced and best suited for Illustrator, Silhouette Studio, Affinity, etc. If it's too large to scan, I would take a picture, notate the length and width, remove background and unneeded area, convert the image into an SVG, and resize proportionally to match my measured length and width. But, that's me. You could also try to recreate the irregular shape by combining various shapes in Canva. Otherwise, measure length and width and size proportionally. I hope I understood your question.
I created a curved line in Canva, but the curve is too deep and I want it to be just slightly curved, is there any way to do this? I am so lost.
DO you have a recent update on this?? I can't find the position button when I select the element now. I"m not sure if there is a recent updated but I've looked a new tutorial and I can't find anything!!!
I just checked, and "position" is still at the top. If you don't have anything selected, it'll be at the top left. If you have something selected it will display next to the transparency icon at the top.
OMG. Thank you!!!! 😭
Thank you I needed this
Thank you for this! Question: How to make a shape stop autosizing? I'm losing my mind. Ugh. TY!
Click the pad lock, this will unlock maintaining proportions. Some designs, however, you can't unlock.
Thanks so much!
You're welcome!
That you for the direct to the point video!!! Love it.😃
My elemnt doesn't let me unlock the relation between width and height. Help!
You can unlock shapes, but graphics/elements can't be stretched out of proportion in Canva, that's one of Canva's current limitations.
Mine still locks the 2nd measurement and I don’t know why even when the lock is unlocked
some graphics are proportional so they can not be unlocked to stretch to exact dimensions.
❤❤thank you for sharing!!!!
I'm trying to make a square pic a 2.5 inch round size for buttons. How do I do that?
did you ever figure it out!? Im using the circle shape and just entered 3.0 for the width and height but im not sure
Thanks for this!
Thank you for the great video! I am trying to figure out how to download the file and not have all the extra white space around the image. It makes the image hard to size when printing for projects. Any ideas would be great! thank you!
Are you taking about it having a white background? If so, you need to remove the background. If you've already done that, when downloading be sure the transparent background option is checked.
Is there a way to change the same element in all pages? Like edit the position and apply to all pages with that element? I have yet to find that feature. Thx
Not in Canva. That's something you can do with Adobe smart objects.
@@PrettyPartyandCrafty yes I finally realized the program lacks that feature so I’ve been manually editing every slide 🥴 I appreciate your responding!!!!!
May I know how did you changed the unit of measurement to inches? Mine is the default, pixel. Thanks!
Yes. If your document size is set to inches, it should default to inches. But if your document is sized in pixels, it will default to pixels.
thanks a lot
Very helpful
Glad to hear!
Thank you so much
thankyou!
RockStar 💫
how to unlock the ratio? Thank you!
It's shown at the 1:44 mark. Click the padlock to unlock ratio
Thank you
You're welcome
how did you get inches and not px?
When you create the document, you must choose inches, otherwise you have to resize the entire document to inches by clicking "RESIZE & MAGIC SWITCH", select "CUSTOM SIZE" then select the first box and change the units from pixel to inch in the dropdown menu.
Thank you!!
thanks!!!
Ok canva! That sizing thing really bothered me with canva 😂.
You and me both!
Thank you so much! :)
Glad it helped!
im using a template and the size is locked and won't let me unlock -- what am i missing. thanks
The document size or graphics? Could be several possibilities
1. If you are using the free version of Canva, you can't resize the document dimensions. You'd have to copy and paste the design onto a new canvas with the dimensions you want. I definitely recommend the pro version because you can resize without having to copy and paste. www.prettypartyandcrafty.com/suggests/canva-pro/
2.If you purchased the template from someone, the designer is able to lock it, so that you can only edit content.
@@PrettyPartyandCrafty - thanks! I am using the pro version and it is a template for a menu. The items are in a "frame" by type (appetizers, sandwich, etc) but my menu is smaller and bigger than theirs and i cant change the dimensions of the frame to fit correctly. Thanks for any guidance!
I'm having the same issue, some elements do allow you to unlock the ratio, but a lot of Elements like frames and other items do not allow me to unlock the Ratio which is very frustrating when trying to make the Element fit my needs correctly.
Can you please tell me how to stretch an image tho?
You can't stretch images in Canva. You can crop, but not stretch. Hopefully that is a future update.
still the ratio button is locked, it's a pro feature sadly..
It should be available for free accounts, too. If you're attempting to resize graphics, proportions will be locked. You won't be able to stretch graphics like you can in photoshop, affinity, design space, and other design programs. One of their limitations.
@@PrettyPartyandCrafty yeah what you did at 1:52 is not free, and that's what i found crazy like a simple thing like that is not in the free version ?
thank uuuu
They need to fix that ratio issue 😡
Straight to the point you said. And then bla, bla, bla
thank you for the engagement and blah blah blah
This was helpful but not because when I changed the height only and it automatically enlarged the width. I should be able to drag from the size to get the size I want. I am so glad I did not spend membership on this program. This program complicates simple. It doesn't alphabetize either. It doesn't do what I want it to do. Takes too damn long to complete one creative page.
Having the ability to stretch in or out/up or down is definitely something that is lacking. However, for more creative control, consider Affinity Photo/Designer or Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator. Affinity is a one time payment, but I think they have a 6 month free trial right now. The only thing is you don't have the built in assets/templates like Canva, but hopefully we'll see an integration between Affinity and Canva soon.
Thank you ma'am. 💝
