what an impressive Fluval 13.5 mate probably the best ive seen so far! Im looking to get started in reef tanks from doing freshwater Corey. I know this was 4 years ago but mate, it looks incredible. Great inspiration pal.
You’ve given me confidence to get my confused head back to basics - thank you. I have zero marine aq experience, haven’t even got my tank yet and I’ve already been mentally buying upgrades because of watching 100s of TH-cam videos telling me the stock parts aren’t much good!
I went into the evo thinking its perfect out the box. I was wrong. No matter what upgrades you put in, START with the filter tower and plug for the hole. The foam block in the center is such a stupid design. The little vents in the plastic get clogged, chamber one fills with gunk, and water flows straight pass the carbon/bio media. I have tower in 1, refugium in slot 2, and pump/heater in slot three.
Great job as always chief. Mine is running great as well even though I upgraded the filtering to two intanks in chamber 1&2. I love these little nano tanks
Nice and simple. Great desk top reef tank. Wait another year of two. Will look even better. A few small gobies would be with the keeping of these plans. A crab, hermit, a few nerite and nassarius snails and you’ve got it.
New sub here; came by after visiting your tank via the other channel . Great tank. Setting up 3 nanos right now myself, two of which will be salt. TFS and will follow you closely👌
Just got the evo 13.5. Added live sand and made sea water with coral life Biocube sea salt. How long does it take for the tank to cycle until you can add fish and corals?
OMG !! It looks amazing I will take some of your methods, you say you make 50 water changes every week that you did even having the skimmer??? I changed the cycle of my light with two hours of blue light to see if the diatom algae disappeared. I love you tank😍
Hi, what pump are you using? I have just bought the same tank off somebody but the pump is very noisy, any tips of decent pump and connections if yours runs relatively silent?
Thank you for the series on the Evo 13.5. I just purchased the tank and will use your approach for setting it up. I like your rockwork too. Is it several pieces that you glued together in the shape of a bridge and caves, etc. or did you luck out and find a cool piece of live rock?
Hi! I am thinking of buying that same aquarium, but what really worries me is the noise, because I am going to have it in my bedroom, does the skimmer or the movement pump make a lot of noise? Does the light have a separate cable to plug in a light timer?
I just ordered the Fluval 13.5; does the standard light that comes with it provide the high density needed for the reef? Or do I need invest in something stronger?
Hi Corey, I have the same tank with 2 clownfish, 1 midas blennie 2 crabs and 2 snails and am having issues with nitrates and phosphates. I use RODI water and change 20 litres of water each week. I feed the fish brine shrimp every other day. Never had an algae issue (green) but after the diatom phase I started getting algae covering my rock in around 3 - 4 weeks. no algae on glass. Have tried phosguard and de-nitrate with no success. LFS suggested that I could add some corals to absorb some of the nitrate. I only turn on the lights for a few hours each day and appreciate that having corals would need more light time. Any ideas on what to try next? thanks in advance!
Hey buddy, do you have a Twitter account? I’m new to this hobby, I’m used to tropical aquariums and could really use some advice if you wouldn’t mind:)

You have a beautifully simple tank that looks beautiful as well!! Thank you Jim Fisher.
Beautiful tank, Corey! Your diligence in tank maintenance is paying off.
😁👍👍 thanks!

Thanks for the support dude!👍😁
From my experience the hermits just end up killing each other to find the perfect shell, no shade btw :)
Tank looks amazing. Keep up the great work.
Thanks dude! 😁👍👍

Low nutrient tanks tend to lack color in corals
Looking very good, stable and spotlessly clean.
I know right 😁👍 thanks for the support
Your tank look beautiful 👌👌👌
Great video. Keep up the good work
😁😁😁
Very nice sometimes the nitrates go low and then spike with light temp and how many fish you have and how you feed
It does not need skimmer. Just waterchanges...
Yeah it seems to be working great 👍😁

how you found surface skimming without the grid attached ?
Hi we’re did you get your magnet glass cleaner from please 🙏🏼 love your videos dude
Hey, I have a fluval evo 13.5 and fluval marine 3.0 light! What percentages of light and hours do you recommend for the settings?
Hi, what pump are you using? I have just bought the same tank off somebody but the pump is very noisy, any tips of decent pump and connections if yours runs relatively silent?
Hi Corey, what lighting source are you using? About to get the Evo 13.5, come across your videos several times. Are you using stock lighting?
Yes, stock light.
Thank you for the series on the Evo 13.5. I just purchased the tank and will use your approach for setting it up. I like your rockwork too. Is it several pieces that you glued together in the shape of a bridge and caves, etc. or did you luck out and find a cool piece of live rock?
Its multiple pieces of rock placed together, not glued

I turn the skimmer off at night but it's not that loud and a light can be plugged into a timer
Thanks so much!!
Well done!
I need help w the wavemaker placement! how would you know the perfect place for it??
I just ordered the Fluval 13.5; does the standard light that comes with it provide the high density needed for the reef? Or do I need invest in something stronger?
Its definitely enough for Soft and LPS corals but SPS not too sure yet your gonna have to try it closer to the light
@@coreywillard9250 thanks. Also did I hear you say no skimmer on ur tank? If so why not? The filtration that comes with it that efficient?
How do they sleep with the waves blowing them around all the time? Is that something you turn off at some point?
How many kg of rock do you have?
Hey can you tell me what sep up it is on your wall and what is for please
What exactly is the coral that looks like cauliflower with delicate rose like flowers?
any way you can describe it differently
@@coreywillard9250 The flowing one the bottom clown swims in front of at the beginning. Looks to be the largest in the tank.
