I have the three diamonds and the 1000km badge, all done in a pure glider, no cheating with the back up of an engine. The best memory is my first 50km silver distance 🙏🏻🙏🏾🍾 So congrats 👍🏻👍🏾
Congratulations . I made my first cross country 50 km in a Ka8 but my first triangle in a Ka6 cr then a bought a Ka6 E . Great sailplanes , I have only good memories of those planes even if it was sometimes hard against the wind .
From an old timer 3K hour, 3D and 1000K dipl GP very well done and fantastic to see a genuine K6 achieving a pre declared 50K silver badge and height gain. I did all my flights up to Gold C in wooden gliders such as the K6E and K8 with Instamatic cameras, smoked barographs and no GPS. Again well done....as someone said before having to stay at 2K for so long makes it even harder....
Reminds me of my first 50km cross country, from Challock to Ringmer. No GPS back then, so it was all map and compass. I landed at Ringmer, got my paperwork witnessed and signed to confirm that I had completed the flight, and then took a winch launch and flew back to Challock. All done in a Ka8.
Congratulations once more Sam. I would not have fancied the first part especially with the airspace restrictions, and the sky didn't look exactly inviting either near the start. I'm pleased you enjoyed playing our relatively relaxed 5500 amsl airspace - please don't make it your only visit to our club :-)
Most excellent.... well done... read about it in S&G, but great to see the footage.... well flown... gives me good inspiration to keep going in these crazy times..
Thanks for posting! I did my first 50km and first contest in a Ka6cr, great performer and great handling. I shared your video with our gliding club ground school as part of the lesson on early x-c flying. Onwards and upwards!
Well done Sam and well flown. I got my outlanding clearance at K G C but before I got to try for silver children ( and i love them) came along and took up all my time. I really enjoyed your video. Good luck going for Gold!
WOW! Sam - WELL DONE!! Not easy - not easy at all to heave yourself out of Kenley under that airspace! Not the most conducive day either. That is a really good effort and then to go on and close out your 5 hours - REALLY IMPRESSIVE! Lovely inspiring video too - I know how much that means to you. CONGRATULATIONS! I will be watching your progress with interest!!!
Thank you so much !! Glad you liked the video as well 👍. It was certainly a strange day but the climbs were pretty consistent for the difficult bit which was the main thing!
@@samcoolegliding3524 You're very welcome Sam! I did my 5 hours from Challock as well - except that I launched from there in, er, 1988.. :-) That was in a K-8. You are a rising star - why don't you have a look at my videos here? Especially th-cam.com/video/khtlVJRBqSc/w-d-xo.html PS My real name is Martin Roberts!
Thing is Sam, How do I continue to use your expertise in training me to fly. Right from the very start of my trial flight on meeting you was calming and informative. Reminded me of the days I was at Norfolk Gliding Club.
I did my silver C in a kingfisher back in 1963 gaining a height of 6 and a half thousand feet and staying in the air for six and a half hours that was quite an experience
Funny story. On day I took an aero tow in a new Bergefalke III. I almost beat the tow plane to the ground. I was fourteen and I just loved landings. Anyhow, one of our pilots landed right after me. He said "Terry, what happened". I told him I couldn't find any lift. He said " I know what you mean! I looked for two hours and couldn't find any! ". Ouch
I borrowed it off a club member. It is the IGC, it's very good but very expensive as far as I understand! It was good to have my primary nav as my logger so I could avoid busting on the trace.

Congratulations. The Ka6 was my favorite glider. It's wonderful to see that these old birds are still flying.

Thanks so much! I would love to do the same, but might need to take it elsewhere for the Gold badge!
The K6 is capable of quite a lot really. I got my diamond goal in it in 1982 from Rufforth with an out and return flight.
I can’t wait to fly my Ka-6 Cr finally.. it’s so close! It looks like you had plenty of fun in yours!

Awesome!
What a cool looking glider.

Thank you so much! Yes, I am happy I managed to do my 5 hours there rather than here...
I will certainly be back, thank you for being so welcoming :)
What fabulous conditions.

Thanks so much! You are right - it's been tough...

That's great, thank you! I agree, the k6-cr is still my favourite glider.

Thank you! Hopefully this season 😎
Wow Sam! I must congratulate you on 69 subscribers! This is an epic number.
🤭 thank you ;)
Well done and you will remember this flight for ever. I remember my Silver C but can hardly remember my 1st solo

Sam, thankyou for a superb Trial Flight at ESGC. It was a exhilarating to say the least. Good luck for your future flying. Hope to see you again soon.
You're more than welcome, glad you enjoyed! Thanks very much

Well done! What a way to get your silver - bravo!!

Hi Sam, you flew with me at Kenley on 22/09. Congrats on the Silver and the article in S&G too! Best regards, Radek
Yes I remember! Thank you :)

Congrats from Argentina!!!
I would love to fly the Ka6 some day. Very nice video. Subbed!

Absolutely AWESOME mate, well done, takes some kahunas to go XC in a K6, future Junior Champ??
Thanks! Maybe one day 😆
Well done Sam.
Thank you xx
Great video! What's the name of the music at 6:30?

Ouch
How do you like the Oudie nav.
Is it IGC or standard.
I got IGC so that I could fly solos as well this year
I borrowed it off a club member. It is the IGC, it's very good but very expensive as far as I understand! It was good to have my primary nav as my logger so I could avoid busting on the trace.
I never knew you had a channel until now
So where did you land ?
Challock!
When I did my Silver C you only get two legs a flight.
