    I'm quite struck by young people who say they wished that they grew up back then - I'm really very impressed. They seem to understand the simpler times and how it made for nicer times! Very nice to see!!!

    I don't know why but it hurts my heart when I realize almost 65% of people back then already...uh..pass away.
    And I wish kids these day would play stuffs like this rather than phone and laptop.

    • @CosmoShidan
      @CosmoShidan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Some of those toys such as dump trucks and toy cars would be seen as okay for kids today (just as long as girls are included), but playing as an indigenous culture or gunslingers would not fly.

    • @CosmoShidan
      @CosmoShidan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@skymaster1221 More like, when you insult an entire minoritized, racial and cultural group of people, that creates problems. To illustrate to portray Black men as rapists, murderers and thieves because they are naturally like that is a harmful stereotype because it dehumanizes them and makes them and otherizes them. This ignores the fact that due to a lack of jobs or proper housing given to African-Americans is why they would do this, and being brought up in a male dominated household.
      Then you have the exoticizing of Chinese dragons which appear to be strange to white folk, while ignoring that dragons appear in European culture as well.

    The last commercial was a December 1955 tie-in for Colgate-Palmolive's "Fab" detergent; at the time, Bess Myerson appeared on Colgate's daily game show "THE BIG PAYOFF" (with host Randy Merriman) as model and spokeswoman for the sponsor's products. This ad originally appeared during NBC's Sunday night "COLGATE VARIETY HOUR" {Wendell Niles, announcer}.

    We didn't have much toy wise due to finances as kids and had to use our imagination but I always loved to see the commercials. Some toys my Mom wouldn't approve of and they governed how much and what we watched so I didn't see all of these. Miss those days.

    The "Vrroom Construction Equipment" toys were probably as loud as the real equipment they were modeled after. Somehow I think the "not included" D batteries disappeared from all these about five minutes after the kids first switched them on.

    Remember Kaboom it was a sound wave generator turned into a hand held weapon, we had three of them one Christmas drove the folks absolutely nuts in about five minutes, they were loud and I'm sure lots of hearing loss was caused by them. 65-66 maybe? I had a dart gun that could chamber a sharpened pencil and could go through two dry wall, walls and into another room. I also had a thing called a burp gun, it was a fake machine gun, made a pretty loud chatter, scared the shit out of the Gangsters. I had two cap guns that I remember as being as big as a real pistol, and back then caps were loud too. They were getting us ready for war, 😂, they are still getting kids ready for war, just with playstation instead of plastic guns.

An alien kid (not too alien-looking, just enough to show this off) was living with an Earth family, and the Human kid showed him how impressive Earth tech was with the toys they were adverting. I was born in 63. Speaking of guns I remember the all metal colt 45's in the western holters with the winchester rifles. I also remember back in the early or mid 70s of a snub nosed all metal 38 special cap gun that used the individual plastic caps that resembled cartridges. The gun was made by a company called Wasp I think. I remember it had a wasp on the side of the grip. Anyway you could hardly tell it from a real 38 snubbie. Wish I still had it. Those kinds of toys are gone forever.

    The little girl on the Maverick commercial looks like Patty McCormick from the movie "The Bad Seed".

    In the Evel Knievel bike ad, the voice-over is by Jackson Beck, who voiced Bluto/Brutus in the Popeye cartoons, 1945-1961.
