I can also see how Jack himself might want to distance himself from his jokester side, seeing how he at one point was the "sus guy". However, I believe he could have found some way to blend the serious with the not so serious. Just look at Wayne, that man has bars on bars on bars and a lot of them are funny as fuck when you think about it.

What’s Poppin, Tyler Herro, Way Out, Nail Tech, SUVs Black on Black, First Class, all of these hit Pretty hard and are the things he pushed as singles. But even if I didn’t think his last two album were that bad, there is just nothing special about them at all which I think sucks. I got a collective 4 songs out of both albums that weren’t singles (Route 66, Crème, Dua Lipa, and State Fair) and I still don’t think any of them are as good as the singles. I like the dude and it’s for that reason the lack of interest I have in his albums is really disappointing.
I agree that he can sound monotone. In his Hot Ones episode, he said he had to find a better rap voice because of how nasally he sounded. He came across an Andre 3000 interview where 3k said just start by talking your lyrics and I think he’s just stuck to that formula ever since

Songs like “keep it light”, “Baxter avenue” and “Route 66” all treated me with late night vibes as I walked home. Along it came with a couple simple tracks that provided a more hype feeling such as “face of my city”, and “Tyler Herro” I believe this album was all meshed together pretty well and is a solid 9/10 project. Come home the kids miss you however did miss my expectations but I think it was overhated and is a 5/10

Objectively speaking he has better delivery and generally more originality and talent than most rappers. You pretty much hit it on the head. Found Dark Knight sometime in 2017/18 and have slowly watched my excitement rise with each new release to being bored to tears with each project since. CHTKMY is so boring, it's like they sucked all of the enthusiasm that you could hear in his older music. It's such a shame, I saw him in a small Nightclub in Calgary right around when he released Confetti and the energy was great. Hope to see some of that come back in future projects but I'm not going to get my hopes up
