Dude... The plot twist in the end. That he decided not to grab his jacket and therefore it all didn't happen.
Genius, really, bravo on this short film. It gave me chills.

If you have to crawl into a tent and feel the need to close the hatch in order to put a jacket on then you deserve to be punished by time travel

My first reaction to your comment "MarkMan63" was that you were very correct. But unless my jacket was within arms reach of the entrance and I had to completely enter the tent to get my jacket I would actually zip the entrance closed mainly to keep insects out as several other people have pointed out. I know this because I just went camping for almost a week.

Hey everyone. So I get that quite a few people are not understanding my films and that's fine, I actually prefer people to not be spoonfed answers. Some things to consider about this film:
    1. The budget was $0
    2. All the "actors" were friends and relatives of mine
    3. The film hopefully makes you think. As for the ending, yea I don't know why people are having problems understanding it because it is exactly the same as the start of the film. The main character's original decision to get his jacket alters the future and creates the time loop but in a parallel universe he makes a difference decision and therefore never discovers the time loop and the future version of himself disappears.
Anyways, thanks so much for watching my films I'll have more posted again soon!!!

All I can say is: Nice escape from the loop, though a bit rash - it makes more questions than those that it answer.
Lets call the closing char A and the starting char B; A had already gone through all the trials needed to understand what and where he was, the only two solid proof of is the tent and the phone. The phone, being solid and data, had a past-state as well therefore: what is in his A-phone *it is not, yet,* nor will ever be in B-phone because B char decided not to do the thing. So, **why on earth would you erase proof of time-space travel**? ;)

Loved the ending. I know it confused some people but it made sense to me. Since he made the decision to go get the jacket he got stuck in the loop came to the 3rd repeat, he didn't choose to get the jacket therefore ending the loop. Also the very very end was the 3rd or 2nd time the loop person trying to catch up with the 1st guy. It's confusing but watch a couple series of Dr Who and you'll get it xD

Great short. I liked the score as it matched the mystery, and gave the film as a whole a great sense of wonder. My main note would be the ending, not that it was bad, it just didn't stick. I think a close up of the protagonist revealing the change in the time loop, would eliminate most of the confusion. It would help us know how important that line is. I had to rewatch the ending and search for what happened. I didn't get it because I didn't know where to look. A close up shows us where to look and what is important. A close up would also allow you to play with the timing in editing to allow for greater drama to his decision that ultimately changes the course of time. But yeah, great job, that's just my 2 pennies.

BRILLIANT. The whole idea of unzipping a tent and ,bizarrely, finding urself in another camping ground. Dang. Would never have imagined it . But ,suggested, seems so plausible SOMEHOW WOW. I keep noticing these short amateur sc-fis are out-doing Hollywood for originality. We need apps so Robert Fatt can cut out big brother and the middlemen. Produce their own and market direct to internet. The apps have to appear and Hollywood is floundering. Be patient guys. Love ur work

This needed a little more "glossing" (explanation) for the viewer. So much happened that I forgot the original reason he went into the tent ⛺️. And for me to piece that with a parallel universe was too much even for this sci-fi, time travel movie addict. I didn't even know we were dealing with parallel universes in this movie, and I had trouble getting the time travel aspect because the landscapes changed so drastically. Also, there was no continuity between the times he traveled to, nor any markers to indicate where or how far he had traveled.
This was a good effort, and fun to watch. It just didn't quite convey its message except to the extremely bright.

Great job! I loved the switch from teleportation to time travel. For constructive criticism I'd say that when making a time travel based story, make sure that everything falls into line and makes sense. For example why did he change his mind? Why did the future guy disappear at the end, while the picture on the phone didn't go away? Who was the one that deleted the picture? Make sure that you look at different time travel theories (i.e. different time lines, predestination, time loops, etc.) and make sure your whole story fits. Otherwise you did a great job with the short. Thanks.

    • @RobertCampsall
      @RobertCampsall 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

I'm not sure I agree with your assessment. They ran afoul of one of the most difficult problems with time travel, which is cutting off loops of time that no longer connect to the main timeline. What that means to the version that disappeared is an open question - does he continue on in his broken timeline but in his the person that disappeared was his earlier version? Who knows, because if time travel is possible the ramifications depend largely on whether we live in a malleable multiverse, a fixed multiverse (which means the later version is just gone) or a single timeline that is subject to change, which is the messiest of the bunch and usually seems to ultimately end with a single timeline in which time travel is never invented (after an infinite number of changes, or none, depending on how you look at it).

I've watched this short for the 3rd time. It was very good. The story can be followed very easily. Not a bad loop story. I love that you used the tent rather than using some effects makes the story a bid more believable.
Your editing and compiling is great! Keep up the great work. I'm assuming that these were not paid actors and they may be friends of your but overall not bad on their energy.
The music always started at the right moment, Builds up great suspense that the audience can relate to. Great job!

I think the idea was really good: a tent which shares the memories of all the places you visited is a sort of a mental time machine. While the screen shots with the time machine tent were really good, the conversation between the characters in the movie wasn't. A pity because with a zero budget this movie is pretty good.

Choice. In reality we have dejavous and dreams that come true... can we change them? I've tried and have succeeded. It's like a flutter of scales when it changes before your eyes, but this actually happens. And no, I've never done drugs in my life. Unlike this film, I've yet to run into myself, but as I'm watching my dream unfold before my very eyes, and I had witnesses on two occasions, I was able to describe the scene as to what was going to happen next. To my amazement, I altered the course to keep my mother from dying only to have the dream come to fruition when my mother asked my brother to do the thing I had avoided doing that day. She died twenty four hours later, just like in my dream. So yes. I believe this sort of thing. Thanks guys for the memory.

      @jimcarey7150 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

+PublicShit I've been camping. Whatever you need, is the farthest from the entrance or the least accessible place. So crawling in is not my issue, and putting it on inside the tent, as awkward as that would be, is not--ZIPPING THE TENT in order to put on a jacket is!

I love a good time travel movie. The teleport bit is unusual and adds to the fun of figuring it out. Thanks a bunch for the effort, I really enjoyed it.
POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT (don't hit read more until you've seen the film)
Guy travels 5 times and winds up back at origin.
He meets himself and is sent back to do it all again.
Each time he arrives at one of the travel points (on the second lap) he's in a slightly different location and fails to catch up with the original trip self. I figure he thinks the "him" he's chasing has the answers, although if he paused to think about it, he'd work out this isn't the case as he was the original guy a short time ago and didn't know squat then.
Eventually he winds up back at origin and asks friends "am I here". Friends have no idea what he's talking about so he figures the first trip version of himself will be there shortly.
Sure enough, a short while later the first trip version turns up and the awaiting (second trip version) tells him to do another lap and it will all work out.
The first trip version gets back in the tent and does another lap.
The second trip version has a go with his mates but it doesn't work. Fatigued, the second trip verson takes a nap. End of story in this reality.
In a totally different reality, the original guy (before he travels anywhere) decides he doesn't need a jacket and the possibility of travelling is extinguished. Ostensibly, the guy that dissapears is the first returning guy from a trip in this reality that now can't happen so he dissapears. However, if this was the case, the dissapearing guy wouldn't exist in the first place to be dissapeared so he's actually a copy from the first reality.
Why he dissapeared is beyond me.
Why a second copy (who arrived in a tent some short distance away), remained is also beyond me. However he showed some smarts in realising he wasn't in his original reality any more and may have deleted the photo to try and avoid being deleted himself. We'll never know if this worked or not. It seems unlikely that he deleted the photo in an attempt to delete himself (it's a hell of an intellectual leap and even if he thought he was a copy of himself in a different reality, would you delete yourself if you knew you were a copy of yourself?)
I also don't know why some versions of the traveller have a bandaid on their left hand and some don't? (is this just a continuity error or does it further complicate things?)
What is the very first guy to get into the tent looking for (or concealing) after he puts on the jacket? I thought it might be the phone the photo was taken with but that's his phone so he'd have it on him if he wanted it and I can't think of a reason for leaving it in the tent.
Still scratching my head and enjoying the itch, thanks again.

Chris K Don't quote me on this, but I think this is a multiverse setting, to dumb shit down: think Flash (the comics turned tv dude); When he goes to enough speed he breaks time-space barrier and can freely choose another verse to go into, though that verse already has a flash in it (and because we are talking multiverse, it may not have a flash yet, might already have been, and so on) and the flash that originally left his verse as also not left his verse. ... If that makes it any better, if not: wiki the thing - it's pretty interesting :)
The first one disappeared to make the loop not a loop, and the second one didn't because ... well.. multiverse; in order for the loop to close itself there must be a version of has and has not. Though no one agrees if "Multiverse" is physics or philosophy so you got that going for your understanding :P

Acting wasn't very good but the concept and story were awesome and it was really well executed. I really liked the ending, a little different, something to keep us off balance.
Anyone who has ever made a short film project with friends knows that actors, especially good ones, can be hard to come by. Most of your friends can't pull it off. What matters is the visual and mental aspects. The music was cool too.
