Lovely memories from my poor childhood through to brighter times in some ways ... worse in others. Nostalgia & lots of bittersweet memories. Thank you!

Very fascinating, thank you for sharing. My mum grew up in Fenton and loved it, and I couldn't understand why until I watched this, and saw how different it seemed in the 1940's. Cars have had a very negative impact on almost everywhere, including gardens it seems.

And look at what it's become now, so sad when you look back

I can remember the Clayhanger TV series back in the 1970s.

8:24 Blimey I remember my Mum doing this in our porch. The stone was white and she used to clean it every day! Mind you, we lived in the Westlands!

@@robmanson6210 Oooo....what was her name? Must admit none of us ever thought of it as posh really though I remember a girl a bit older than us lads whose boyfriend drove a Jensen Interceptor. She was well out of our league.....I mean my first car was a secondhand Moggie 1000!

@@robmanson6210 You're right about there being no cheek. Myself and all my mates were brought up pretty strict and taught to respect elders. Not saying we were all angels but if you ever got in any trouble at school the last thing you'd do is go home whining to your Dad about it because you'd just get another whack!
I didn't know any girl by that name.
