  • In this blind bourbon taste test, we put four popular bourbons to the test to see which one comes out on top. We blind tasted Old Crow Bourbon from ‪@jimbeam‬, Benchmark Bourbon and Ancient Age Bourbon from ‪@BuffaloTraceDistillery‬, and ‪@heavenhilldistillery7130‬'s Heaven Hill Quality House Bourbon, all of which are 3 years old, 80 proof, and cost around $10.

    Old Crow is just 3 year old Jim Beam. But it is very tasty and drinkable and affordable. Ancient Age is also delicious.

    I liked Quality House. Reminds me of a weaker Evan Williams and a cheaper Evan Williams. So that’s a win for me

    These are some of the best whisky reviews on TH-cam. I'd love to see you do a Best Single or Blended Malt under $35 Challenge ✌️

      We have enough single malts. Just have to find time. Our next brawl is going to be Blended Irish.
      Oddly, not enough blended malt scotches. Just the Shackleton.

      @@ThriftyWhiskey Yes, there aren't many around that price point; maybe Monkey Shoulder or Naked Grouse.

      @ThriftyWhiskey  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. Monkey Should and Naked Grouse are the closest, though usually outside our price range when I see them. Its been awhile since I have seen Naked Grouse too.

      @@ThriftyWhiskey If you have access to a Total Wine and More, it might be interesting to see a blind tasting between their offerings vs. the name brand equivalents.

      @@MrChristopherMolloy I have had the same thought. PA is completely state controlled. All of the stores here are owned by the state. You work in a liquor store, you work for the government. They have a monopoly here. So if I want to go to a Total Wine, I have to head down to Kentucky which is the closest one to Pittsburgh.

    Though Ancient age might win this. Great blind.

    I like Ancient Age. Inexpensive and mixable with nice taste. Made with the same mash as Blantons and from the same company too-Sazerac/Buffalo Trace 😊 Benchmark is harsh to me

    Honestly, I'm not surprised. I oscillate between Old Crow and Old Taylor as a mixer, but I think Old Crow has the more standard bourbon notes that people are looking for vs. OT which is a little bit smoother and more herbal to my palate.

    Id rather buy old crow over becnmark,and Evan williams. And old crow is almost half the price. I like old crow mainly cus it's cheaper but still has all the qualities I want"a real bourbon" Cheap good bourbon is the best. And I Iv never tried ancient age the store never has those bottles, iv Ben wanting to try ancient age but always sold out. Old crow has Ben my go to for like the last 2 months

    Can you guys get "Silk Tassle"? Or Alberta brands? Or Wisers 23/35, Canadian Club 20, or Gibsons 12 year? They are all pretty cheap up here.

      My thought was that we go over the whiskeys in the A to D, but developer mystery. When we do D to A, I say which is which so that everyone gets a peak now at the results. And then we do the results.
      This is the format I have taken from It's Bourbon Night.
      BUT! Perhaps we could list which glass is which in the description if you want to "Drink with Us"

    • @TzuDevil
      @TzuDevil ปีที่แล้ว

      @Thrifty Whiskey I figured as much, and it does make sense. However I have found myself fast forwarding past the A to D, then watching the D to A, then sometimes going back to the A to D to see reactions, then back and forth when I forget which is which.
      Compare that to your single reviews where I know exactly what it is up front and get to enjoy how the three of you tackle the analysis together. I watch every second of those videos.
      You should be able to confirm if this is just "some guys opinion" by looking at your individual video analytics. If there is a difference in when people stop watching, or % watched etc, the facts will be there.

    When I've had Old Crow, the Beam "peanut" comes across as "barnyard hay and manure" and I find it undrinkable - Jim Beam White is fine, but I can't stand Old Crow... I have a similar issue with Rebel Yell (smelling and tasting of barnyard), and I find a bitterness in Makers Mark that nobody else picks up and can't drink that either (unless mixed). Of course, I like Benchmark (marginally better vs AA) and most Heaven Hill budget sippers (Henry McKenna, JTS Brown, Evan Williams).

    Lastly.... I can get you some Saskatchewan only Whiskys.... they are pretty harsh, even for a Canadian.... would you so a show on those if I could get them to you? Note... a couple are worse than you could imagine. Note: I know you only do bottom shelf stuff.

      @Thrifty Whiskey Gotcha... don't get me wrong, you have a great thing in a real Niche, and to be honest, having strong opinions are not just good, they are required. What I'm talking about is more like balance. Ie if someone has a harsh reaction, then between the other 2, finding a counter to it from the perspective of representing someone who loves that bottle will really help make it more watchable when your favorite whiskies are on display.
