Seeing this as an adult, after having lost my older brother to an accidental suicide, I cry so damn hard. My older brother was everything to me and was always there for me when I needed him. This scene, even as a kid, always messed me up. Because, even though I was younger, I'd do anything to protect my brother. Now with him gone? I miss him more than anything, and putting myself in Jimmy's shoes? BRB . Sobbing
♥
Stop crying weakling and move on.
@@koningkoe nah nah nah not cool man. Saying that only makes you weak.
Wow, I’m so sorry for your loss. A pain you carry forever but hold on to get good memories and ignore rude comments
@@robertbelyea5767 Well lets be honest, an accidental suicide sounds funny as F... Maybe it ends up on the wikipedia page " list of unusual deaths" you should check it out if want to have good laugh.
Your brother died to protect you, Jimmy. He loved you so much.
That's a real brother Wayne deserves my respect

Even the greasers who saw their leader stab him were disgusted.
I like that it shows that they got morality
They never meant to kill him, just bully him for money, north accidentally pushed him into lawson’s knife.
@@captainobvious7165
That was true. They didnt mean to kill him, but they couldn't leave any witnesses alive either.... so they were going to kill his little brother if given the chance.
The greasers will always be evil antagonists, but they are teenagers at the end of the day, they’re just harmless bullies at this point.
The greasers in the book counterpart however had almost no redeeming qualities, prior to Wayne’s death they bullied the two brothers continuously on a daily basis, but when it came to Wayne’s death it wasn’t an accident, they purposely jumped Wayne and repeatedly stabbed him in the groin and the chest. That’s not even the half of it, in the short story they also murdered Sarah.
@@90s-h7l Stephen King has a real thing about that. I can think of two "stabbed in the nads with a switchblade" scenes in SK stories, and I bet there are more
Every thing in this scene is haunting from the visuals to the sounds
In the short story by Stephen King, the Greasers actually die by being electrocuted after running their car into a pole. I think them getting hit by the train in the movie is much more effective.
Agreed
Agreed
Agreed!
I like how they made it an old steam train, accurate or not (though limited steam was still used around this rough time period), and that it's kind of like a form of truth. It always arrives to right the wrong, even if it has to come back as a ghost to do it.
Agreed
The Norfolk And Western Hooter Whistle 😭😭😭
Between this movie, and Christine, growing up.. I've come to absolutely love the Bel Air and 67 Plymouth Fury
I think this car is actually a 1955 Chevy 150. Kinda rare.
@@charlieharper886.. yeah, it basically is. The 210 is also considered to be apart of that line believe
I wanna buy this car
Christine herself is kinda rare these days-- no small thanks to her own starring roll.
1958 actually
The locomotive that kills the Greasers is a Southern Pacific SP-2, 4-10-2-type, built in 1926 by ALCO.
Railfan spotted 👍
The whistle I believe is an Norfolk and Western A Class whistle.
Awesome
It's Southern Pacific 5021
…and why we don’t stand in the gauge and foul tracks…Trainmaster had a lot of paperwork that day.
Carl Mueller seems to be the most human of the gang. At 2:16, He definitely tried to calm down his Buddies.
Just found out the tunnel where this was filmed (in Kansas) is only 2 hours from where I live (Missouri). I'm gonna have to go visit it!
Where at? I live in kansas
0:43 North’s like “Hey kids 🤓”
Some people believe the greasers died the electric shock after the car crash, after the police told them to get out of the car. (Spoliers from the novel)
In this movie, they died from the train crash after they packed their car in the tracks. (Spoliers from this film)
william tao you meant they died Bc they dropped their keys and didn’t know it and couldn’t find them?
@@tobinichols1389 That's pretty true, when they starts panicking until the train driver told them to get off the train tracks.
Was all of them in the greaser gang?
@@joeysmith7635 Yep. Just like the book and film.
@@Willchannel90 wow is any of them brothers?
Bullying had a great impact on the stories of Stephen King, since his first novel, Carrie, and in "Sometimes They Come Back" short story, King highlights this scourge, terrifyingly, tragically, and fantasy (as usual). This TV adaptation was good in my opinion.
Agree
@Daniel Cafarelli true
You Forgot to mention Stand By Me which was based on The Body by Steven King.
@
I have the story collection "Different Seasons, but I haven't read it yet, and I haven't seen the movie yet, so I haven't mentioned the story.
jr yup
That train could have shown up sooner
True
(1991) still watching 2019, Stephen King does the Best Spiritual Horror Movies. Evil & Negativity never prevail in the End in this movie & in reality. 💯⭐👍🏽
Do you not live on planet Earth?
This movie is awesometacular
Sad ending, broke my heart
NOBODY HITS ME AND LIVES MAN!
The scariest danger speech. I'm seriously-when some thug like him takes out knife and begun scare 12 age child, that's really terrifying.
The fact he used a knife on a 12 year old kid makes him look like a coward. After the kid decked him in the jaw, he could have punched him back and that kid would've been knocked out cold. Then the fight would've been over quicker
@@strawberrytree9720 I agree with you.But I don't understand why did he use knife if he could punch him back.
@@yurezsmirktor3546 Right. If he hadn't pulled out his knife the boy and the Greasers would've both left that tunnel alive. That's why they say it's best to just fight like a man
Strawberry Tree the greaser pulled the knife only intended to scare the boy it seems which seems to be a classic stephen king bully move. He got shoved and was stabbed unintentionally hence why they all looked shocked and lawson fearfully saying “he deserved it man”. Now Jimmy was a witness they had to do something to him, but the train ensuing they had to hightail it, but had no key.
There's something about Lawson he has a temper and he's probably said that to other people
I never understood why they tried to stop Mueller from getting out the car instead of getting out with him 🤷♂️
Ride or Die
They were pissed off that Mueller got away so they wanted to take him with them. Mueller didn't die because he had a good heart, and didn't want to hurt them.
I love how they used the hooter whistle for thw train
Happy Birthday to Robert Rusler.9-20-65.Indiana.
He's a really good actor
3:11 thank god the first guy who jumped out of the car had common sense
2:16 I like how Carl was scared-it meant that he had some morality.
Me too
Perhaps this is why he managed to get out of the car just before the train made contact and ran his comrades over, thereby killing them.
At any rate, he seemed to imply that he had lost interest in assisting his buddies in their evil deed on the Norman boys.
He had a conscience
Film only. All the greasers exchange alarmed looks, as if the stabbing were unintentional. In the book it's straight up murder rage.
1:00 - 1:01 I love Vinnie's (Nick Sadler) voice mimic :)
Same lol. The pitch caught me off guard and I laughed
Fun fact: the train in the movie is Southern Pacific 5021 which is not on display at the LA county fair / Rail Giants
3:11 you can see the fake train bouncing around like crazy behind the car 😂😂
That being said, I absolutely love practical effects over cgi even if it looks cheesy.
Here's the thing a real train does do that especially a steam engine
That's southern pacific 5021
That laugh around @1:32 was reminiscent of the joker lol
2:25
this 1 is still a masterpiece. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🇺🇸💯❣️💕💌💞
This reminds me of when I was 13 getting bullied at the park by a few older teenagers and I punched one of them. Only I didnt get knifed. But I got punched out after and woke up 5 minutes later with a soar cheeck bone
Hey good on you. I bet his face hurt a bit too
To be honest, you have gangs that recruit kids. The kids are monsters to the other kids around them. That's what all his novels had elements of.
1:00😂😂😂
3:17 what did they use to make sp 5021's drive wheels move in reverse?
I heard that during the filming of the movie, 5021 was undergoing restoration and couldn't run under its own power. They pushed it using a diesel, as for making the wheels move they probably pumped the boiler full of compressed air to make the wheels move on their own while also having a fire lit in the firebox to make it look like it was running under steam
It’s always greaser bullies that are Stephen King villains
He was bullied by Greasers as a kid.
He was bullied by Greasers as a boy.
I was pleasantly surprised to see a writer protray childhood and adolescent bullying by gang members.
tbh in STCB I had a huge crush on the greasers especially Richard Lawson played by Robert Rusler and vinny played by Nicholas Sadler! 😍😍
Love it i loves the train as well
1963: Normal looking steam locomotive with white smoke, and white light.
1991: Ghost train with still white light but with red smoke and then disappears after the train smashes the car
Dude just ran the opposite direction lol he couldn’t turn around. Just keep sprinting in the opposite direction of the car
That time the boot hits the Rail when the gang got outside of the Car.. chills you knew by that ...Death was around the corner.
This scene takes place in the 1960s but by that time all mainline railroads stopped using steam locomotives.
Shhh don't spoil it with your facts lol
@@stephanies7284 But he isn’t wrong. All Class 1 Railroads retired steam locomotives by this time, so it’s inconsistency on the movie maker’s part.
Bellissimo film 👍
3:15 Did they use a Southern Pacific GS-1 or did they use Southern Pacific 5021?
SP 5021
Does anybody know what kind of hat Jimmy is wearing? Is it supposed to be some kind of handmade thing or is it something you can buy?
I think it's handmade

Y'all do realize it was an accident that the kid got stabbed... He passed him off trying to be funny but accidentally stabbed him. The look on their faces says more than their mouths ever did. Especially the freaking blonds facial expression... Dudes actually one of my first movie crushes 😂😂
When I say funny, yeah they were trying to scare him but not kill the kid... And the little brother actually got them intentionally killed when he threw the keys... HUGE DIFFERENCE YALL... One of my favorites from my childhood..
this movie is so sad those bully ghost won't get to come back their unfinished business was over after their plan failedand didn't go through so now they're destination is HELL PERMANENTLY they've been wondering around grave pits for 27 years for nothing.
I have no idea why they were allowed to return to begin with.
They even killed two more innocent kids to get there, and still failed.
When i die, i'll love to return from hell like them!!! Forever a goddamn maniac rocker from hell!!!
This scene is very dramatic to me every time I see it as it’s like a real life flashback to my childhood. A couple of times as a child I had a few older guys like this come after me as well. Thank God I outrun them as they may have killed me if they caught me or beat me to a pulp
John Travolta played a greaser bad boy in "Carrie" it's a young John Travolta!
1:01
They were the meanest coolest ghost...
They shouldn’t have been hauling all that TNT in the trunk geez!
HEY-KID!!!!
(c) Vinnie Vincent.
Yup
His last name was Corey in the original short. He went by Vinnie "The Viper" Corey.
Wait vinnie Vincent from KISS?
What locomotive is that?!
2:23 I didn't realize the film frames it as an accident. 🤔
Yeah in the original short story ,it wasn't an accident but murder.
In the finale scene viewers thought it was CRR 311
It turns it was a SP 2-10-4
Uh ok
It’s actually a 4-10-2.
SP 5021 with a few modifications
I feel so sad
Out of Lawson's pocket were his car keys which ultimately 😢 sealed his vi your brother loves you he loves you
This was made for TV?
No I hope not
It's a novel turned into a movie and honestly it's a good one. Get your sensitive asses out of here jeeze 😂😂
It was 100% on TV. They adapted a lot of Stephen King's stories to film or miniseries for tv. I vividly remember seeing it on tv at home when it came out when I was 6. The stabbing and red shoes hanging in slow motion stuck in my mind and pit of my stomach for years, until I finally discovered it was this movie. I still can't believe I ever found what movie it was with that faded a memory from childhood.
Ironically, I would always ask "what movie had red shoes with a kid getting stabbed in a tunnel?" and people would say IT or Stand By Me (both Stephen King as well). What's even more ironic, but probably intentional, on King's part, is how this tragic scene stuck in my mind since childhood, haunting me, quite the same as probably why he depicts so many train related incidents in his stories (a loss of a childhood friend to a train accident).
I think that's the same train at the tunnel part but evil
I hope the train driver and the coal man are ok
Same
@@Ethan..473 yes it was
When it comes to “coal man”, you mean Fireman?
why did they always laugh and act like fools

You mean they deserved to get killed themselves, for killing Jim’s brother.
HEEEEEEEEEY KID! 😆
Who do movies make greasers look bad?
I don't know I am a greaser myself and I agree
Greasers were looked down back then, so theu demonize them. Simple as that
What about Grease lol John T played a good greaser
