  • In this video, I replace the fan element in an Ikea oven that is about 7 or 8 years old. This is a relatively easy job but I did run into some problems.
The age and use of the oven will determine just how easy the job will be. This oven is heavily used and as a result, the screws were rusted in and were very difficult to remove.
If you are replacing the fan element for the first time it may be a good idea to test the screws holding the housing (with the power off) to make sure they will release easily.
This video is relevant for most types of fan oven and should be useful, especially if your oven is older than a couple of years. The only difference would be the parts. Some elements are 1900W like this one, others are more. You have to make sure that you order the appropriate part before you start. Ordering the wrong part can cause serious problems.

Element - There are quite a few to choose from on Amazon (amzn.to/2PlCqR8) but I used Ransome Spares in the UK (www.ransomspar...) They made it easy to find the correct part.

Thanks man - I hadn't got a scooby doo about this before watching your vid. First time my element blew on the old electric oven in my flat. I'll try getting the old element out later to see if I can find a serial no to get a replacement. Better that than fork out for a new oven when its 300-500 quid a pop. What a friggin rip off.

Thank you! Really useful video - frankly still above my ability level (I just *know* I'd lose those two wires down the hole!) but useful to see that it is relatively straightforward.

That's the most tricky part. Good to know your limits 👍

I got three of the screws out, needed the screw extractor for the fourth. Good advice, thanks.

Superb video mate. Saved me money from getting an engineer out. Cheers

This looks great. Will troubleshoot my Ikea oven since it works on normal heat (upp and down) but not in hot air mode.

@@handymancraftglasgow Sure did. Ordered a hot air element and changed it. The old one had inifinite Ohms. Thanks for showing how easy it was.

That's great. Always feels good when you fix it yourself 👍

Great video, thank you! Having taken all covers off and got to the element, when I took it off there was just one wire attached to it. I presume they all have two wires so is there a fairly straightforward way of recovering the wire?

Hey, my IKEA oven won't even switch on any more (usually in most ovens if the element blew, it'd still turn on/light come on) but it's completely dead. Is it still likely to be the element or has something else gone pop do you think? It's under warranty, it's just it'd be handy if I could fix it today!

Sounds like something else is at fault. Our oven worked perfectly, just didn't heat up. You have a different problem. Good it's still under warranty 👍

Gave up watching this video. Most of it was in darkness and/or out of focus. Maybe put a work light in the oven at the start?

Good Advice. Its a tricky set up with tools, lights, camera and myself all in the oven - its a squeeze 😄
