The fact that Muta voted for Venba unknowing that it’s a game about an Indian mom who moves to Canada is genuinely pretty poetic.
I played it recently and it was such a touching story and cool cooking game. Kind of hoping Muta plays it on stream or something!
And he said it reminded him of his mom
Aww that's really sweet.
they don't move to canada, they invade canada.

Destiny 2 being nominated for best community support while 2 weeks ago bungie laid off like 50 people is wild
💀💀💀💀 🥂
Most of which were the Community team, I believe
And they were the whole community portion tf???? Smh
And no one liked the last expansion
When I saw it get nominated for “best community support.” I was dying out of laughter.
Muta choosing hello kitty as best mobile game because he plays it with his wife is the most adorable thing ever. Love him
Yess this lol

I chose it just for the lulz
As much as I love watching Game Awards, I think there should also be the "Razziez" for videogames too cause there's been a whole lot of crap this year as well. Here are some possible categories;
1. The Worst Game of the Year Award
2. The Worst Optimised Game at Launch Award
3. The Worst PC/Console Port Award
4. The Most Predatory MTXs Award
5. The Worst VA/Performance in Gaming Award
6. The Worst Publisher Award
7. The Worst Game Dev Award
8. The Most Outdated Graphics Award
9. The Worst Controls in a Videogame Award
10. The Most Toxic Community in a Multiplayer Game Award
11. The Worst Performing E-Sports Team Award
12. The Worst Gaming Content Creator Award
Feel free to add your own categories.
The Biggest Letdown for games that overpromise and fail to deliver, and also honorable mention Most Overhyped for games that just got too popular before release and failed to live up to community expectations
This is an excellent idea
Most games suck. There's like 7 good games total, since the beginning of game making. Games just suck by and large. Just like movies and TV, most is corporate sludge to sell or twist your mental nipples, not to be a magnum opus Creation.
wouldn't that be Libel
Oh I'd love to see that lol. Actually way more entertaining because of how much crap companies make nowadays compared to the crumb of actual goodness.
I’m devastated that Kong Skull island and Gollum aren’t included in the game of the year category.
A true masterpiece like Kong Island doesn't need to be nominated for some peasent award
@@masonban1favourite line in Kong Skull Island was when Kong said: “I’m the king of the monkeys.”
The real winner should be Gem Defender: Soyjack Survivors. Yes it’s real game on Steam
@@DOOMStudios my favorite part of Kong Skull Island is when King Kong says “It’s Kongin’ time!” and Konged all over the place.
Kong skull Island is too good for any game award show
The funniest shit to me is that Hogwarts was nominated last year as one of 2023’s Most Anticipated Game, only to not get nominated for a single award this year.
Even Lies Of P, a AA game by a studio nobody's heard about on their second game ever, got nominated at least twice. Hogwarts should've been a slam dunk for WB. Don't know what happened there.
@@courier6640 The controversy surrounding Hogwarts is probably the only reason
@@siegeart2555 nobody cares about hogwarts lmao, I have not seen a single person talk about it in months
I'm almost willing to bet it's because of the controversy surrounding the game...there were people saying that if you bought the game you were transphobic.
@@courier6640Don’t know? Dawg the whole woke culture was acting like WB was funding Hitler and his death camps. When in reality JK Rowling sold the game rights to WB. Muta’s take on D4 deserving of Innovation in Accessibility is so based and hilarious I legit used my entire belly to laugh, I can’t
True but you kind of do have to be based on video games. It’s important you pick what you really like. I think because it’s just hobbies.
The funny thing about Dave the Diver being an option is that the game isn't independent. Its not even supposed to be on the list.

The sheer amount of bug fixes in Baldur's Gate 3 patches deserves that award for community support. They also listen to their community and added some stuff people really wanted like post creation character customization and ways to work around party members not being available when you're playing.
It’s the sheer turnaround of phantom liberty and the overhaul to AI that just blew everything else tf out. Otherwise yeah it would’ve snagged that award too
really hope they keep some of the goofy ass bugs though 😭😭
took a hard time in this category since they all deserve it, but we all know it ain't DS2
@@LudwigHorsecockthe thing with Phantom Liberty is that it’s hard to say whether they did it to make up for the CP2077 launch disaster or if that’s what they wanted to put out all along. Armoured core 6 was a great action game you should try it, honestly surprised that it didn't shown in music. "Contact with you" goes hard
It was mehr for armored core fans because they changed most of the core mechanics. Its only armoured core in visuals
@@theblackbaron4119 forgetting that between the original AC and now so many game mechanics, plot points and timelines have changed to the point you can't call yourself an armored core fan unless you accept the franchise for what it was when you first played and what it is now. Yeah it feels like either they're out of touch, or trying to change the word "Indie" from a categorization to just a genre of game. I hope it's the former as the latter makes it sound like they are trying to oversaturate the indie market with their half-baked AAA titles so they can pass it off as an "Early Access" product.
Mutha playing a Hello Kitty game with his wife is both hilarious and wholesome.
Muta and his wife have great taste with these games.

I think SF6 has a chance for the accessibility category. That game added a ton of features to help people who are blind, color blind, and I think maybe people with deafness as well? Huge innovations to help people with disabilities that otherwise just can't really play.
Same bro, and for the fighting game genre which has been much harder for people to get into it's amazing to see those kinds of features put in.
Street fighter 6 is less fun than mk1, but it's much easier to pick up.

BG3 was one of the best gaming experiences with friends I’ve had in the last 10 years. The only competitor was Valheim, so many good memories with friends on that one too

imo they want Nintendo to win that one.. every game has a single composer attached to it but Zelda has "Nintendo sound TEAM"... If they included PotF and the chapter ending songs and not just Petri Alanko it would win 100%
BG3 and RE4 are my contenders for sure. RE4 had me grinning ear to ear almost the whole time, i literally felt like a kid again. BG3 on the other hand ive put almost 400 hrs in and yet to have beaten it because i just keep restarting and ended up tinkering with mods.

Considering the amount of remakes that have recently come out, I would've liked for them to have a "best remake/remaster" category for this year's Game Awards.
Thats the thing. 2023 is a banger of a year. So many quality games. To the point that the game awards actually has competition in a lot of categories. This was a great year for gaming and im still working on half the games that came out this year 😅.

HOWEVER I was absolutely blown away how much fun the combat is???? the amount of planning that goes into attempting to beat a boss and watching your plans go perfectly and smoothly is so amazing, but in reality most of the time you'll fumble the plan and you'll forget about something and end up domino effecting the whole expected outcome.

I really think sf6 should win the Innovation in Accessibilty Award since literal blind people can play the game now. I know some crazies already did it before capcom added sound queues into the game, but now it's an official feature.
that's not really accessibility though, is it?
yes letting a blind person play certainly allows a new person to play but like, less than a fraction of a percentage of a sliver of the entire human race is gonna benefit from being able to play SF6 blind.
I'd be shocked if more than a single person in the world played SF6 naturally blind.
gimmick, not accessibility
it would be like hooking your dog up to Do om eternal
@@user-xz6qc5ej2r The literal definition of Accessibility is to provide access for players with disabilities or lack of specific ability. I'm afraid you didnt understand the mission, unfortunately.
@@user-xz6qc5ej2r Lack of abilities range from not having good enough reflex response to literal blindness, by the way.
It's basically inclusivity for absolutely everyone and anyone.
@@user-xz6qc5ej2r” it would be like hooking your dog up to doom eternal.”
For your own safety I would advise against saying that outside the internet.
@@st.lucient4755everyone talking accessibility, but what about properly relaying creators vision? Same as painting, or music, or writing, or many other things - videogames are art. Is it an issue if I can't see the painting properly, should it be redrawn? Should the melody then be composed differently due to my aging hearing, or a book rewritten because I can't grasp all the twists?
In case of videogames, as they be challenges made to be overcome, they can happen to involve a lot of various interactions to properly experience them. So, if you then diminish their challenge, it will also warp the creators vision behind all of it - because overcoming the struggle presented is the whole point.
Take dark souls, you know how many people would love an easier difficulty? Or a "slow-mode"? Yet it has none, because it was made and can be legitimately completed only as it was envisioned.
Granted, some games are a lot harder if not outright impossible for people with specific disabilities, but I just don't think it should be more important than overall experience still being the envisioned one by the creator.

And when they made it, I mean Larian Studios got big off of Divinity 2, but not so big that they had the resources to be able to make a game that redefines what a AAA game should be kind of big. What they pulled off is insane. If there is a best studio award, they should get it

I voted BG3 for music. So many times while I was playing it I just stopped and listened to the music especially those rare times when a song that you've heard before is played in certain situations but with lyrics. Rapheal's theme though is definitely one of the best of it.
I voted for TOTK in that but BG3 is my GOTY pick so I kind of made up for that with voting it as GOTY... Zelda is my second best game of the year though  BOTW was sentimental to me so TOTK has a lot of value
Raphael's Final Act is an absolute banger. Second only to Weeping Dawn imo.
Yeah, I thought about picking say Zelda, but I realized that while I could hardly remember any specific songs in TOTK, I could still hum a lot of songs from BG3 even though I haven't actually sat down and played it in like two months... Although I haven't played FFXVI yet so it might've taken my vote if I had gotten around to it before.
Oh my god same. The way I stopped fighting as soon as I heard the Raphael theme song. The way he then one shot my team too. All perfectly timed. That was one of the most unforgettable moments for me.

Chants of Sennaar is legitimately groundbreaking, it makes you feel like an archaeologist trying to decrypt ancient manuscripts, but you're there. Probably the best thing in that game logic discovery niche since tunic, and that's not an old game, but still.

Baldurs gate is one of the best games I’ve ever played ever. I enjoyed the narrative better than any Bethesda game, so much depth.
I loved your playthrough of RE4, I was sick and had nothing to watch, so I binged 12 hours in 3 days. It took me to the good old days of watching your SWAT 4 gameplay.
8:09 I feel like Age of Empires 2 deserves to at least be a nominee for best community support. It still reaches top 100 (today it sits at 60th) most played games of the day on steam alone and recently it also got another expansion. The game is part of a more niche genre (compared to shooters) and it isn't free so the fact that the community is still thriving over 25 years later is amazing to me.
For sure. It should probably win too considering the support has not just been over just a few months or even a few years; the game has had a smaller esports scene forever and since DE has been getting new content and full expansions that both fit in with yet improve upon the original release. I don’t know of another game - especially an RTS - that has been getting as much consistent support.

Gonna be 110% honest and it's probably a scalding hot take, but, I don't believe remakes should be winning any awards except an award for best remake. Like bro, you just remade an already made game. Why do you honestly deserve a award for rehashing it?
Yeah ngl the 2023 backlog is so ridiculously big that I wouldn't mind if they celebrated the game awards like in june next year so that I actually get a chance to go through them all.
Honestly, maybe you do need to be into platformers to see it and feel this way, but for me Mario Wonder was astounding on many levels and deserves to be with the big dogs at the top. It’s at least my pick for Art Direction. The animation on the characters and vibrant color palette just add so much to the already really impressive game design.

The best parts of this video are easily Muta seething over all of the nominations that Mario Wonder has rightfully earned. It was VERY satisfying and entertaining!
Keep up the great malding, Muta!
The fact that Dave the diver is in the indie section is actually a massive insult. The game was basically made by Nexon Studios they just opened a new studio for it really.
Cyberpunk doesn't deserve to be in the list for on going support. Fixing your single player game to be functional in it's 1.0 parts plus it's dlc doesn't mean you gave great ongoing support it just means CDPR finally fixed their game after three years and made a banging dlc. Halo Infinite got snubbed out that slot for a game whose genre doesn't even fit the category.

@@Xeno911 true, The Game Awards has a bias against bad games such as Starfish
I love altering my perception of Muta based on the games he chooses for GOTY Awards 🤭❤ /s
You cannot not vote Hades 2 for most anticipated. Damn gem brewing there.
No
Damn, the disrespect for my boi Mario 😭
Mario couch co-op is ridiculously fun
@@BlackjackK7Xyes it is
Any couch co-op game is ridiculously fun. Couch co-op is just fun no matter what.
@@erbz yes it is
N fanboy
@@enkheebaatarlmfao he literally just said it’s a fun game, you’re obviously the manchild console warrior here 💀
I agree with every votes you did Muta, because I haven't even played Every single one of those games.
One of my managers at work bought Baldur's Gate III, ultimately telling me that it's that damn good of a game! I ended up purchasing Lies of P, which I'm happy to see will be competing for The Game Award (TGA)'s category in Best Art Direction. Baldur's Gate looks and sounds like it's going to crush all the competition come Dec. 7th.
I know theres a ton of discussion about remakes being nominated but Dead Space was such a polished and subtly transformative remake in how it uses backtracking and the ssds on new consoles that it deserves to be in the convo for GotY. I loved it.
Dead Space Remake and Resident Evil 4 are the best remakes of this year. But Dead Space Remake is so good.
No. Tranz trash is evil.
Dead Space is my goty it was so good.
There needs to be a best remake category, bc something about it being a remake slightly pushes me away from giving it the vote bc it builds off of what’s already there and I feel like that the mere fact that it’s a remake hinders it when it DESERVES something for being as incredible as it is
@LudwigHorsecock 100%. Dead Space, RE4 and Metroid Prime Remastered were unironically the most fun I had gaming this year.
Idris is amazing, but I have to give the best actor to Neil Newbon. It's probably because he's not as recognizable as Idris and the fact that the awards didn't specify on the name of the character they voiced. But yes, Neil is actually Astarion's actor in Baldur's Gate 3. Idris performance may be a spectacle but Neil outright gives life to a character that is so complex as Astarion. I think that in itself is a monumental achievement worthy of an award
Hard agree. Astarion will go down in history as one of the most iconic, well written videogame companions of all time. Sure Elba's performance was good but years from now we will still be seeing Astarion cosplays, memes, comics and references the same way we did with some of Mass Effect's companions.
Neil did a lot for BG3. Besides voicing and mocap Astarion, he also mocaps other characters in the game. In addition, there are Meme, Cosplay, Artwork, various things of Astarion all over social media. Everything happened because of Neil Performance. It's Neil's time. He deserves it!
he just sounds like stewie griffin to me
Nah Yuri for the win
As soon as I read ‘Astarion’ I was in. BRB voting.
I picked Motorfest for Best Sports/Racing. The Grand Race 28-PVP is unmatched in the arcade racing scene with seamless netcode, and is almost worth the $70 alone. if you know the chaos, then you know.
Gaming is far from dead. There were tons of quality games that didn't even make the list. I think when people say "gaming is dead" they really mean that the 3 big companies making games aren't the best anymore.
Adding to that, people usually say it because the specific franchises and genres they personally like aren't given full-frontal attention.
The fact that Armored Core isn't nominated is a travesty
Was the only AAA game I had any interest in next to FFXVI.
So facts. I played totk and hi fi rush this year but ac6 takes the cake as my game of the year
10:43
Armored core nerds only watch shorts lol, couldn’t even imagine having a mission longer than 5 minutes
@@bonkgameing That's best action game, not game of the year
Hades 2 is my most anticipated game, Supergiant never disappoints
Yakuza for me, why hades was absolutely amazing i dont think i want hades 2 i rather them dive into other myth or characters still gonna play shit out of it.
Baldur's Gate 3 really gave me a bit of hope back for the future of gaming. They didn't just shovel out another half-assed "remake" or fart out another subpar yearly entry to a franchise that feels long dead. It was actually fun, complete, playable at launch, and left me excited in a way AAA games haven't in a long time.
You know the video is good when Mutahar starts it with the 'I'm in your walls' face
gotta remind people its all just giant ad show, no real celebration. we just tune in to see what's comin out
How was Hollow Knight Silksong not nominated for most anticipated game. We’ve waited for that for so long and the hype’s still going
Most have obviously forgotten about it. It's vaporware at this point
@@iHaveTheDocumentsnot really. It was trending for 2 days because of an indie direct from Nintendo with people hoping Silksong will be shown and then started trending again when it wasn’t shown
And I think it's made on Unity until unity shot their feet and ruined everything. So who knows, they might stick to unity or switch engines, causing another wait.
@@milkinobama8160 then how can it be most anticipated when nobody knows when how development is going or if it is even coming out
Probably because of what happened with Unity, can't be 1000% sure anymore that the game will come come out when that bomb went off. I don't think the developers would throw away their effort though but it's very very tedious to switch engine (if they do plan on switching)
The best part of this video was muts constantly sitting on mario
Alan Wake 2 is my goty, its such a strange story but was so fun and engaging to go through. Even after playing BG3 and TOTK, it is still my goty. BG3 is probably going to win tho and I wouldn't mind it.
The fact Armored core is barely mentioned is wild
Guess mech is simply too niche for the masses no matter how good it is. For me personally, I haven’t touch anything else since that game came out, no joke.
@@apophisstr6719 I did manage to stop playing.....after I 100% the game and went on a killing spree online with proper builds and eventually doing amazing even with meme builds.
It's so much fun, but filters gonna filter I guess
I was hoping to at least see it be nominated for audio design and soundtrack too...
But nonetheless it's the most satisfying gaming experience I've picked up in years. Something new happens every time I turn it on to play it and it's a magnificent feeling.
For me it's my personal GOTY and at least seeing it get nominated for a pretty big category is enough to make me happy!
@aloafofbagels6381 100% my personal GOTY, sure spiderman and starfield were OK but Armored Core was just....so FUN I haven't enjoyed a game as exhilarating as this in ages
Real. One of the only games I was actually excited to newgame++, so far, im just finding the time to finish S ranking all the missions
Mario wonder deserves direction just for the fact that they gave the devs no deadline and let them go crazy
its literally "let them cook" the game. Blew me away lol.
muta really got me with that kubricks stare at the beginning there 😆
I hate how racing games don't get a separate category. Instead they are competing with FC 24 and don't stand a chance at winning.
Ben Stars performance in 16 literally blew me away.
Jedi survivor deserves a bit more love. Even as casual enjoyer of star wars thay game was amazing
A shame it was held back the awful performance on release. Could have been GOTY material.
@@Rubenz343 still is in my eyes. Partly because I haven't played as much new games as others
Idk that dead space audio is amazing I remember when Isaac starts to go more insane from the marker youd start hearing things like banging on doors but nothing is there, whispers in your ear, the sound of the ship making some crazy noises to just get you tensed up. Game had amazing audio.
I love how there wasn't GTA 6 in the most anticipated games list cause they didn't even have any artwork to display for it.
