1 stamina tonic= 30% hp gives you 28k Gil . and 1 mana tonic= MP 30% gives 34K. tonics are pretty easy to get if you capture monsters when you are a lower lvl. just have Sin and Omega ruins= 19 monsters to get. i have been doing Don because i didnt know about the cactuar. i still have a long way to go. i will give it a shot.
Thank you! Finally someone who realizes that Don Tonberry is too slow compared to this. Not to mention the fact that his Karma move does little damage (therefore gives little EXP) to characters who haven't killed that many mobs. Just a note, though: I found out that having Auto-Haste and spamming Life till your characters' MP run out is also very effective. You don't absolutely need Auto-Phoenix. :)
It's true, you don't need auto-phoenix. It's not hard/expensive to get though and saves me the hassle of actually paying attention to the game for the duration of the fight. Auto-haste has the downside of giving him a lower ratio of turns compared to yours, though really most of the fight's duration is spent watching people get revived. It's a tedious business no matter how it's done.
Nope. False. You can still get a shit ton of AP, even for characters with a very low kill count with the Don Tonberry trick. Get your character with a high kill count (Auron, Tidus and Wakka are the best) and two others, who will have no part in the battle. Put the high kill count character on OD mode Stoic and the other two on Comrade. Equip your AP trick weapons, which include OD --> AP, Triple OD and Triple AP, for each character and start the battle. Attack Don with your killer only. He will get countered with Karma, and now that he has OD mode Stoic on, he will receive Overdrive charge for getting damaged and the OD charge is converted into AP. Same applies for the other two, who have OD mode Comrade on; they will receive OD charge for the killer getting damaged, and the charge is converted into AP, once again. Then, when you flee, all the AP you received in battle is tripled. Thus, everyone gets AP. Know your facts before stating things like this. Sorry if my post is confusing, English isn't my first language.
iDoMiNaTeWorld The problem is Don Tonberry assumes you have someone with a high enough kill count to make it worth the very slight additional effort over the cactuar. Depending on how you've played the game and at what point you start grinding SL it's entirely possible that you won't have anyone capable of being hit for more than about 40 or 50k (as was my highest when I started). Know your facts works in both directions. It's highly situational as to which of the two are faster, for the majority or people directly aiming to kill Dark Aeons the cactuar will be a faster goal. For people doing other things, like all the monster hunting, prior to maxing the grid then the tonberry will be the faster option. It's also much easier to do the cactuar without paying attention, which is a pretty substantial advantage for a lot of people.
Sleepyjo2 You only need 999 kills with a character to get max damage from Don Tonberry, it is incredibly easy to get that many kills with your main characters by the time you're even able to catch a master tonberry. Don Tonberry takes less than 5 minutes to get 3 characters to 99.
Nate Connors It is incredibly easy to hit that, yes. However, most people who are explicitly going for Dark Aeons from the start of the game will not. You can very, very easily unlock the tonberry (and cactuar) well before most characters even have half that number of kills. In fact, I beat Penance before ANY of my characters had even 700 kills. Sure I could have gone back to an earlier area and killed a bunch of weaker mobs, or I could just use the cactuar method and get it over with.
Why do you not have more subscribers and views? Your have tons of helpful, concise content and you have a pretty entertaining narrative to all of your videos. Maybe time will tell? In the meantime, you've got a subscriber to your channel. Loving the FFX/X2 content so far
THIS. He hits for 40k-99k per hit depending on your defense. just remember to flee before his overdrive gauge fills. hit the Save point and repeat. you will actually spend more time clicking around the sphere grid than it takes to get to the AP in the first place, using this method
h man, so much to FFX that I never knew on doing. I got to do all of this to complete it 100%. I only use to play it to beat it, now that I got the remix for the PS4, I'm putting a lot of effort to finish this 100%. I'm barely at Bavelle... FML.
TheNakedRamen Hopefully you haven't been missing any destruction spheres in the temples! I think the most time consuming parts are the monster capturing and trying to get at least 2 people some ribbon armor, depending on if rng likes you or not of course.
once ultima buster is unlocked, i buy clear spheres after getting stat spheres to wipe the crappy 1 and 2 (and 3 if you want to spend that much time) nodes and replace them with 4s
get gillianaire on a character with 2 powerful fighters go to omega ruin. There will be chest spawn if you open and its a mimic. If you kill it while a character with gillianaire at the winning drop you will gain 100k gil. PS: you can also get a chance of stealing Stamina Tonic from Mechea from that same area. For exp Tonberry will hit you 99999 if you killed 999 monster by attacking him every time. But if you are low on enemy kills its kinda cool to steal chocobo wing while getting the exp from a cactuar.
For Double OD, you're going to need Megalixirs. I'm not sure how many you need, but you can get around 20 from Varuna by bribing him for 1.120.000 gil or so. For Triple OD, you need Winning Formulas, which can be bribed from Sand Worm for 900.000 gil. I recommend giving 1 million gil, though, as you'll be more likely to receive more Winning Formulas then. You'll usually get around 14-16 at a time. Triple Overdrive is better for the AP trick than Double OD, though, as it gives you more AP if you have Overdrive --> AP on, which is customized for 10 Doors to Tomorrow. Triple Overdrive will be much, MUCH more costly, but it's far more effective in the long run.
thanks for post this mate but i think in omega ruins i start to farm that raptor with the chest Near him if u cant steel from chest mob come out and with rikkus celestial weapon u have 100k gil per fight and just run Near to save sphere he show up fast on save sphere try it maybe is faster i think but for sure ill try what are u show to us on thins video :)
I have no idea the context but given the video in question I'll assume I meant at the start of the map/an early area (pretty sure I do something with a merchant in an early town for this? I could watch but details)
gonna try this to gain more progress out some sphere grids, my characters are still a little weak even though i'm near the end of the story mode, i do have a question tho. can i flee from the battle at a point and still get ap or do i need to wait for the cacutar to run away
+Daniel Christiansen Tonberry is inarguably better *if* you have someone who will take that much damage and can be bothered paying a minimum amount of attention. I pretty much never kill enough things to take much damage from tonberry enemies and prefer to be incredibly lazy with my grinding, so I stick with the cactus and mashing triangle.
i think you mean distillers. kottos normally drops 40 healing springs. you can use power/mana/speed/ability distillers to turn the healing springs in to spheres (power dist. => power sph. e etc.). be careful though, using a distiller on him will be treated as a physical attack and will trigger his counterattack, so if your characters aren't strong enough to tank his hits, using guard/sentinel or even protect will make things a lot easier (at least this way you won't have to worry about your damage dealers getting knocked out). note that you can only get 1 type of sphere per battle as using multiple distillers will just overwrite the previous one in effect.
+Tyler Jenkins It's harder in the sense that the expert sphere grid doesn't really give you a recommended path to go down for each character. As long as you don't do silly things with your characters the actual game won't be any harder.
Hmm ok. I just thought it might be harder to complete because once you finish your original path, you either start in the middle of someone elses unless you utilize teleports etc. Is teleports the best option or just follow thru pass the level lock? Btw thanks for the quick responds! :)
+Tyler Jenkins Generally save the teleports for specific nodes, like getting multiple people Ultima or whatever really fast (or when you start maxing out stats to get everyone to the same place).
Looks awesome .. Just one question .. How in the world do you get Overdrive->AP customization?? Anybody know? Been searching forums for the answer but that's always on how to get the items to customize.. Not how to unlock the actual customization.
+Raqtor96 10 Doors to Tomorrow customization. It's recommended you get a Triple AP from One Eye at the arena to customize that onto but there are other alternatives if you have poor luck.
+Raqtor96 HOW TO MAKE TripleAP/Overdrive-AP/TripleOverdrive weapons for all characters, so you can fill the sphere grid (easily) and get those pesky achievments, in just a few easy steps: *all must be done after acquiring the airship and able to fly freely* 1) Buy capture weapons and have one with [Initiative] and another with [First Strike] in your active party for absolute best results; you will never be ambushed (besides one encounter) and you have a 25% chance for a preemptive strike every battle, making this go substantially quicker. 2) Here's the long step, stick with it!! Go capture at least 1 monster from every area in the game... And also VERY IMPORTANT capture at least 4 of each One-Eyed flying enemies while you're out doing it. These are: Floating Eye (Mi'ihen Highroad), Buer (Thunder Plains), Evil Eye (Macalania Snowfield), Ahriman (Mt. Gagazet or Inside Sin), and Floating Death(Omega Ruins). Doing this will unlock the two most integral items you need. You get 99x Door To Tomorrow as an unlock along the way, and 99x Winning Formula for unlocking ALL area creations (capturing every monster in the game), and it unlocks the Species-conquer 'One-Eye'. 3) Make sure to consistently sell your loot, you will need a good chunk of Gil in order to make these weapons for all 7 characters. 4) After you've unlocked One-Eye, farm him until you get SEVEN weapons with Triple AP and two other open slots (sell the 1 slotted ones). One for each character. One-Eye is easy to kill, but if you can't do it yourself, summon Anima, or Yojimbo and they'll make short work of him. 5) Now use your 99x Door To Tomorrow to apply "Overdrive - AP" to each of the seven weapons. It only costs 10x per, so you don't ever have to farm these items, there is enough for your whole squad. 6) Take your 99x Winning Formula and apply "Triple Overdrive" to three of the seven weapons. Each time costs 30x, so it leaves you with 9x left. You need a total of 210x Winning Formula to fully customize each character's weapon. 7) One last long part This leaves you 111x Winning Formula to come up with. You can bribe Land Worm on Bikanel Island for 900,000 Gil and get approximately 16x Winning Formula. Do this seven to eight times (depending on how many you get per bribe) and you are done. This is a lot of Gil, 6,300,000 or thereabouts. Just farm One-Eye over and over again; the Triple AP weapons he drops go for around 67k per. With your earlier farming of the ENTIRE GAME, this shouldn't take too unfeasibly long to accomplish. And then you're done! :) Now go follow this video's instructions to let Don Tonberry murder you over and over again and max the sphere grid for 7 people in a few hours. I copied this from Ciowan on a different video. I'm currently on step 7, so i can confirm it's pretty fast and easy.
You only need good stats to do it without Anima. Anima allows you to burn down One-Eye potentially pretty early if you double stack overdrives (one on Yuna and one on Anima itself). Wakka's attack wheels are also pretty good but not nearly as potent for this case, assuming you didn't completely neglect Yuna anyway.
My Yuna is decent. But i got by with Magus Sisters. Anima basically died after one Pain. But i've found getting overdrives every time i wanted to fight One-Eye to be a little time consuming at that particular point of the game. So yeah you're right. it's doable without triple AP. It's just kinda hard to find a starting point to all this. You probably need to grind on cacti or something for a while before you move to One-Eye.
Possibly! I honestly can't remember all the details and the order I did things in back then, I just remember that Anima is commonly used to nuke him down until you have a few people that can take him on normally. Thankfully you don't need triple AP for everyone unless you really want to and once you get one you can spend a little time getting that person up in strength to make getting the rest easier.
The only problem using cactuar king is that he has 10% chance of fleeing just like normal cactuars, only his health does not matter, and if he does flee you don't get anything
He has a tiny chance of fleeing after doing nothing on his turn twice (which is also the same chance). You should have several turns before this occurs unless you are remarkably unlucky. He is the best option if you haven't done a lot of random fights along the way in order to make the Tonberry do enough damage, which is entirely possible if you're going fast.
I used a mix for quartet of 9999 and a stamina tonic to buff my stats, and i made auron sentinel and killed juggernaught until i had the strength i neeeded
***** You are given items after capturing certain sets of monsters, I ran the assumption you are going to capture every monster anyway so didn't specify. This is only relevant after the airship, so just go through every area capturing things.
+Sleepyjo2 getting Anima would be cool. But I think I an so far from being even able to survive dark valefors initial rounds. How strong do you guys think one needs to be. I guess you need one person with over 9999 hit points.
Man you have weapons and items I've never even seen in this game!
1 stamina tonic= 30% hp gives you 28k Gil . and 1 mana tonic= MP 30% gives 34K.

I think killing mimics in the omega dungeon with a gillionaire weapon may be the most efficient way. One Eye is also solid like you mentioned

Where can i grind AP just after defeating yunalesca? Every video hereon youtube are the same. Everyone is already maxed out
Zanarkand and Mt Gagazet are always safe bets. you could also use the airship's map and find the omega ruins
at the start. well, after you get the airship. ... all relative i guess?

***** Not too much further.

Well that will give you more EXP but he may wipe out your whole party giving you no EXP at all so it is best to just haste the Cactuar only.
It worked. Thanks.

can u do this method when u reach the calm for the first time?
Provided you're able to catch the required monsters you can do it, but that's going to be very difficult at that point in the game.
thanks :3
is this Humphrey from suikoden? 😄
Thank you
Do u need over drive to ap
You're abusing things that give a lot of Overdrive, so yea. The normal AP gain isn't any better than just fighting random things.
How did you manage to get so many stamina/Mana tonics? You mention it very briefly in the video I didn't quite understand lol
***** You are given items after capturing certain sets of monsters, I ran the assumption you are going to capture every monster anyway so didn't specify. This is only relevant after the airship, so just go through every area capturing things.
Just go omega ruins and fight mimics easy hill ever get 1Mill in like 15/30 mins
Thanks bro
All these vids say one eye is easy he's mad hard
paulcully93 Use a summon overdrive or two if you're just starting. (Generally Anima)
+Sleepyjo2 getting Anima would be cool. But I think I an so far from being even able to survive dark valefors initial rounds. How strong do you guys think one needs to be. I guess you need one person with over 9999 hit points.
+TitanSilencer To get sisters you need Anima.
He only takes 2 max hits he is easy
This guys says at the start but not till you get the airship that you get almost at that end of the game lol😂😂😂
Atm, as a spiritual teacher on youtube, my life consists of waking people out of mind control, chilling with my wife, and playing ffx 😂
There was this gold sword on the right when you enter the calm lands how do you get it
That's a chocobo feather on the ground. Use a chocobo to jump across to Requiem Temple
