Same! I believe Eva stopped doing the opt up because it was damaging her voice, it’s a hell of a role with some incredible vocals, but also scope for putting your own spin on the parts.
I was so excited that she did it! I know it's tough on the voice, but it's so gorgeous and powerful when the performer opts up at such a crucial, intense moment. I love it!
i watched her live a few weeks ago as eurydice and her vocals were really exceptional!! i believe this clip was one of her first performances (if not, the first performance) so most likely she was still adjusting this period. whereas eva, she has been playing that role for years. i just think it is pointless to compare them since they have a different vocal style/range. but idk, just watch hadestown on broadway again and catch solea's performance and you'll know what i am talking about. i attended so many broadway shows already but solea's voice was definitely one of the most unique and goosebump-inducing vocals that i have ever heard!
@@ericatolentino6455 sounds good- glad you had a great experience but I never brought up Eva/compared her, just felt that it was strange how off it sounded to me
@@CTA--I mean I’m listening back 2 weeks later with fresh ears and she’s still sharp from the first “me” and doesn’t recover til “it sounds like drumming.”
She has a wonderful voice, but I don't think it fits the character. It's another casting decision that wasn't thought through, like Aaron Tveit and Sutton Foster in Sweeney Todd.
You are completely wrong. I saw her in the role on Wednesday and she was absolutely incredible. One of the best live performances I have ever seen. I love what she does with the role and hearing it done in a more fuller sounding voice was super refreshing compared to the lighter sound from Eva’s voice we are all so used to from cast recording.
@@royperez8965 Solea Pfeiffer is more than capable. She was recently in Almost Famous, played the title character in Evita back in 2018, and she also has played Clara in Light In The Piazza. She has the chops. Just because she isn't a carbon copy of Eva doesn't mean she's not good.
She definitely has the chops, and the versatility. From soprano roles to power vocals like in Evita. Compared to the bootleg leaked of her early in her run this sounds subdued and tame.
Love that she opted up for that last run!

She has some gritt in her voice gives it more of rock vibes
She's absolutely exceptional!!!
I had no idea Solea got cast in Hadestown what the fuck that's so cool-
SAME!
I saw her live… blown away
So happy she was my Eurydice!!!
She’s great! Would love to cross the Atlantic and experiencing her as Eurydice! 👍😃
Dream role fr
And Orpheus is mine! It'd be super awesome if we played them together! 🌺

I was gonna say the same thing, she has a great voice, but not for Eurydice.

lowkey, this is my least favorite eurydice. I don’t know what it is, but the other eurydices were more emotional, and she seemed more angry.
She's straining..Eva better...I'm sure Reeve knows it too.
